Chapter 1 - Prologue - Command Room Explosion

Satoru Ryomen POV

A groan escapes from my lips "those damn idiot magi could have warned me that the simulation would have left me dizzy," I muttered shakily standing up to my full height.

"Oh, you're finally awake senpai?" came an unknown female voice I glance up only to see beautiful violet pink eyes "cute..." I couldn't help but mutter causing the pink haired girl to suddenly blush "a-ahh you really shouldn't say something like that so suddenly senpai!!" she stuttered.

I shake my head "sorry about that still a bit disoriented from the simulation I just went through," I said standing up and slicking my hair back to its original position.

"So, who might you be?" I asked stretching a bit causing my back to crack "Mashu Kyrielight I am with the A-team this over here is Fou," she said pointing to the white squirrel like creature.

I raise a brow at said creature as it let out a "Fou!" tapping my forehead "ho that's amazing Fou doesn't usually open up to anyone like that except me so far," Mashu said with surprise.

"Well, I suppose I don't mind the affection but if it bites or shits on me then there will be hell to pay" I said narrowing my eyes down at the creature which let out a soft "kyou!"

Mashu nervously chuckled.

"Oh my now that is interesting looks like Fou will be having a second caretaker then," came a sudden voice causing Mashu to jump slightly but I remained nonchalant having already sensed his presence and let me tell you I could sense a shit ton of malice coming off him.

I turned to face the voice seeing a man dressed in a Willy Wonka knock off dress "holy shit its Willy Wonka what are you doing here?! Shouldn't you be managing the chocolate factory," I exclaimed causing the man's eyes to twitch.

"Afraid I have no idea who this Willy Wonka is my name is Lev Lainur of the technicians here at Chaldea who are you?" he asked.

"Satoru Ryomen at your service," I introduce with a wave causing the man to let out a grunt "I see you're that one public applicant with the abnormal amount of circuits. How interesting well in any case you should probably head over to the Directors orientation before your late," Lev said walking off.

"We should probably follow after him Senpai," Mashu said as I followed after with a shrug.

-Orientation-

I should really be paying attention, but I am just to God damn tired for this so I fell asleep once more.

Suddenly a hand was about to slap me but my own hand reached up intercepting it "hoh? Did you seriously just try to slap me?" I ask seeing a girl dressed in a white lab coat, white hair, and golden eyes "of course I did how dare you fall asleep in the middle of orientation! Ugh I don't know who you are candidate but consider yourself kicked off from the first mission!"

I rolled my eyes stuffing my hands into my pockets "fine whatever it's not like I give a shit damn bitch," I muttered causing the woman's face to go red in anger "why you..." however nothing was uttered as I left.

"Geez what's a guy got to do to get some sweets around here?" I asked while walking down the hallway.

"Wait hold on senpai!" came a familiar voice causing me to pause "eh Mashu what are you doing here?" I questioned.

The girl panted softly having run up to catch up with me making me feel a bit bad "I...ha...asked the director if I could at least be excused so I could show you to your room," she said.

I let out a soft smile "thank you Mashu I would appreciate that a lot even though you didn't have to," I replied.

"It's not problem Senpai come on follow me,"

-Timeskip-

"Alright here it is Senpai I wish I could stay and chat for a bit longer but I need to go back now" Mashu said as I nodded letting her leave.

I then twisted the door open only to see another man sitting on the desk using the PC while eating Cake.

"Oi who the fuck are you? And what are you doing in my room?" I said raising the volume of my voice which caused the man to jump with a shout "ahhh crap I am so sorry I didn't think anyone else would be using this room thought I could use it to hide away from the director," the man quickly explained.

"Well, that's a pretty good reason then because hot damn is she such a massive cunt. Tell ya what you can hang out here whenever you need to in exchange you give me some sweets

like that cake over there," I said grabbing the plate without even waiting for a response.

"Oh man I was hoping to eat that though...sigh I guess it's not too bad of a deal," he reluctantly agreed causing me to grin "awesome the names Satoru Ryomen I am the 48th master candidate," I introduced taking a bite of the cake.

"Romani Archman I am Chaldea's main doctor and faculty member...also shouldn't you be getting ready for the first mission Satoru?" Romani said with a raised brow.

"Nah I was kicked out because I fell asleep during the bitch's lecture. Which by the way wasn't even my fault since the simulation was what caused it," I said twirling my fork and then digging in for another slice.

Romani winced again when I called her a bitch "you know director Olga isn't really that bad to have deserved that kind of name," he said rubbing the back of his head nervously.

I raise a brow pointing the fork at him "if she isn't that bad as you claim then why are you hiding here?" I called out making the man chuckle "touché, she threw me out of the ray shift room claiming that I was causing everyone to slack off so I've just been here sulking" he replied with a slight pout.

A sudden beeping sound caught our attention "Romani, we're going to start the Rayshift soon. Could you come here in case there's an emergency? The A Team's in perfect condition, but B Team is less experienced and they are displaying some slight abnormalities. It probably comes from anxiety. The inside of that Coffin is like a cockpit," came the familiar voice of Lev Lainur.

"Hey Lev I feel bad from them. Why don't I give them some anesthesia?" Romani replied.

"Yeah, hurry up will you? If you're in the infirmary then you can get here in two minutes," he said with hidden irritation before his voice went silent.

"Well...you may want to run since this clearly isn't the infirmary," I said finishing the cake off.

Romani nodded "yeah it's been nice chatting with you Satoru next time I'll pop by with more cake to share-" he was cut off when the whole place suddenly blacked out and the sound of an explosion rang out shaking the room.

"Ara why did everything just go black?" I asked.

"I don't know what's happening but you need to get out of here before the containment walls close. I have to go over to the command room!" Romani rushed out of the room.

I blinked "jeez I really hope I still get paid the fifty million I was promised," my hands buried themselves into the pockets of my dark colored pants.

Nonchalantly I left the room and made my way over to where the command room was.

I could have just left but I wanted to check if Mashu was still there.

She treated me kindly unlike any other people I met in my 18 years of life.

"Generator operation stopped, power level critical. Switch to the backup generator error please make switch manually containment wall will close in 40 seconds those who remain in Central Area, evacuate immediately" came the voice of the announcer.

I stopped in front of the sealed command doors "hmph damn doors think they can stop me, Dismantle," with a flick from my left hand the doors were instantly slashed apart by an invisible slice.

The sight of flames greeted me as I calmly stepped into the room ignoring all the other dead corpses until they finally locked on to where Mashu was

She lay slumped on the floor, her uniform stained with blood and a large piece of rubble laid on top of her.

My stomach clenched and for the first time since I arrived the haze of detachment faded.

"...Mashu?" I called out arriving to her side in a instant.

"Senpai" Mashu croaked her voice weak "you shouldn't be here...just leave me behind save yourself..."

I scoffed "woman who are you to tell me what to do?" my hands moved clenching the rubble.

Blue lines of energy covered my arms then without breaking a sweat I tossed the rubble off of her.

Blood pooled around Mashu's stomach which revealed a gaping hole "you...won't be able to f-fix...th-this senpai please just..go," Mashu begged.

"I refuse, someone pure like you does not deserve to die," I coldly said pressing a hand on her wound.

"Reverse Mana Flow," I muttered under my breath.

I visualized her internal structure veins, nerves, muscle, bone.

A gaping wound.

A failing heart.

Torn blood vessels but I didn't need to recreate her body, I just needed to force the blueprint to correct itself.

Mana flowed backwards through my circuits spiraling into my core before being pushed outward, tinged with a radiant reconstructive signature.

It was my own invention born from my experience, pain, and desperation within this accursed moonlit world.

Unlike normal healing magecraft this spell tapped into the soul's blueprint and forced the body to match it.

My hands glowed with pale cerulean light.

Mashu gasped beneath my palm as the torn flesh began to thread itself together.

Skin knitting and veins reconnecting even the torn lung tissue responded.

"Th-this is... senpai... what are you doing?" Mashu gasped.

I grunted sweat beading my brow "shut up, I'm not done yet."

"Containment wall closing in five seconds, warning all observation staff Chaldeas' state has changed. Now rewriting Sheba's near-future prediction data unable to detect the existence of mankind 100 years in the near-future of Earth. Unable to confirm human survivors, unable to guarantee mankind's future," came the announcment.

"Masters Baseline not reached, rayshift requirement not met. Searching for qualifying Master...found candidate No. 48, Satoru Ryomen reset as Master, unsummon Program, start. Spiritron Conversion start first order commencing operation," the announcement continued

"S-Senpai?" Mashu called out.

"What is it?" I asked almost done with the healing.

"Can...you maybe hold my hand?" she requested.

looked into her eyes violet and shimmering with pain, fear...and trust.

"...Yeah," I said quietly my voice losing its usual bite.

I reached out and gripped her hand with my right still using my left to finish the spell.

Her fingers trembled against mine, soft and cold but they were alive.

A moment later her vitals finally stabilized in my vision.

Her soul's blueprint had reasserted itself.

There were still some cracks, but the worst had passed the hole in her stomach was closed.

Her breathing, although labored returned to a rhythmic pace.

"You're safe," I whispered clutching her close to me.

The room shook again the floor beneath us groaning like the world itself was ending.

A blinding white flash engulfed our vision and when I opened my eyes I was no longer in the command room nor holding Mashu.

Only a desolate landscape that could only be described as hell.
