Suddenly, the gorilla turned around and sprinted back past him.
"Huh? It figured it out?"
A deafening roar echoed.
A massive brown bear, covered in scars, eyes blood-red, charged toward them.
Its forearm was as long as Luffy's entire body.
The gorilla fainted instantly.
Luffy grinned.
He dashed forward, arm coated with Armament Haki.
Leaping off a rock, he slammed his fist into the bear's gut.
"Gum-Gum Pistol!"
BOOM!
The punch sent the bear flying, smashing through two boulders before collapsing unconscious.
Monkey D. Garp, who had just arrived, froze.
"...What the hell? My grandson can use Armament Haki at seven?"
…
"Luffy, listen well! You're going to be the strongest Marine in history!"
Sitting on the bear's belly, Garp declared solemnly.
"I refuse. I promised Shanks—I'm gonna be a pirate!" Luffy argued.
Garp's fist trembled with fury. But Luffy, unfazed, wrapped his small hand in Armament again.
"You dare raise a hand to your grandpa?"
"When you get old and weak, I'll beat you up and give you bumps all over!"
Pure, unstoppable grandchild rebellion.
Seeing the kid wasn't joking, Garp's eye twitched, and he slowly lowered his fist.
Luffy grinned smugly.
He recalled the legendary line from the original timeline:
"I'm the man who's going to be King of the Pirates — Luffy!"
