Chapter 1 - 1. the shadows awaken

On a stormy night, the clouds above parted just enough for the light of the moon to reveal a towering castle within the void of darkness. The walls surrounding the castle were nothing but impressive. The brickwork was constructed using a mixture of marble, sandstone, and crushed quartz, creating a dazzling spectacle of the moon's reflected light. The foundation of the building was mostly marble with some sturdier cobblestone. Inside expansive halls decorated with silver and gold, paintings of landscapes and kings reflecting off the polished sandstone floor with quartz pillars adorning the halls of the castle.

The serenity of the castle is broken by an unwelcome guest, a shadow darting back and forth carefully and quietly, like a specter. Keeping distance from the guards oblivious to her presence. For a brief moment the shadow is seen as a guard looks over. Luckily for her, the grandeur of the castle gives her ample places to hide, using one of the pillars in the hall she gets out of view. "The hell was that?" the first guard asked his partner cautiously.

"Probably a trick of the shadows, old buildings like this at night can make you see anything." The second guard stated, dismissing the other guard's comment.

The small figure runs past shadows cast by the moonlight, revealing her as she does so, the individual was young, she had medium red-brown hair that was tied back. Her red eyes shined as the moonlight glistened off them. Her clothes were nothing but rags tied together. The most unique features being the feline ears that twitched at the smallest sounds and her well kept tail that seemed to have a mind of its own as it swished around dangerously. Her tail has a unique fluffiness to it, soft and clean, her ears twitching, listening for the guards. These gave her a massive advantage when it came to sneaking around, and allowed her to avoid the most populated parts of the castle. Suddenly a newfound presence hit her senses like an alarm going off. This was unlike the rest, the woman began to feel unease in a suspicion that she was being watched somewhere deep within the castle however despite her unique and advanced senses she was unable to narrow down a location.

"I wonder what this feeling is, I know I sent something but I can't see it I can't smell it but yet I know it's here why do I know it's here why do I feel scared no…. I'm being stupid I have to do my mission. I can't worry about what ifs.," she whispered to herself.

"Alright, you got this Moxie… I can do this yeah, sure I can totally sneak into a castle where there's probably dozens upon dozens of guards," The girl thought to herself.

Moxie continues to dash as she slips into a small room, a grin crossed her face, as she had arrived at the location where she was to kidnap the princess of the Wild Empire. The simple thought of "Should I really be doing this?" dances across her mind of course. As Moxie stepped out of the shadows and softly approached her target she couldn't help but notice her clothes were completely torn, this made her stick out like a sore thumb in this castle, if it was broad daylight, but fortunately for her the night was young and the storm provided an enormous distraction.

"These halls are like puzzles. Luckily I was given a proper map, I just have to head this direction," Moxie thought to herself.

Stepping further into the room, Moxie noticed a gate that blocked her from her target. It was a thin gate, of course any guards or any family probably had a key, however with the size of the holes in the gate she could easily slip in between them due to her slender body. Moxie, with cunning agility, slips herself through the gate, going between it as quickly as she could, she ends up slicing her hand on a sharp piece of the gate. It was so sudden she didn't even notice it, at that very instant blood started dripping down her hand onto her white worn-down clothes staining them.

"That was a little too easy…oh well best not to overthink things" Moxie thought to herself.

Slipping past the gate leaving it now stained with her lifeblood, Moxie peered over a small bed which held the small child she was tasked with capturing.

"Ok, I got this," Moxie said to herself softly. Reaching her gaze over to the child, her eyes focused on the child's beautiful blonde hair.

However, this is only one perspective of this story, many others connect like a spider's web being spun interconnecting them together that eventually meet in the center. Before you can even understand the full picture of the story, you will have to understand the viewpoint of everyone involved…..
