Chapter 1
"Mia" Maya yelled calling from downstairs. "Breakfast is ready "
"Coming" Mia answered as she gracefully applied her mascara, then a lipstick to complete the look. "Perfecto" she mumbled satisfactorily, adjusting her hair in front of her mirror.
She grabbed her bag, phone and her wallet and did a last minute check for a final satisfaction.
"Morning mom, morning dad"she said kissing them on the cheek, She touched the pancake smear on her mom's face and licked it
"Gross Mia" her mom said almost irritatingly as she gently brush off her hand reaching for a napkin to wipe off the stain. Mia chuckled trying to cuddle her mom
"Careful now, you don't want hot pancake ruining your pretty little face ". She scooted over giving way for her mom to serve the pancake
" I would love that" Maya mumbled
"Say what now" Mia turned to her sister who looked a lot like her but without no make up and a dorky look like she would always call her teasingly.
"Nothing " Maya rolled her eyes stuffing her mouth with pancake. "Gotta go".
She grabbed her bag dropping her plate in the sink with some pancake leftover still on it.
"Not so fast sis, already! Just like that" Mia said settling into one of the dining chair
"Yeah well too bad I don't have a boyfriend ready to pick me up every morning from my doorstep" Maya replied rolling her eyes
" Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not the cause of your problem, beside i told you Liam would love to also give you a ride"
"And I have told you severally that I'm fine, 15 minutes on my bike isn't too much, actually you should try it probably your tummy fat will try reducing"
"Excuse me" Mia scoffed turning over to her sister taken aback by her word " I could strangle you right now " Maya said clenching her fist
" Language girls" their dad said cutting them off
"But dad…." Mia was cut short with her dad's 'It's enough' look
"Urghh.. seriously" She groaned
"Bye mom, bye dad" Maya said giving a Mia mocking look.
"Bye sweetie" they responded.
PRESENT DAY
"Ahh" Maya gasped waking up from sleep , panting very hard "it's been long" she mumbled sweating profusely " Why now".
She got up on her feet staggering weakly to the bathroom. She pulled off her clothes gently, turned on the shower, sitting on the floor all curled up. She sat there sinking into her thoughts as if waiting for the water to wash all the pent up feelings she felt at the moment.
Minutes later she stood up, gently wiping her body with a towel, walking out of the bathroom she grabbed her phone on her desk
"6:40" she mumbled laying flat on the bed. She sighed as she brought out her laptop from her desk.
'Hey sis.. so today is my first day in college, a new place, new faces. Honestly I don't know what to expect,I don't even know if I have the right to experience this but I hope everything will be ok' she heaved a deep sigh as she pressed send with a pained look, shutting the laptop immediately.

"Maya it's time" her mom called
"Coming mom"
"You really need to be fast I have to get to work immediately after dropping you off at the airport"
Maya looked around her room as if giving it a final goodbye. "Wow" she pulled her box opening the door clumsily, she stopped to take one last look at the room before slowly pulling her her box which was almost twice her weight.
"You know you can always ask for help" her mom said from behind approaching her to give her a hand
"It's fine mom". Her mom paused as she watched her struggling with the box.
"Obviously it's not, you already declined my help do drive you to Chicago" her mom said feeling dejected
"Yeah mom six hours on the road, no thanks it's basically nerve wrecking for you especially"
"I know you are worried sweetie but for once you need to ask for help sometimes, besides I was going to take a leave to drive you there" she paused then sighed looking at her with a concerned look " I know you are worried but mom it's fine sweetie"
" I know mom" Maya mumbled enough for her mom to hear brushing off her hands gently off her shoulder.
"I will get the rest of the bags" her mom smiled heading into her room
The drive to airport was unusually quiet with Maya on her airpod, her mom contemplating whether to disturb her her or not
"Maya" she called "Maya she called again snapping her fingers to get her attention. Maya looked at her confusingly, with a look asking what was wrong,her mom signaled her to remove the airpod.she removed them looking puzzled
"Baby you are starting a new life, heading to new place which will be surprisingly tough if you ever need someone to talk too just know I will be here waiting for you always" her mom said almost like a whisper tucking Maya's hair gently behind her ear
"Yeah mom, don't worry I will be fine"
"Ok sweetie"
Maya smiled putting in the airpod back into her ear humming the song she was listening to
Arriving at Chicago wasn't an easy one as she had thought, from waving her mom a good bye at the airport as she slowly disappeared into the airport's crowd until she couldn't see her mom,to a thirty minutes delay at the airport and worst of all sitting beside a woman with a toddler who kept nagging at both his mom and her.
Finally getting to her campus she couldn't be more happier
"I wonder what my roommate will be like" she thought.As far as she knew, her roommate's dad was a pastor with the little chat they had back when she was at home, she felt kinda weird about it at first but still she didn't mind
"At least she sounded nice" She thought convincingly
She gasped as she slowly stepped into the campus ground marveled at the beautiful scenery, last time she came was with her parent which she didn't like the idea of them tagging along so she didn't notice how beautiful the campus looked.
"Do you need help" someone said walking towards her, she looked confused not sure if he was talking to her
"Yeah, you"he said again pointing to her
"Ahh nah, it's fine" she replied immediately feeling awkward trying to hide her face
"Well I don't think I can't leave all this to you to handle, what kind of guy would I be". She tried declining him again but he wouldn't take no for answer eventually she gave up.
"Nice! I will grab this you can hold this"
"Thanks" she smiled feeling shy
"Hey Alex" someone called from afar, she couldn't get a look at who it was but somehow she felt the voice sounded familiar almost nostalgic but cold which made her thought she was probably wrong.
"Coming man, I need to help a lady I will catch up with you later"
"Whatever" the voice replied coldly which gave her chills, she tried catching a glimpse of the person but people were gathered around him mostly girls so she couldn't see the person.
"Sorry about that let's go" Alex said snapping her out of her thoughts
"Oh yeah" she quickly grabbed the rest of her things trailing behind him
" sorry that was my friend.. well he can be a jerk sometimes, I dare say,but he his a nice guy deep down" he said jokingly, she smiled half way slowly averting her eyes
"So what dorm"
"Snell- Hitchcock hall"
"We are almost there"
"Thanks" she replied with her voice almost cracking
"So your major" he asked gently adjusting his grip on the box
"Painting"
"Oh wow,mine is fine art"
"Nice". She had honestly felt nervous deep down and didn't know how to reply again, all she wanted was to get to her dorm quickly.
She looked around searching for room until she finally saw it
"I guess this is my stop" she said reaching to collect her box
"Ohh no problem, but I still can help with getting this into your room" he pulled back from her, she paused and sighed
"No problem". She had thought if she declined he wasn't going to back down easily all she wanted was for this to end quickly.
She knocked on the door but got no reply, surprisingly she opened the door but it was locked so she let herself in with Alex following behind.
She heard noises coming from the room she looked around looking confused. Alex laughed behind her like he had already figured it out, she looked at him confusingly but he kept laughing.
The noise kept coming from the bathroom
"Ahh… harder"the voice screamed as if gasping for air. She quickly dropped her things and quickly headed for the bathroom feeling concerned as she felt someone was in trouble
" I think my roommate needs help" she said heading into the bathroom
"I don't think she is in troubl…" Alex tried saying but couldn't complete his sentence.
She busted into the bathroom gasping at the site of scene she witnessed, she paused standing with her mouth opened wide.
"Uhm.. sorry.. I …thought"she stammered looking dumbfounded her voice denying her " I didn't mean to interrupt" she yelled at the erotic scene of her roommate under the shower,naked with her body clasped by a naked man from behind
"Sorry" she hit her cheeks and rushed out of the bathroom looking bewildered. Her head couldn't contain the the embarrassment she was feeling. "Certainly hot for a pastor's child" she thought
Alex stood in front of her laughing hysterically
"Welcome to college" he said
"Ohhh you are still here" she rolled her eyes smiling sheepishly
