Miguel Jimenez stared at the picturesque paintings designed in tantalizing order. These paintings ranged from a streak on the blue sky to white clouds drifting through the horizon and then, the fractures in space to ancient and modern space techs.
These paintings of his mostly had spacecraft, planets, cyborgs, robotics and mechanics drawn, with a few fluffy pictures of the sky and the clouds and today he was going to display them out for exhibition and auction.
As the rich son of a wealthy billionaire who had died and left billions to trillions of dollars in his care, he was bound to be respected by all which is probably why he had decided to hoist the program.
He watched the images with affection, imagining what it would be like to wear one of these space helmets and command a fleet of armies to wage war on other space aliens.
He chuckled when he remembered how wuxia novels had twisted his mentality and how engrossed he had been, reading sci-fi novels these days.
Miguel had been too invested. His late father had left a high profile company in his care but he had handed it over to his girlfriend to run as the CEO while he relaxed at home doing nothing but reading wuxia novels.
Naturally, he would have added his next of kin if he had probably had a brother or a close relation. But before he was born, his father had always been secluded. So he did not know if he actually had an uncle, a nephew, a cousin or a niece. His father did not say anything which is why he made his girlfriend the CEO of his company but that's not after he had gotten her pregnant.
That way, he tied her down to himself so that she wouldn't make away with his father's money.
Miguel turned his gaze towards the wallclock seeing as it struck six o clock. It was almost time for the exhibition and auction. He was dressed in a fancy blue tailored suit and the chain around his neck screamed attention.
He readied himself for a memorable event but all of a sudden, his expression changed drastically. Almost like a ghost, his face lost colour.
Miguel picked his hands and grabbed his hair, pulling at it with the intention to calm the splitting headache he felt at the moment and in a bid to soothe the ache, his face blackened, a wave of dizziness taking over and then; he lost consciousness.
Miguel did not wake up until 48 hours had passed.
After two days, his eyes cracked open. It felt almost like he had been sedated and was struggling to cancel the effect of the drugs.
He looked around trying to understand where he was. He remembered that he was supposed to be putting out his paintings for exhibition and yet, he is here, lying straight in a rhumbus shaped cubicle.
'What is this place?'
He struggled to move his head. Something still prevented him from moving his body so for now, he could only move his eyes from left to right and he was limited to seeing this strange cubicle.
'Am I kidnapped?'
It seems like that is the case. Of course he had a lot of money already and the company was registered in his name. He inherited a lot of his father's properties with the documents signed and notarized in court. Yet, someone had abducted him for this same case.
Two hours later, Miguel could now feel his body and he turned his neck to the left. His brows furrowed.
His neck shifted to the right.
Strength found its way to his hands and he started to push the interior of the rhumbus until he pressed a compartment that shifted a lock, causing the lid to lift on its own with a loud hiss.
Sshhhhh
Miguel blinked, but not wasting the opportunity to be free, he crept out of the crevice and tumbled out of the strange cubicle, suddenly frowning at the size of rhumbus.
'How?'
The size of the cubicle was like that of a small generator but a human body could fit in it which was shocking.
He quickly ignored the cubicle, despite having interest in it because he did not understand the situation around him, why he would be trapped in a cubicle and who the enemies were. So he moved around the place but the technology within this small apartment shocked him.
He saw a display of holographic monitors, robotic engines, energy cores and humanoid generators. It started to make him wonder whether he had entered one of Wuxia sci-fi novels.
He momentarily forgot about escaping despite seeing freedom a few steps away. From what he understood at the moment, the criminals who had abducted him would not be coming any time soon so, he could as well play a bit with their toy.
He sat on the swivel chair and focused on holographic monitors and what he saw next scared the shit out of him.
