Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Witness

"Here he is again, this damned bastard."

"Heh, even if he has Uchiha blood, in the end he's nothing more than a stray dog!"

"Shh, are you looking to die? If they hear you, you might get thrown into prison."

"A child of rogue ninja, he will definitely become a traitor too. The Hokage is far too kind for taking this guy in."

...

Yuta walked along the streets of Konohagakure, head slightly lowered, a gloomy expression on his face.

He had been in this world for nine years now, and had spent five of those years in Konoha.

In these nine years, Yuta's emotions had gone from excitement to hatred.

Just as the villagers sneering at him said, Uchiha blood flowed through Yuta's veins.

However, the Uchiha Clan did not acknowledge him.

Because to preserve the purity of their bloodline, the Uchiha Clan only permitted intermarriage within the clan.

Yuta's parents had not followed this principle.

His mother was from the Uchiha Clan, but his father was a member of the Senju Clan, which naturally meant Yuta carried both of the clans' blood.

If Yuta's father had been an ordinary civilian, perhaps his situation would not have been so miserable. The Uchiha Clan might even have recognized him.

But it just so happened that his father belonged to the Senju Clan, the mortal enemies of the Uchiha Clan.

When Yuta's mother became pregnant with him, the clan leader and elders of the Uchiha Clan discovered it. They immediately placed Yuta's mother under house arrest and even tried to force her to abort the child.

Upon learning of this, Yuta's father snuck into the Uchiha Clan's territory, rescued Yuta's mother, and fled from Konohagakure.

Of course, the Uchiha Clan could not allow Uchiha blood to be left outside the village. They immediately reported the matter to the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Sarutobi Hiruzen promptly declared Yuta's parents to be rogue ninja and dispatched the Anbu to hunt them down.

Yuta's parents successfully escaped, eventually hiding in a small village without any ninja, where they lived happily for four years after Yuta's birth.

Those four years were the happiest times of Yuta's life.

But disaster eventually struck.

A horde of wild beasts broke into the village. In a village without any ninja, there was no one who could resist them.

Yuta's mother was forced to activate her Sharingan, and together with Yuta's father, they drove the beasts away.

However, this act planted the seeds of disaster.

Shinobi, like hyenas catching the scent of prey, soon swarmed in, targeting Yuta's mother to seize her Sharingan.

In a brutal battle, Yuta's father eventually sacrificed himself to protect both Yuta and his mother.

Yuta's mother however was also gravely wounded. With the last of her strength, she desperately carried Yuta back to Konoha, begging for them to take him in.

Sarutobi Hiruzen agreed to her request. Though Yuta's parents were rogue ninja, they had not committed any acts that harmed Konoha.

Moreover, Yuta himself carried the blood of both the Uchiha and Senju Clans.

There was also a possibility that he might even awaken a Kekkei Genkai in the future. They could not allow such a child to be left outside the village.

Thus, Yuta remained in Konoha.

Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered that Yuta be brought to the Uchiha Clan to see if they would acknowledge him and take him in as one of their own.

But the Uchiha Clan naturally refused to recognize Yuta as a member of their clan.

In the end, Konoha arranged a dilapidated house for Yuta and then left him completely unattended.

Yuta did not really care about this.

He understood clearly the enmity between the Uchiha and Senju Clans. With Senju blood flowing through his veins, it was natural that the Uchiha Clan would not accept him.

But back then, Yuta did not know that his parents were classified as rogue ninja by Konoha. He naively thought that everything would get better once he arrived in the village.

Yuta had believed that as long as he was not a Jinchūriki, the villagers of Konoha would be relatively kind, at least not hostile.

He wanted to live a new, peaceful life, but his hopes were utterly shattered.

Because nearly all the villagers hated him.

Later, Yuta finally understood why the people of Konoha hated him so much.

First, because his parents were rogue ninja.

Second, because of the Uchiha Clan, or more precisely; because of the Konoha Military Police Force controlled by the Uchiha Clan.

At this point in time, the Uchiha Clan's influence and prestige within Konoha had reached their peak, thanks to their control over the Military Police Force.

The primary duty of the Konoha Military Police Force was to maintain internal security and stability within the Hidden Leaf Village.

They were responsible for establishing village regulations, strengthening and maintaining order, and arresting those with criminal tendencies.

The Uchiha Clan, drunk on their power, would arrest anyone who so much as spoke ill of them under the pretext of "having criminal tendencies."

This led to extreme resentment toward the Uchiha Clan among the villagers.

However, the Uchiha Clan was the largest and most powerful clan in Konoha. No one ever dared to provoke them.

Thus, the villagers' resentment was shifted onto Yuta, onto the child with half-Uchiha blood who did not even have a surname.

Yuta was not like Naruto Uzumaki; he did not possess Naruto's extraordinary kindness.

After five years of living in such an environment, even the most optimistic person would have had their spirit broken.

Yuta truly could not understand how Naruto, growing up under such circumstances, could still choose to forgive.

The villagers' attitudes were one thing, but even Sarutobi Hiruzen was not as merciful, tolerant, or friendly as Yuta had remembered him to be.

Over the five years that Yuta lived in Konoha, there were multiple occasions when Hiruzen Sarutobi saw him being bullied by villagers.

Yet Hiruzen merely glanced at him coldly and walked away, completely indifferent to his situation.

Gradually, Yuta became certain that Hiruzen's benevolent appearance was just a facade.

Nowadays, Konoha was nothing more than a prison for Yuta.

Yet he could not leave this prison.

Because Konoha would never allow him to leave, and even if he could escape, he lacked the strength to survive.

Though Yuta now viewed Konoha with contempt, he had to admit that Konoha was still the safest place for him.

Yuta had strong confidence that he would one day change his fate.

His confidence did not come from either his Uchiha or his Senju blood.

With only half-blood from each clan, Yuta might never awaken either the Sharingan or the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai in his lifetime.

Yuta's real reliance was a system called "The Witness System."

By witnessing major events, he could accumulate Witness Points.

However, the prerequisite for activating the system in the first place was to collect 100 Witness Points.

In the past five years, Yuta had only accumulated 50 points.

This was thanks to witnessing Namikaze Minato enrolling at the Ninja Academy three years ago, which earned him 50 points.

But no matter how hard he tried, Yuta had been unable to gather the remaining 50 points.

This was entirely due to his awkward position in Konoha, making it impossible for him to come into contact with significant events.

Moreover, it was currently still a time of peace, with the Third Shinobi World War still far in the future. There were no major events from which Yuta could actually earn Witness Points.

However, a new opportunity was about to present itself.

Uzumaki Kushina was about to transfer into Konoha and enroll in the Ninja Academy.

If Yuta could witness Uzumaki Kushina's enrollment, he would likely earn the 50 Witness Points that he needed to finally activate the Witness System.
