Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Pilot

April 2011. Willoughby, Pennsylvania.

Elena and Rebekah are following Katherine's trail to find her and get the cure for immortality from her.

As Elena parks the car after getting into town, Rebekah follows her as she gets out.

"Why are we stopping?" Rebekah asks, yelling at her.

"We've searched three cities in the last 24 hours. I'm sick of Top 40 radio, and I smell like leather."

"And that's my fault? You're the one who stole the list of Katherine's possible whereabouts. Did you ever think that Damon had bad information?"

"Have I mentioned I can't stand the sound of your voice?" Elena shrugs off her words without a care.

"Too bad. We're not done." Rebekah sees her nonchalant attitude and starts getting impatient. "Get in. We're moving to the next town!"

Elena sighs, feeling impatient with the original princess and her antics, and starts to feel hungry. As she looks around the place, she spots a pretty redhead, whom she decides will be her food.

"In a minute. I'm hungry."

"We're not here for a pub crawl, Elena. I want the cure, and Katherine has it. We don't stop until we find her."

"I said, in a minute." Elena gives her a stare and vamps away next to the redhead.

The redhead, who was dropping a few bags into her car after closing the door, spots Elena beside her, almost giving her a heart attack. "Oh, my God. You startled me."

"Did I?" Elena asks, amused, as she starts to show her true face, about to bite her.

"Katherine, what are you doing?" The redhead cries out, taken aback.

Elena stops midway, bewildered, as she was about to sink her fangs into her neck, just as she was grazing her skin. She moves her head away, and along with Rebekah, looks at her in surprise.

"You know me?"

"Of course. Um, I know most people around here prefer you to feed from the neck, but I asked you to drink from my wrist. Remember?"

"Conniving little bitch compelled the whole town." Rebekah gives a little sigh.

"I think we just found Katherine." Elena smiles, as if catching a sneaky little mouse.

"How do you know me?"

"It's a small town. Everybody knows everybody," the redhead smiles, a little nervous.

"So, everyone here knows Katherine?" Rebekah asks her.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about."

Rebekah admires the little bitch's thoughtful methods a bit. "She compelled people to forget unless she was talking to them herself. Clever girl."

"How long have we known each other?" Elena asks.

"Uh, it's been a while. I can't remember."

"Where do I live? Where do I work?"

"I don't know."

"Who do I spend time with? Do I have any friends?"

"Well, you said we could all be friends with you as long as we kept your secret."

"What secret?"

"I… I don't know."

"What's my full name?"

"Katherine Pierce." She smiles, sure of her answer. Then she praises her hair. "I love the new 'do, by the way."

Rebekah is getting impatient with the compelled woman's useless answers. "So, how do you know Katherine?"

"How do I know who?"

"She is of no use at all. She must be just food for Katherine." Rebekah says angrily.

Elena then sees the post office in front and thinks that maybe they could try their luck there if the whole town is compelled.

"Let's go," Elena says to Rebekah as she starts walking away from the redhead.

A man is working in front of it, and Elena stops him midway. "Hey, excuse me. Um… Did I get any mail today?"

The man looks at Elena, bewildered. "What happened to your hair?"

"I cut it," Elena says nonchalantly.

"In the last two minutes?"

Elena is without words at their incredible luck, as they blindly find Katherine's tracks. "I was here two minutes ago?"

"Are you feeling okay, Ms. Pierce?"

"Yeah. I'm… I'm fine. Um, thanks."

The man nods at them and leaves.

"She was here two minutes ago. That means she can't be that far." Elena looks around as she says to Rebekah. "How about you check inside? I'll look in the parking lot."

"Okay," Rebekah easily accepts, as she is getting excited about the prospect of getting the cure at last.

Elena walks around the place and spots a woman, believing it could be Katherine. But as she turns around, it isn't her. As Elena prepares to keep looking, Katherine jumps at her, grabbing her throat and strangling her.

"I'm impressed. I never thought you'd find me here." Katherine strangles Elena as she expresses her surprise at finding Elena in town. "Oh, well. It's a beautiful place to die."

Rebekah suddenly appears as Katherine is about to kill Elena and easily pushes her to the ground. "I couldn't agree more."

"You've chosen a beautiful place to die," Rebekah smiles at her.

"You won't get the cure if you kill me," Katherine defiantly says to Rebekah while she looks at her as if really wanting to kill her.

Rebekah sighs and grabs Katherine like a little bunny, pushing her into a diner. She drops her into a seat beside a table and then compels everyone not to care about them.

"Where's the cure?" Elena asks without much emotion as she looks at the evil woman who killed her brother.

"What? No, I'm here to avenge my annoying little brother' speech?" Katherine says amusedly, trying to get under Elena's skin, even though she is being watched like prey by Rebekah, who sits beside her.

"People die. We move on," Elena says nonchalantly.

Katherine then realizes as she observes her. "After turning off our humanity switch."

"So sad for the boys, though. Their special snowflake of human frailty… Gone."

Katherine, seeing the situation getting out of hand—Rebekah would kill her if she loses her value, and Elena would not hesitate to kill her if she gets the chance—wants to get away as soon as possible. "Well, if we're gonna be here for a while, I'm gonna go grab some menus."

Rebekah, seeing her about to get up, sticks a fork in her hand. "You're not going anywhere."

Katherine grunts in pain, her teeth clenched, feeling the fork in her hand. "I forgot how charming you were."

"I'm surprised you remember me at all, seeing as you were so busy wedging yourself between my brothers."

"Oh, my God. What happened?" The waitress arrives, sees Katherine's hand pierced by a fork, and asks with worry.

Elena kicks Katherine under the table to do something.

"I'm fine, Jolene. You didn't see anything," Katherine compels the waitress.

The waitress soon leaves.

"Every minute you two waste with your yapping is another minute we give Stefan and Damon to find us." Elena, impatient at seeing Katherine waste time, speaks, urging Rebekah to press Katherine for answers.

Rebekah quickly catches her words, grabs Katherine's chin, makes her look into her eyes, and tries to compel her.

"Where's the cure?"

"I'm sorry, I'm on vervain," Katherine smiles amusedly.

"Oh, I get to torture it out of you if it's gonna be like this." Rebekah smiles back. "Fun."

"Why do you two want it anyway?"

"The question is, why do you want it? Let me guess: to kill Klaus."

"I've spent the last 500 years running from your big brother. I have no intention of being within sniffing distance of him. But since it can be used against him, I'm sure he's just itching to get his hands on it. I give him the cure, he gives me my freedom."

Elena doesn't buy her story. "Oh, you poor victim. Where's the part of your plan where you screw us over and somebody dies?"

"I have no reason to screw you over. I know you don't believe me, but it's the truth. People change. I'm not the girl you think I am."

Rebekah smiles with ridicule at her as she jumps on her. She searches Katherine's pocket, finds her phone, and throws it at Elena.

"I don't have it on me."

"I didn't think you did, but I'm sure there's something in that that can help us find it."

Elena looks into the phone. "Who's Em?"

Katherine feels this is a chance for her and speaks without giving anything away in her face or voice. "A friend."

Elena looks at her as if it's worth looking into, based on Katherine's reaction. "It says here you're meeting at 2:00. I guess I'll just have to meet Em myself."

Rebekah smiles as if they've got something.

"I'm gonna prepare myself. I'll be back," Elena says as she goes to touch up her makeup and hair in the restroom.

"You should just give me the cure, Katherine, instead of making us waste time."

Katherine looks at her scornfully.

Rebekah tsks as Elena comes out of the restroom and rejoins them.

"What do you think?"

"It's close. Not quite slutty enough," Rebekah points out what's missing. "I think you need more eyeliner."

Katherine looks at Rebekah with an unamused face as she insults her. Rebekah smiles victoriously, giving her back the nasty look she gave her before.

Elena rolls her eyes at the two. "I'm gonna need your clothes."

Katherine mockingly exhales at her words. "Yeah. That's not gonna happen…"

"Fine. Your bracelet, watch, earrings." Elena speaks again as she takes the fork out of Katherine's hand, making her grunt. "Hand them over."

Katherine exhales in frustration as she hands her things to Elena.

"And your other bracelet."

"That's my daylight bracelet. It's daytime outside, and I'm gonna need it. Besides, it's not gonna work on you."

"Fine… I really am gonna need that jacket, though."

Katherine is not convinced. Elena looks at Rebekah, who, with delight, pulls Katherine by her hair.

"All right. Fine, fine, fine," Katherine relents in pain.

Rebekah releases her with a small smile as they exchange jackets.

"This will never work, you know? The bad haircut, the doe eyes… You'll never pass for me."

Elena mimics her. "You'll never pass for me."

"Throatier and more mannish," Rebekah, amused, gives her pointers.

Elena does it as she speaks again. "You'll never pass for me."

"You two are pathetic."

Elena mimics her again. "You two are pathetic."

Rebekah praises her. "Oh, perfect. Just the right level of contempt and hidden insecurity."

Katherine gives her a nasty sideways look.

"Almost there. Something's missing." Elena gives herself the final touches as she thinks, and she finally looks at Katherine's shoes. "Your shoes. I want your shoes."

Katherine begrudgingly gives her shoes as Elena puts them on and walks out of the diner, leaving behind the pair of wildcats.

"Let's order something, shall we?" Rebekah smiles as she calls for the waitress.

"Ugh." Katherine sighs.

...

....

..

"Mm. You know, it's funny." Rebekah speaks as she licks her fingers after eating a bit of the cake in front of her. She talks pensively as she looks at Katherine and around. "I've always been a little envious of the legend that is Katherine Pierce—the way you could wrap a man around your little finger, the way Elijah betrayed Klaus for you, the way the Salvatore brothers stumbled head over heels for you."

Her voice and face morph into ridicule. "And yet, here we are, all these years later, in a town that you've had to compel into liking you."

Katherine looks at her nonchalantly. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't laugh. It's really more sad than funny."

Instead of getting angry at her words, Katherine calmly says, "You know you can't split the cure with Elena, right?"

"She doesn't want to."

"Oh, no? But you do. You want to take it. Are you really that dumb, or just naturally blonde?"

Rebekah states her wish seriously: "I want a normal life again."

"You mean you want a do-over." Katherine looks at her with ridicule. "Well, guess what: you can't have it. The cure will only take away your immortality. Everything else you hate about yourself, you'll still wake up with in the morning. And you won't even be able to compel yourself a friend."

Katherine finishes, piercing a knife into Rebekah's fragile heart as she tries to eat a piece of her cake. But Rebekah angrily catches her arm and twists it. Just then, Stefan and Damon appear and sit down next to them.

"Ladies, playing nice?" Stefan says, interrupting their bonding time.

"There goes the neighborhood," Katherine says, seeing the pair of Salvatore brothers.

Damon looks at them both. "I see you've got Katherine already. You're losing your touch, evil one."

"Where's Elena?"

"Ask the dumb blonde here." Katherine smiles at them.

"Bitch," Rebekah says to her, then looks at them, disliking the appearance of the pair of brothers who are about to bother her—plans that were going so well until now. "So let me get this straight: I tell you where Elena is, you shove the cure down her throat, and then I end up in a box, right? I don't think so."

Katherine smiles, amused.

Damon looks at her. "What about you over there, smiley? Do you know where she is?"

"I can give you a hint. Start by looking at the town morgue. She's probably dead. She went to meet up with a friend of mine. You may know him… an original brother. Impeccable taste."

Rebekah looks at her in surprise. "Elijah?"

"Elijah's here?"

Stefan sighs as the matter complicates even further. "Well, you sort of have to question Elijah's impeccable taste if he's friends with you."

"Oh, when I say 'friend,' I mean friend." Katherine smiles.

They understand what she means, and they're all disgusted.

"It probably took him about ten seconds to realize that she wasn't me, at which point he probably yanked her heart right out of her chest."

"All right. Where are they?" Stefan asks.

She doesn't answer and smiles. He looks at Rebekah. "Rebekah, you do realize that if something happens to Elena, you have no chance of finding the cure, right?"

"Fine. They were supposed to meet at the gazebo by the park."

"I'll go talk to Elijah." Stefan gets up.

"You deal with Elijah. Katherine will take us to the cure."

Katherine scoffs. "No, she won't. The cure's my one chance to win my freedom back from Klaus."

Damon ridicules her. "You're gonna broker a deal with Klaus?"

"No. She's gonna get Elijah to broker a deal for her." Stefan realizes her intentions. "That's why you need your little friend, isn't it? Some things never change, Katherine."

"Nope." Damon gives a sardonic smile.

Seeing the pair of brothers ridiculing her, Katherine grows exasperated as she relents. But everything is just an act for her plans, as she doesn't care about her words. "Fine. Move. You have to follow me."

...

...

..

.

Rebekah, Damon, and Katherine enter the house where she is temporarily living. Damon pushes her slightly as they enter, which she meets with an indignant look, but she doesn't care and points at him instead as he looks around. "No sudden moves. No tricks either. No Katherine-ing."

Katherine scoffs and moves through the room to a library stand. Damon and Rebekah watch her every move.

"A quilt and a fish aquarium," Damon comments, looking around. "Who the hell are you?"

"A very old lady with dreadful taste," Rebekah snickers.

Katherine opens a safe and looks inside. "It's gone. The cure—it was in the safe, but it's not there."

"Not falling for it. Where is it, Auntie Katherine?" Damon doesn't believe her.

"I swear it was in the safe," Katherine insists, pointing at the safe and showing her best honest face.

"What?" Rebekah rolls her eyes. "Just like Elijah is really your boyfriend and this is really your life? And for all we know, this isn't even your house."

"Yeah, it doesn't look like the Katherine I know," Damon nods.

"Maybe you don't know Katherine at all. Did it ever occur to you that you have no idea who I really am?" Katherine snaps back, angrily and indignantly.

"Did it ever occur to you that you're not that deep? This whole small-town girl thing—we know it's an act."

"Where is the cure?" Rebekah asks slowly, her expression impatient.

Katherine doesn't answer; she just smiles. Rebekah rushes toward her, but Damon stops her. "Whoa, whoa. Hang on. We need her alive. The cure's not here. You check upstairs. I'll check down. I got this."

Rebekah gives him a sideways glance as she leaves the room.

"So, if I were a paranoid, distrustful sociopath, where would I keep my most prized possession?"

Katherine snickers at him. "This should be fun."

"Because I'd want it to be close, but not on me. Accessible, but not obvious. I'd want to keep it safe, but not so safe that it'd be too difficult to grab and run." Damon speaks as he looks around the room, then peers into the aquarium. "Well, that is a fancy little treasure chest in a tank with no fish. I think I'm gonna have to check that out."

He swoops his arm inside, but it's full of vervain, burning him like crispy chicken. He pulls his arm out and grabs a landing net. "Vervain water. Looks like we have a winner."

Katherine then jumps on him, shoves his head into the aquarium, and throws him to the floor. His face burns, and he screams. She grabs the cure inside and is about to leave, but Rebekah stops her.

"Give it to me, or you're dead."

"You're gonna kill me anyway," Katherine says, her voice tense. "So what's more important to you, huh? Killing me or getting the cure?" She drops the cure as she vamps away at full speed. Rebekah ignores her escape, focusing instead on the cure flying through the air. She catches it and looks at it in wonder.

Damon, writhing in pain on the floor, groans as he struggles to speak. "Look, Rebekah... Don't even think about it. Let's just talk about this, like the two rational vampires that we are. Rebekah?"

"Oh, give it a rest," Rebekah smiles happily, unable to believe she finally holds what she's most longed for—a new life. "Me taking this cure is the best thing that'll ever happen to you."

"Don't do anything stupid."

"Admit it. You don't want human Elena running back to Stefan while you're left out in the cold again. Go on, Damon. Tell me why you want Elena to have the cure."

Damon doesn't answer, and she smiles. Rebekah opens the cure, and Stefan suddenly appears by the door, yelling, "No!!!"

She ignores him and drinks it. Rebekah closes her eyes, relaxing into the cure as a magical energy expands from her in a shockwave around the room. It instantly knocks Stefan and Damon unconscious, and Rebekah collapses onto the couch. A tattoo resembling vampire fangs forms on her neck, and her belly begins glowing—a bright blue ball surrounded by a dark fog—before the light fades away.

...

.....

...

.

Later, Rebekah starts stirring as she wakes up and looks around, seeing a groaning Stefan and Damon stirring from the ground into consciousness.

"Wh-what happened?" Rebekah asks groggily.

"That's what we'd like to know," Damon groans, exhausted, as if someone had drained all his energy.

"What do you mean?" Rebekah asks doubtfully. Suddenly, she feels her body tired, which makes her smile—she believes the cure worked.

"You drank the cure, and suddenly, magic surged from your body as you collapsed. It knocked me out, and it seems it did the same to Damon," Stefan explains, recalling what he last saw. "I feel so tired right now."

"So it worked? I feel tired," Rebekah says in wonder as she looks at them both. "I never feel tired. And you say magic happened? It must have been the cure!" she cheers to herself.

Stefan glares at his brother angrily. "Did you even try to stop her?"

"You forgot the part where I was bobbing for boxes in vervain water."

"All you had to do was stall her, Damon."

"What could I have done, brother? It's Rebekah."

"You let her take it, didn't you? You were never on my side. Now Elena will be a vampire for the rest of her life—just like you wanted."

"Stop, both of you!" Rebekah feels her nerves throbbing as she hears them yelling at each other. "I'm human again!"

"How do you feel?" Stefan looks at her.

"I… I feel good. Tired, but… I feel great. I feel alive," Rebekah smiles, marveling at what she's experiencing. She also feels a warmth in her belly she's never felt before. As she touches her belly, a surge of happiness fills her chest. "I… I also feel my belly warm, and… it makes me happy. I don't know why…"

"I don't know how to explain why…"

Stefan looks at her strangely, then at her belly, not understanding her last words.

Damon, however, grows angrier the more he listens to her. "Slight problem with being alive… I can kill you now."

He throws a paper knife at her, but she catches it easily. She exhales, scared and surprised. Stefan jumps in shock as he looks at her and the paper knife in her hand. Her hand bleeds, then the cut heals. She can't believe it.

"I'm still a vampire. The cure didn't work," Rebekah says, heartbroken.

"It worked just like she wanted it to," Stefan realizes suddenly, understanding Katherine's plans. "The cure was a fake."

"Katherine…" Damon mutters.

"No! It can't be. It can't be fake!" Rebekah yells, exasperated. "I feel tired! I feel alive! I feel warmth in my belly that makes me happy! Why? Why…?"

"It can't be fake! Didn't you say magic happened? You two were unconscious!" Rebekah clings to her feelings and the fantasy of being human again.

"Well, whatever it was or what happened, it clearly didn't change you back to being human, blondie!" Damon yells back.

"It must have been a vial made by some witch or something," Stefan tries to rationalize.

"It can't be…" Rebekah mutters soullessly, caressing her belly, feeling the warmth and happiness as she touches herself. "Something changed. I can feel it."

"Get a hold of yourself, Rebekah!" Damon stops her crisis. "You're still a vampire!"

.....

...

.

In another place at the same time, Katherine drops Elena and looks at Elijah, who gazes at her with a reproachful look. "Oh, come on. She could use a nap. It must be exhausting trying to be me."

Suddenly, she feels a sharp pain in her neck and, all of a sudden, feels tired. She puts her hand instantly to her neck, touching the spot. After a second, the pain goes away, and instead, she feels a warmth spread all over her body. She feels her heart beating accelerated and filled with joy, though she doesn't know why.

As she tries to calm her excited heart and think about what is happening to her, Elijah speaks indignantly: "You killed Jeremy Gilbert."

Elijah's words pull her thoughts away from her current situation. "Yes, Elijah. I killed Jeremy Gilbert. A bombshell, I'm sure she just couldn't wait to drop on you. Ironic, since she supposedly doesn't care about anything."

"I care. Do you honestly feel nothing for this girl—a girl fated to live the same life that you've endured? And now you've just taken away the last of her family, just as yours was taken away from you."

"Uh, why are you looking at me like I enjoyed it? Jeremy was collateral damage. I was doing what I needed to do to survive," she replies, rolling her eyes at him as she continues caressing her neck.

"Is that what I am, too? A means of survival?"

"Don't let sweet little Elena get to you. She hates me. She wants you to turn against me and convince you that I can't be trusted."

"I asked you a question," Elijah says, looking at her seriously.

Katherine looks at him and removes her hand from her neck, trying to caress his face, but he evades her touch. She sighs. "No. Of course, you're not a means of survival. You looked out for me when I had no one. You're giving me a second chance now when no one else will. I love you, Elijah. You don't believe me."

Elijah looks at her face and then at her neck, where her hand had been touching. He discovers a tattoo of what appears to be vampire fangs, raising an eyebrow as he responds: "I want to. It's my disease. I just keep wanting to believe you, but how can I when, at every turn, you give me reason to doubt you? I don't know you. I don't know that I ever will." He turns to leave. "Wait. You gave me your word that you would talk to Klaus. I... I can't make a deal without you."

"Goodbye, Katherine," is all Elijah says as he leaves her.

"Damn!" Katherine mutters, frustrated. She takes out a small mirror she had taken from Elena and examines her neck, soon spotting the tattoo on her previously pristine skin. "What is this?" she mutters, bewildered, as she caresses her neck, feeling all warm and tingly.

Seeing that nothing else is happening to her, she decides to leave the tattoo aside for now and investigate it later. First, she needs to amend her problem with Elijah if she wants to end her Klaus problem. So, she leaves to find the woman who holds the true cure for her.

.....

A few hours later, a woman opens the door of her house. "Katherine, hey. What brings you by at this hour?"

"I came to retrieve my package."

"Oh. Of course. Like I said, your secret would be safe here." She goes inside and comes back with a little box. She gives it to Katherine, who opens it and finds the cure inside.

"Hey, um... all the secrecy. Can I ask, what is it?"

"It's my freedom." Katherine drops this before leaving. She quickly finds Elijah using her methods as he walks to his encounter with his sister.

"Wait." Katherine stops his path.

"What do you want?" Elijah sighs, seeing her again.

"To tell you that you're right. I've spent so much time running and lying just to survive that I don't… I'm starting to believe my own lies. I don't even remember who I was when we first met. And I want to find out." She takes a box from her purse and shows him.

"You have the cure."

"Yeah. And I can shove this down Klaus's throat and try to kill him, but even if I manage to do it... I'd lose you. And I don't want that to happen."

"How do I know this isn't another lie? Katherine Pierce deceiving yet another man."

"Because I meant what I said about my feelings for you. And I'd like to think that you feel something for me, too. I need you to trust me. I want you to trust me... Just like I'm trusting you." She speaks with 'sincerity' as she gives him the box.

"You don't owe me anything. I'm gonna let you decide where we go from here." She leaves without waiting for an answer.

Elijah looks at her leaving figure as he opens the box and looks at the cure before walking for a while to his car, where his sister is waiting.

"You and Katherine? And I thought you were the smart brother."

"You don't have a smart brother. It turns out I'm just as stupid as the rest of you."

"Why don't you just give me the cure so I can judge you silently elsewhere?"

Elijah sighs as he looks at his sister, looking at her sincerely. "And what could you possibly want with the cure?"

"I want to be human again," Rebekah says firmly and honestly. But she also, at the same time, moves her hands to her belly unconsciously as she caresses herself.

Elijah looks at her actions of caressing her belly and sighs, thinking that she wants to be a mother; that's why she wants to be human again. "How do you know that being human is the answer you're looking for? I mean, it's nothing but a romantic notion. The grass won't necessarily be greener, Rebekah."

Rebekah still caresses her belly as she answers. "You're probably right. But I don't care. I want to live a simple life as a normal person. And when it ends, it ends. We've had 20 lifetimes together, Elijah. Isn't that enough?"

["Humanity is overrated."] A boy's voice suddenly sounds, which Rebekah clearly hears, making her confused as she looks around but finds nothing.

[Humanity is overrated, stop being stupid.] The voice sounds again. Rebekah looks around again in wonder.

Elijah sees his sister looking around weirdly; he also looks around to see what she is trying to find and finds nothing. Then he speaks. "I just don't understand. I mean, why must you always consider our family a burden? Always and forever. I mean, those words are as important to me today as they ever were."

[Always and forever. Immortality for the little price of feeding from the miserable existence of humans.] The boy's voice echoes again.

"Did you hear that?" Rebekah looks around and then at Elijah and asks him. "There is a boy speaking."

"A boy?" Elijah looks bewildered at Rebekah as he looks around suspiciously and then at her. "There is no boy, Rebekah. I didn't hear anything at all."

"I... I did hear a boy speaking..." Rebekah says uncertainly and doubtfully. As her hands move to her belly and caresses herself involuntarily, feeling a warmth coursing through her body, filling her chest.

"What are you doing, Rebekah?"

Rebekah didn't know what was happening with her or the sudden voices she heard, attributing it to her feeling of tiredness. "It's nothing... I must be tired... I feel tired since taking the fake cure."

"Look, Elijah. You will always be my brother. And I will never stop loving you. But now it's time for me to live and die the way that I choose, not the way you and Nik want me to. Please. Please just give me the cure."

["Stop asking for that shit. Instead, better yet, destroy it! That thing shouldn't exist!"] The voice sounds again with an indignant and despising tone.

"Stop speaking already!" Rebekah says angrily. "I want to be human again!"

"Rebekah!" Elijah worriedly takes hold of his sister's shoulders as he looks at her. "There is no one here... No one is speaking."

"What is wrong with you?" he looks at her with worry.

"I... I don't know, Elijah." Rebekah says hesitatingly.

["There is nothing wrong with you, woman. Stop being a drama queen and forget about being a human. It isn't worth leaving the benefits of immortality for the cruelty of a decrepit body that will fail you."]

Rebekah trembled as she looked worriedly at her brother. "I'm hearing it again... Elijah. It's a boy's voice."

"Have you come into contact with a witch or something, Rebekah?"

"No... The only thing was drinking the fake cure that Katherine had... I have been feeling tired since then... Also, Damon and Stefan said that magic happened from my body that knocked them both unconscious when I drank from it."

Elijah's pupils dilated as he heard her words. "Let me call Katherine and ask her about the 'cure' you drank."

He pulled out his phone and called Katherine. After a moment, she picked it up. "Elijah?"

"Katherine, I need you to speak to me clearly with only the truth. What have you made my sister drink?"

"Elijah?" Katherine's doubtful tone came from the speaker. "She just drank a vial with my blood in it. Nothing more."

"Are you sure about it, Katherine?"

"100% sure, Elijah. I will not lie now. I'm still needing your help."

Elijah, frustrated, sighs, believing her. He looks at his sister and suddenly spots on her neck the same tattoo that Katherine had that he saw before, which he didn't ask about. But seeing it again, now on his sister's neck, he felt that it must be related to what is happening. "Katherine, when did you put a tattoo on your neck?"

Katherine was stupefied as she looked at her reflection in her mirror, also observing at this moment her tattoo that looked like vampire fangs, not being able to discover anything about it. "I never did! I'm currently looking at it as it appeared out of nowhere."

"Why are you asking, Elijah? Do you know something about it?"

Rebekah, hearing their chat, touched her neck unconsciously as she looked at her brother staring at her neck.

"Rebekah has one similar to yours, and it appears it also formed suddenly in her too..."

Rebekah and Katherine opened their eyes wide at his words.
