Chapter 3 - An Odd One Out

Yenka excused herself from Felicity and went after the figure, that has suddenly disappeared. But she wasn't searching, she just walked straight out of the house, and into the backyard. A slim figure stood there in the grim. Yenka walked calmly towards her, the lady dressed in a black hood.

"You came!" Yenka said.

"She's dead!" The person replied. Yenka let out a laugh, one that didn't quite resonate with her. A laugh she didn't plan for, but did not fit the situation either. "Then bury her!" Yenka said, emotionless.

"She asked if you still won't change your mind," the person said. Yenka shook her head. That was her saying no without uttering the word.

"Then you better come. She will be cremated,"

Yenka looked at the woman standing in front of her, her fists tightened against her side; is that what she asked for? Yenka's voice was trembling, but she was fighting so much not to let out a tear.

"It's your duty to perform the rites. No one will do that for you," the person said. Yenka nods her head in acknowledgement. "Be there in three days," and just like that the person vanished into thin air. Yenka nods at her last statement even though she already disappeared. She sniffed in and raised her head high, broadened her shoulders a little bit and then forced a smile across her face before turning around to see Vivian standing right in front of her.

"How much did you hear?" she asked, yet looked unbothered. "who is dead?" Vivian had a perplexed look on her face. Yenka frowned at the sight of terror in Vivian's eyes.

"Don't ruin the mood," Yenka said, her voice sounding cold and void of emotion. Then she walked back in to join the party, her party.

When she got inside, Cain asked her where she had been. She just smiled and told him she felt hot, and had gone outside to get some air. Cain smiled at her, then wrapped his arms around her waist. "You know you should have asked me to join you," he grinned like a slaughtered sheep. Yenka kissed his cheek, then she left him. She walked upstairs, her slender body trembled with each step she took.

Cain watched her go upstairs. He was going to join her, she was inviting him, it's the reason for that kiss she planted on his cheek. With his eyes fixed on Yenka's back, he made his way to the stairs. Just as he stepped on the foot of the stairs, he heard a loud growl sending a vibration across his brain, it was deafening, but commanding. He felt the urge to go on his knees, it wasn't just him, everyone did.

He turned to see almost everyone struggling just as he was, battling the urge to let out a howl with their knees to the ground. That compelling urge soon died down with a few already bowed with their knees to the ground, a few that were not Alphas.

Cain knew that this has taken everybody's attention away from the party as some of the werewolves he invited to the party started searching for the one with such a compelling aura.

"With such an aura, only a true Lycan can command even an Alpha wolf like that," someone said. But he was probably thinking out loud because he seemed to be talking to himself and didn't notice that everyone's focus was now on him.

"Zucas, what do you mean," Alpha Cain was no longer focused on Yenka who has gone out of sight. Zucas looked up to see that all eyes were now on him; he took a few step back while using his hand to demonstrate for everyone to calm down.

"You didn't hear me say nothing, it's only a speculation," he said. "A pure blooded Lycan don't exist. They ceased to exist centuries ago!" he added, trying to convince everyone not to bother with his words. But he already planted a seed of weary in the heart of many, especially with the Alpha's that were gathered at the party.

Rufus rushed to Cain's side, "I think you should find a way to get everyone's mind back into the party."

Cain sighed, then he raised his head. "What Lycan? That must have been a sign from the moon goddess to honour my new Luna," he jeered at the Lycan talk, and tried to put Yenka in the limelight. It did work, but not for everyone. While some honestly laughed it off, one of them sent someone to check things out. He stood by a corner with his eyes sharp like the edge of a sword. He had a scar that cuts across his left eyebrow. His face finely chiselled like that of sculpture, intentionally made to look that way. While everyone was mixing and having fun, he was simply observing.

"You are an odd one out, huh?" he looked to his side to see a fine lady standing next to him. She had her slender body pressed against the wall, with a glass of wine in one hand, and a smile on her lips. Her eyes were daring, piercing into his very sharp eyes. He thought she would retreat if he gave her the dead stare, but she just stared right back at him, neither trying to intimidate, nor counter him. Yet, it felt intimidating, that she wasn't intimidated by him.

He leaned in to take in her scent, she smelled nice, like rose, fresh off the garden. "Why do you feel familiar?" he asked. She smirked. "Because I'm the reason you got invited here," she said, the smile not leaving her face. He creased his brow out of confusion. He wanted to ask if she knew him, but she shook her head even before the words could leave his mouth.

"I'm Yenka, the new Luna!" she said with her hand out for a handshake. He took a few steps back, then looked at her again and realised he had not taken note of Cain's new Luna until now. She looked beautiful, a man like Cain would not be able to handle her – not like a queen.

"You have fallen for me!" Yenka chuckled as she poked him on his shoulder before walking away.

You have fallen for me; that's something he thought he has heard before. But where? Where and who did he hear tell him that? He raised one brow at Yenka's retreating figure as she walked right into Cain's arm.

"I thought you had gone upstairs," Cain muttered into her ear as he grabbed her ass. She clicked her tongue, her eyes on the man she just walked away from, with her body slightly resting on Cain's. It's obvious, she was right. It's him.
