Sunny's POV
The moment Luna's heart stopped, Sunny felt like someone had ripped his soul in half.
"NO!" he screamed, falling to his knees in the dark forest. Every tree around him burst into golden flames from his wild magic. "Luna! Come back to me!"
But their bond was empty. Silent. Dead.
For ten seconds that felt like ten years, Sunny couldn't feel Luna anywhere. It was like trying to breathe underwater—impossible and terrifying. His whole body shook as tears poured down his face.
She can't be gone, he thought desperately. I won't let her be gone.
Sunny pressed both hands against his chest, right where their bond usually glowed warm and purple. He poured every bit of his love through that connection, sending it across the border between their realms like a golden river of hope.
"Luna Nightwhisper," he whispered, putting all his power into her name. "I love you. I need you. Come back to me."
