Chapter 1 - Prologue

A skinny man with fair porcelain-colored skin stood in a vast darkness. Burning dots shimmered in the space above, and he knew he shouldn't look below. His white silk-like hair flowed to his chest, or at least it would if not for the lack of a force to pull it down at present.

He struggled to form thoughts as time passed in this space. He stared at the shimmering sky, waiting for a response.

"What is your purpose?"

The porcelain man turned to the direction of the voice, and saw a figure approaching. Black and crystalline, yet each of its steps as fluid as flesh and bone. He thought for moments until the crystal figure came face to face with him.

Where the crystal figures face should be, there were no features. Instead, as the porcelain man gazed into the surface he saw something akin to the shimmering sky above him, yet all of the bright white shimmering was replaced with dull multi-colored specks. In response to the question posed by the crystalline figure, the porcelain man answered.

"I don't remember."

The crystalline figure asked another question.

"But you are sure you have one?"

The porcelain man nodded.

With that gesture, the crystalline figure raised its hand, and covered the eyes of the porcelain man.

"Then you will speak it to me yourself when you decide on an answer, Isel"

A name, he was given a name. Isel, the man with porcelain skin and silver silken hair. He knew who he was, and he knew once his eyes were uncovered he would know where he was. But as for why he knew, that as something he couldn't answer for himself.

The crystalline figure spoke once again. Yet this time it felt uncanny, like it was not entirely directed to Isel.

"I am not to be seen, I am to be understood. I am not to be conversed with, I am to be shattered. I am where you will find your answers, I am where you will regret finding them. I am the Warden, you are Isel."

The crystalline figure removed their hand from Isel's eyes.
