Sunny's POV
Sunny's father slammed the prophecy book so hard on the table that the golden inkwell jumped and spilled across the royal meeting room.
"You knew," King Apollo said, his voice shaking with fury and heartbreak. "You both knew that one of you has to die, and you didn't tell us."
Sunny flinched as if he'd been slapped. Through their bond, he could feel Luna's identical pain as she faced the same confrontation in the Night Realm. Both sets of parents had figured out the truth at exactly the same time.
"We were trying to find another way," Sunny said weakly.
"Another way?" Queen Celeste's voice carried through the magical communication crystal that connected both palaces. "There is no other way! Do you think we haven't been searching every ancient text for weeks?"
Sunny's mother appeared through the portal, her silver hair wild and her eyes red from crying. She grabbed Sunny in a hug so tight he could barely breathe.
