A young boy, maybe 6 years old, with spiky hair the color of shadows walked across the street.
"Yo. Megumi Fushiguro-kun, right?"
Megumi hears the voice, it comes from a young man, maybe ten years older than Megumi. The man's eyes, which have the power to see through the nature of reality and curses, were covered by black sunglasses, his hair was as white as snow, the man had an odd look on his face, his mouth wide open and his eyes squinting.
"You look just like him, is all…"
The young man confesses, as the image of the muscular man, dark-haired man passes through his mind. He sees Megumi's confused look.
"My own issue. Anyway, your Dad. He's from this big shot Jujutsu family called the Zenin. They're really all scumbags, they make me sick. That's why your Dad left them and had you. Now you're one of those rare ones who can see things, and the Zenin love strong powers, most sorcerers become aware of their powers around your age. So, your old man, he-"
Megumi has no care for the topic of discussion and cuts him off.
"Why the Hell would I care about him? He left me and Miki when Mom died."
The young man's face crinkles in a frown.
"Are you really a first grader?… oh, well. The next question is what you want to do next. Do you want to go to the Zenin Clan? They'll shape you into a strong sorcerer, but…"
Megumi's attention is caught by this.
"Sorcerer?"
The young man adjusts his shades, thinking of how to explain.
"You know those creepy things only you can see? They're Curses, and sorcerers hunt them."
Megumi doesn't even think before responding.
"So these 'Zenins' will teach me to hunt those things?"
The young man has a vision of the young boy in front of him ending up a cruel and hateful member of the Zenin clan, this vision drives his next move.
"Or I can take care of you, kid. I don't mean to brag, but I'm the strongest."
Megumi adjusts the straps of his backpack before giving his answer.
"Whatever, I just want to fight those things."
So, Megumi goes with the white haired young man, Gojo Satoru. He recalls what led him to making this decision. It was after his mother died and his father disappeared, leaving Megumi with his stepmother. He's playing in the backyard with his stepsister when an monster appears, terrifying the young Megumi.
"Miki! What is that?!"
Megumi screams, Tsumiki, a normal human can't see it.
"Calm down, Meg-"
Her head is ripped off, gore spraying across the yard. Megumi cries in fear and runs away, he outruns the curse, but his stepmother finds him after seeing Tsumiki's corpse.
"You psychopath! You murdered your sister!"
Megumi cries.
"I-it was the monster!"
Megumi's stepmother holds up the knife she brought, worried Megumi would attack her.
"I'm calling the police!"
Megumi runs away, Tokyo is no place for a young boy with no family. He works at a shipyard to afford food.
He hates it, the young boy is naturally intelligent, he sees so many ways the work could've been done better, but no one will listen to the young boy in a laborer position.
Megumi earns his first paycheck, despite the horror of the circumstance, he does feel a sense of joy in the fact that he earns a fair pay for the labor he did with his own hands, but while he goes to buy food, a group of older boys take his money.
"G-give it back!"
The older boys simply laugh, and leave Megumi.
Powerless.
Megumi Fushiguro has always been powerless.
Powerless to stop his father from leaving.
Powerless to save his sister.
Powerless to show people the right way to do things.
Powerless to protect his earnings.
Megumi Fushiguro swears never to be powerless again, and makes a promise to become the strongest sorcerer.
