Chapter 2 - 2. the bigger picture

We find ourselves following four individuals traveling through the dark of the night in the ruins of a destroyed city. Rubble littered the ground and rusted cars blocked the path forcing them to move around the remnants of this former city. The first one was around six foot seven with medium brown hair and bright as the sun topaz eyes that heavily contrast his completely black, strapped together, neat leather armor. The next male has rougher features, a goatee that's wild and unkept, his face has a small burn mark that covers his lower right cheek. Even though he looks mostly human, the wolf ears and tail are a dead giveaway for him being a Wolfborn. Another member of the party, an orc male, turned to the larger male giving a concerning glance.

"You are sure the artifact is in here Tyson?," The orc says to the larger male.

"Of course I am David, you'd have to be blind as a viperbat to think otherwise," Tyson replied.

"Yeah besides, has the boss man ever lied to us," the small male says.

"Suppose you're right Brangoao," David says to the small male as the smaller male winces at hearing that name.

"I told you please don't use that name. Just use Bingo now… please," the small male pleaded.

"But it's an improper, childish name. And another thing, don't call the Wild King 'boss man', refer to him as 'his majesty', I know you're new to the team, only joining this week, but still proper etiquette of names is important," David said as Bingo scampers away.

"Just drop it David, it's obviously a sore subject," the small elf stated.

"But it's the proper-," David first stated before being interrupted by Tyson "It's fine,".

"Thank… you um miss Moondrop," Bingo says to the small elf.

"Just Moon," the elf replies.

"But proper name etiquette…." David mumbled. As the group continues walking into the mouth of the cave.

The team from the Wild Empire continued their trek through the city, Tyson leading the way showing experience the other 3 seemed to be lacking in. The emblem on his armor gave him away as one of the 20 Guardians, an elite title within the empire. Despite Tyson's young age, he carried an aura of danger around him, one that was only made more present by the large greatsword on his back. One roughly as large as Tyson himself, he also carried a curved longsword, at his hip, with the head of a wolf on the handle. Tyson's large stature made it slightly difficult for him to traverse the interiors of the ruins forcing him to duck in most areas and barely squeeze through others, eventually they came across a rather old and run down building. At one point in time this building was probably once beautiful when it was in its prime, now it stands just as destroyed as the rest of the city.

However, the most notable thing was that for the most part the metal walls were completely fine, it glistened as if it had been kept up to date all these years. Whatever this building used to be acts only now as a vault of artifacts from a truly bygone era. Artifacts that would be useful to the Wild King. The orc was large as well; he was slightly smaller than Tyson with him standing at slightly over six feet David is bald and has a large frame he's also heavier when it comes to bodyweight. David has darkish green skin, with what appears to be black tattoos covering his body all unique lines and patterns. A spiked club loosely grasped in the orc's hand as he glanced around, awed by the building.

Moondrop, an elf with a more petite build than that of her companions, just shy of six feet in height presents herself as a calm individual with long flowing brown hair, she's wears a light blue robe with a tint of yellow to them, she holds a small wooden staff in her hand and a book in her other as she walks along with the others, jotting down notes whenever she passes by something interesting. Lastly there's Bingo, barely standing at five feet. His dirty unkempt black hair goes nearly to his shoulders, he wears barely any armor, just basic clothes. Compared to his companions, he is not as mature.. He has a look of inexperience and nervousness that reflects his status as a simple squire.

The four of them were given this job by the current king of the wild empire directly. They have been sent to grab the artifact that was believed to be held in this recently discovered ancient building. As such they needed to hurry. It wouldn't take long for others to show up. Other factions, treasure hunters, bandits and killers alike, all interested in grabbing loot for themselves. Killing any who stood in their way without a second thought.

Upon reaching the heart of the city, the giant building loomed over the four of them through a thick, overgrown forest. Its presence gave off an uneasy feeling for the four of them as they looked upon what they believe now to be the palace of the dead kingdom. The building's 4 large pillars, seemingly a symbol of strength to the dead empire, now lay broken in front of the building. .nearby there were some odd pink trees but they seemed to be barely holding on, nearby was an old sign, adorned with a giant eagle, with an unknown plant grasped in one claw and arrows in the other... Off to the sides of the main palace were two more buildings, one on each side reclaimed by nature. Tyson nervously scratched at goatee studying the building for a moment, but before he could speak he noticed Bingo take off, the kid seemed to be filled with adventure oblivious to danger.

The building was eroded and rotting. It could be hundreds of years old, its rot caused by the uncaring touch of father time..

Bingo moved closer towards the building, getting a truly good look at it. The windows were shattered, and most of the metal of the building was completely rusted, barely hanging on. If not for a large tree that had grown through the building, the entire thing would have collapsed by now. A cruel irony, the very nature that destroyed it is now the only thing keeping it standing.

"Bingo quit goofing about, and get over here it's dangerous!" David shouted. He was truly worried about the kid. David knew that underestimating things could lead to your downfall immediately so he wanted to remind Bingo of that fact, David's glare stayed on bingo momentarily as Bingo stopped in his tracks, nearly creating an accidental dust cloud because of how fast he stopped.

"It's fine.. Even if there are any dangerous folk around, I'm sure the four of us can handle it," Bingo replied with a small chuckle.

"You should still pay attention and be alert. You don't know what dangers are out there, going to an unknown location, a place that's never been discovered by our people and you're goofing around. Maybe you aren't ready for this mission," David said coldly.

"No it's not like that I just…. Wanted to take a quick look inside the building, You guys were just taking a bit ...." Bingo said

Moondrop chuckles hearing the exchange between David and Bingo. She really tries to stop herself from doing so because she knows David is in the right, but she finds their interaction somewhat cute, since this is David's way of showing affection.

"Bingo, I have to unfortunately agree with David here. It seems to be that we ourselves are in an extremely dangerous situation, so please have some self-control. We don't need to risk death," Moondrop said softly.

Tyson noticed a disheveled sign that was overgrown with vines and nearly rooted into the ground. Tyson scanned it with his eyes, a puzzled look quickly painted onto Tyson's face.

"Washington DC?, I wonder if this was some kind of castle?" Tyson asked out loud.

"I'm not sure to be honest, it's truly a relic of the past" Moondrop mentioned.

"Perhaps but we should be careful nonetheless we don't know what is inside. Hell, we were lucky to even find this place" David added, as Bingo stood awkwardly wanting to go inside but forced himself to patiently wait.
