Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

A day prior, the Gemini Coven reunited with all its adult witch members as they cast a spell and called upon their ancestors from the other side. They were a numerous coven, with around a hundred people present—who knew how many more there were in total?

"Phasmatos Manex," they chanted in unison. "Un Domo Hax, Fero Adiuvex."

Unfettered magic coursed through the air, its surge manifesting in winds that stirred everything around them. Joshua Parker stood beside an altar as he cut open his palm with a dagger, allowing his blood to run through a magical diagram. His blood would act as a medium to convene their ancestors' spirits around them.

"Phasmatos Manex, Un Domo Hax, Fero Adiuvex."

The air stilled for a moment as the spell was completed. Everyone was quiet, looking around as if awaiting something. After a moment, one member of the coven stepped forward, garnering the attention of everyone present.

"Ancestor?" Joshua asked as he looked at the woman who walked out.

"Indeed," the woman said as she looked at the current body she was possessing and then at everyone around.

"Ancestor, we have a situation that requires our utmost urgency. We need your wisdom."

"We already know what is happening, Joshua Parker, current leader of the coven. You seek to know the whereabouts of the 'ascendant' that grants access to the prison world where your son Malachai is residing. Am I right?"

"Yes, that's correct. The coven can't have anyone releasing Malachai from that prison world. He can't be given any chance of trying to become leader of the coven. Besides, he still needs to continue paying for his crimes in there."

"Ancestor, we can't give him the slightest chance of getting out to try whatever he could. He is an abomination of nature. The events of the past can't repeat again, even if the chances of that happening are slim."

"Yes, we agree on that. All the witch spirits on the other side support the notion of leaving that abomination inside his prison. But I'm afraid that you are facing an imminent danger, for maybe Malachai will run free once again in this world."

"How is that?" Joshua asked, worried. Everyone in the coven gasped at her words.

"The one who took the ascendant was the immortal Silas."

"Silas? It can't be!" Joshua exclaimed in disbelief, his eyes wide open.

"It's impossible!"

"He should be trapped in his tomb!"

"Silas?"

"How is this happening?"

The coven was agitated at such words, incredulity running like wildfire among its members.

"Ancestor, it can be possible. We are protecting both the immortals' bodies so they wouldn't be found by the Travelers. We recently moved the anchor to a new place."

"Silas has been awoken for a while. You all just never knew," the ancestor's voice sounded neutral. "He was actively awakened by a Bennett witch who was manipulated and a group of vampires."

Noise ran among the witches at such news.

"Said Bennett witch, tomorrow, is about to drop the veil to the other side as Silas intends to destroy it. But his plans have hit a bit of a bump as he lost the cure for immortality and needed a replacement. And he found one—a simple and smart, thoughtful option. A copy from the prison world."

"Who would have thought that our coven's powerful imprisonment spell to punish dangerous individuals or enemies of the coven could be used in such a way..." The ancestor seemed to be awed by such a thing before snapping from her thoughts. She looked at Joshua as she continued.

"That's where the ascendant from Malachai Parker's prison world comes into play. He somehow got hold of such information and is currently collaborating with someone of great power and an abomination on top of that. He is someone like Malachai but is plotting something on his own. He is planning to destroy the prison worlds as we speak. He already destroyed the prison world of Malachai silently, without making a noise and nobody noticing."

"But he didn't come out from there. It means only one thing. He is in another prison world. And that means more abominations. Soon, maybe everyone will be released along with Malachai."

"Nature needs its balance, and you all need to protect yourselves from these devils. You need to thwart this plot of Silas and this unknown abomination that looks to destroy nature's balance."

Present day, an hour ago.

"Today is the day that witchy Bonnie is going to drop the veil."

"I'm afraid that isn't going to happen, vampire." A man's voice sounded between the woods.

Rebekah and Katherine tensed and became fully alert at the sudden unannounced voice.

"You all are trying to destroy and thwart nature's balance, and we can't let it happen."

The man showed up as he walked out of the woods with his whole Gemini Coven people backing him up as they appeared before Rebekah and Katherine. Their arrival was sudden and unannounced, catching the two women off guard. Rebekah and Katherine stood their ground, their eyes scanning the man in front and the coven with a mix of curiosity and wariness.

"Who are you, witch?" Rebekah asked without much patience as she showed her true face. She couldn't let anything happen before her son came back from wherever the place was that he was now.

Katherine was of the same mind as Rebekah as she stood in front of her protectively.

Joshua stepped forward as he eyed the two. "Vampires... an Original and an old one... Rebekah and Katherine," he began, his voice steady and without much thought. "We have come to stop Silas and his damned plans. We can't let him be roaming free and do whatever it is he wants to do with the ascendant."

"Much less let the abomination he is partnering with destroy the prison worlds for his use and let others similar to him walk into the world once again."

"Abominations?" Katherine asked dryly, being lost at what he was referring to with that word.

"Are the kind of witches that go against nature. They don't own magic of their own and need to take it from others. As the one that is helping Silas obtain the cure inside the prison world and destroying it."

Rebekah's eyes narrowed as she looked at the coven. "And how do you plan to do that?" she asked, her tone dismissive but worried inside. She couldn't leave the circle.

Joshua Parker smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes. "We have our ways. But first, we need to deal with you two."

Katherine scoffed, her eyes flashing with defiance. "You think you can take us on? You're mistaken."

Joshua chuckled, a sound of ridicule that echoed through the air and announced what was to happen next. "We are not just any witches, Katherine. We are the Gemini Coven, and we have powers beyond your comprehension."

Before Rebekah and Katherine could react, the coven began to chant, their voices rising in unison. The air around them shimmered with magic, and Rebekah felt a sudden pressure on her chest, as if an invisible force was pushing her down.

"Rebekah!" Katherine shouted, her voice filled with concern.

Rebekah gritted her teeth, her body trembling with the effort of resisting the coven's magic. But it was no use. She felt herself being lifted off the ground, her body suspended in mid-air as the coven's magic held her in place.

Katherine, seeing Rebekah's predicament, tried to rush to her aid. But she, too, was caught in the coven's spell, her body freezing in place as the magic took hold of her.

The leader of the coven stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "You are no match for us, Katherine. You and Rebekah are outnumbered and outpowered."

Katherine's eyes flashed with anger, but she knew the leader was right. She was no match for the coven's magic. She could only watch as Rebekah was lifted higher into the air, her body suspended above the ground.

"Now," the leader said, her voice cold and calculated. "We will deal with Silas and his plans. But first, we need to make sure you two are out of the way."

With a wave of her hand, the leader cast a spell that sent Rebekah and Katherine crashing to the ground.

"No!" The girls cried out midair desperately as Rebekah left the circle. Magic started going wild around the place as it started leaking, and it seemed like the space was trying to break apart. They landed with a thud, their bodies aching from the impact. But they knew they couldn't give up. They had to find a way to stop the coven and Silas from waking up.

As the coven began to chant again, Rebekah and Katherine looked at each other, their eyes filled with determination and a bit of desperation. They knew they had to act fast. They couldn't let the coven continue doing as they pleased.

But how? They were outnumbered and outpowered; everyone was a witch. They needed a plan. And fast.

Meanwhile, deep within the prison world, Joe felt a disturbance in the air. His body began to tremble, and he felt a sudden urge to leave the comfort of his lovers' arms. He knew something was wrong.

He jumped out of bed, his body shaking with an unknown force. He could feel the magic in the air, and he knew it was coming from the outside world.

"What's happening?" his lovers asked, their voices filled with concern.

Joe looked at them, his eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination. "Something's wrong," he said, his voice steady. "I need to go out there. I need to see what's happening."

With a determined look on his face, Joe began to channel all the power he had amassed so far. The prison world around him began to crumble, and he could feel the magic coursing through his veins.

"Dimiterre." Joe chanted as he extended his hand and felt the object he was calling for resisting for a moment. He growled. "Corporis impetu!" Soon, a moment later, the ascendant came breaking through the walls as it rested on his hand.

"Call for everyone; we are leaving now! If they are late for a moment, they will stay and die here." He said to the girls as he focused on breaking apart the world. "Also, Valerie, Nora, Mary, give me a hand."

He asked his witch lovers to help him channel the power, and together, they began to breach open a portal to the outside world. As soon as Joe stepped out of the portal, he took a look around and saw his mothers being hurt and struggling as they knelt before a man and a group of people. He began to channel all his magic in an expansive wave all around, knocking out all the Gemini Coven members and making the trees near the center be uprooted cleanly from the ground and flying away.

The effort took a toll on him, but he didn't care. He walked naked to his mothers and took them into his embrace. "I'm back," he smirked as he embraced them both.

"Finally!" Katherine pouted as she embraced him. "We thought that something would have happened because they forced me to leave the circle, son! I was terrified." Rebekah rested her face on the crook of his neck as she smelled and felt his body on hers.

"I'm fine, but I did need to act fast; otherwise, I would have been in quite a complicated position." Joe wryly said. "Still, I have yet to reconnect with my physical body." He said as he took Rebekah's cheek into his hand and made her look at him, and he kissed his mother, his eyes filled with a bit of relief as he felt again the connection that tied him to his real body.
