Ring~ Ring~ Ring~
The sounds of bells echoed throughout a certain wooden building. The building was bustling full of people who wore blue robes and a single green clover on their chest. These people looked no older than fifteen years old, and carried books along with them.
This was the Magic Academy of Clovers. Clover Academy was the only magic academy in the Clover village, and was known as one of the strongest out of the four major villages. Magic was scarce amongst the commoners, but if someone could wield magic, one would jump up in social status.
Though this doesn't mean that they could do whatever they want like in the novels, and if you did anything illegal in the village, you'd immediately be captured and sent to prison.
Kevin Kent could care less about the social status given to mages, and is currently heading towards his current class.
Kevin Kent was born from a family of one mage and one commoner. His father was a mage while his mother was a commoner. The two met when his father was on a mission transporting her family's merchandise across the Clover village and into one of the mortal towns for trade.
The two got acquainted during his time travelling with them, which ended up with the birth of him, Kevin Kent.
Luckily for him, Kevin was born with mana, making him able to take the path of a mage.
Kevin was an ordinary boy, in fact he was quite the disgusting one.
In his past life, he was a biologist that mainly focused on genes and mutations. He would experiment on rats, dogs, cats, or whatever his greedy hands could get a hold of. His methods were rouh at best, and each experiment would end up killing his subject, thus he slowly lost the funding of his sponsors, making him have only one test subject: Himself.
As you might have expected, he died, and became this world's Kevin Kent.
Kevin walked through the hallways, nimbly passing by each student and made sure he didn't bump into anyone on his way. The floors were made out of hardwood, making every step of each student creek as they walked. Kevin at first found this obnoxious, but slowly got used to it over time.
Eventually after a bit of walking, Kevin reached class 1-A.
In Clover Academy, class 1-A is for genius commoners and clans of the village. The best teacher teaches here, giving the students of class 1-A a higher advantage than the other students. Not like they needed it anyways, especially those coming from clans.
Clans have their own ways of teaching their descendants. The academy was merely a tool to get their magic license, and become a mage of the village.
Walking into the class, Kevin immediately walked to the back of the class, ignoring the others around him.
Ice Queen in the front row? Check. Strange fire boy in the second row alongside strange sunny boy? Check. Cute little boy with rosy cheeks who is a little too charming for his own gender in the third row? Check.
Kevin began counting the people he passed by as he moved his way down to the last row.
As a biologist, he always found the people of this world to be truly magical, and he isn't meaning the fact that they could use magic and what not, but the blood in their bodies.
The reason why clans can instantly join the best class in the Clover Academy was mainly because they had special bloodlines that gave them physical enhancements.
In the world of magic, the amount of mana you have is tied to your spiritual and physical powers, also known as Yin and Yang release. People of this world have developed ways to increase their spiritual power by meditating, but physical cultivation was the same as earth's, the plant he came from.
They also had a lack of understanding of the human body here, making them cultivate their physical body through mainly cardio. As a biologist in a world of magic, Kevin simply didn't care for the rugged physical cultivation here, but was more interested in the bloodline of the clans in this village.
I just need to take my time, that's all. It won't take long before I make a drug that can speed up my physical cultivation with mana. Kevin thought as his eyes narrowed.
When he turned six, a system called the Laboratory System was bound to him, and with in the
System, he could study anything he desired and even test it on himself without dying. Though, if he succeeded, he'd need to make the drug in person as the effects don't stay in the system.
He could also mess around with some magic, but what would be the fun in that if you could experiment on yourself?
Perhaps Kevin was too immersed in his thoughts and his eyes dazed off into the distance, that he didn't notice that a boy the same age as him sat down next to him.
"Kevin! Didn't you hear that we'll have an actual magic battlefield test next week? Haha, I can't wait to slap that damn Flamme person in the face with my new strength!" The boy said, getting uncomfortable close to Kevin.
"Dane, the Flamme clan isn't something you can handle with pure physical strength alone. You need to attack them with mana from a long range to cause actual injury to them. From what I've observed, they can coat their body in a flame-like substance that combust on contact, making them extremely strong warriors as they get hotter as they fight." Kevin said, creating some distance between the two and dusted off his shoulders.
"And that's why I have you! You're the smartest person in this class, surely you have a way to deal with that Jin Flamme guy!" Dane Leben said, not caring for Kevin's little actions.
Jin Flamme who was the fire boy kevin pointed out as he walked down the classroom snorted and turned around.
"The power of the Flamme clan isn't so easy to understand, especially from a commoner with no bloodline." Jin Flamme said, and Dane immediately got mad hearing this.
"Who do you think you are acting all great! Fight me right now and see who is stronger!" Dane said, slamming onto the desk as he stood up.
Jin Flamme gave a disdainful laugh and turned back around, ignoring Dane's challenge.
"Hey, don't ignore me! Are you scared to accept my challenge?" Dane said, his voice raising.
Kevin felt a headache coming along, and pulled Dane down who was still cursing at Jin.
"Stop it! Your words mean nothing. Didn't you say that a magic battlefield test is being taken next week? Prove yourself there." Kevin said, talking some sense into Dane.
Dane nodded, and his spirits lifted, "You're right, I'll make sure I beat that guy to the ground when the time comes!"
Kevin shook his head and his mind began to wonder again.
A magic battle test coming up next week? Why? According to the information I've gathered since I've come to Class 1-A, no magic battle tests were done or recorded in the past, so why are they doing it now? Could something happen and they need to prepare the children for war?
Kevin's eyes narrowed, and something fishy was going on with the village. He didn't believe that the school just so happened to test their students in a magic battle exam which is normally done with graduating students. They could fool the kids with excitement, but Kevin didn't think things were so simple.
War is the only thing I can think of. Alongside the Clover village, there are three other main magic villages; Diamond, Clubs, and Hearts. But when did the conflict become so bad? I'll have to ask my father and mother once I go back home. Sigh, politics yet again affecting my time of research.
Also, how did Dane know about the magic battlefield test? The teacher hasn't even announced it yet. I doubt he's lying, he's too stupid not to lie.
Kevin glanced at Dane at the corner of his eye, and saw he was deeply engaged with others.
Dane was Kevin's only friend, as he was the only one who even bothered to talk to Kevin who looked all gloomy and silent. But that didn't seem to bother Dane one bit, and he talked to everyone in the class as friends except for Jin Flamme.
As for why? Jin Flamme won the heart of the girl he has a crush on, Gwen Shells.
To be honest, Kevin couldn't blame Dane for having such a deep crush on her. She was beautiful, but Kevin didn't care about that. It was her shapes and roundness that made Kevin intrigued.
He hasn't seen such perfect circles on someone's body. Even her arms and legs were built out of the perfect shapes.
Of course Kevin was only interested in that, and had no other thoughts on a fifteen year old.
