Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Girl Who Hid

Everyone feared him.

No one could look at him twice… unless they wanted trouble.

He walked down the hallway like he owned the place—dominant and fearless as always.

Getting to his locker, he grabbed a few books before heading straight to class.

When he got there, his two friends, Xavier and Derek, were already waiting by his seat.

"Hey Jaxon, what's up? We've been waiting for you," Xavier said.

Jaxon walked towards them, his expression cold like usual.

"Hey boys," he said in his deep voice. "Got so drunk last night… the old man was really pissed."

"Dude, take it easy on him," Derek said. "He's just trying to make you fit to be Alpha someday."

"I don't care about any of that," Jaxon replied, dropping into his seat.

Derek smirked. "So… did you go all out with Kayla last night?"

Jaxon scoffed. "She was all over me. I just told her to stop at the usual place."

"You know she really likes you," Xavier added.

"Talk of the devil…" Derek muttered.

They all turned as Kayla walked in with her group of girls behind her.

"Hey boys… hi Jaxon," she said, flipping her hair. "How was last night? Hope you liked it."

The girls behind her giggled, some whispering, others staring like they were watching a show.

Jaxon didn't even look at her properly.

"Nothing happened," he said bluntly.

Kayla froze for a second, clearly embarrassed, but quickly forced a smile.

"You don't have to act shy," she said softly. "Everyone already knows I'll be your Luna when you become Alpha."

Jaxon ignored her completely and looked away.

I walked through the hallway as usual, quiet and unnoticed.

My head was always down… my hair always covering my face.

People looked at me weirdly as I passed. Some whispered. Some stared.

If only they knew…

I reached my locker, picked up my books, and got ready for class.

Then I heard her.

"Nora!"

My only friend since I moved to this town.

She came running down the hallway, waving like she always did.

"Hey bestie, what's up?" she shouted.

"Akalya, wait up!" she called again.

I smiled softly at her.

"You're late again," I said quietly.

"Sorry, I woke up late," she replied, catching her breath.

"I know. As usual," I said.

"Come on, let's go to class."

We walked quickly down the hallway. Any moment from now, we would be late.

Nora always walked fast… but with my hair covering my face, it was hard to keep up.

"Wait—Nora—!" I tried to catch up—

Then it happened.

I crashed into something hard.

A strong chest.

I fell straight to the ground.

My heart dropped.

"I-I'm sorry…" I said quickly, bowing my head immediately.

But I didn't dare look up.

Then—

A hand grabbed my neck.

And I was lifted off the ground.

I couldn't breathe.

I was choking.

"How dare you hit the prince!" a girl snapped.

It was Kayla.

Her grip tightened around my neck.

"You need to be taught a lesson," she said angrily.

I grabbed her hand, trying to free myself, but I was too weak.

Then my hair shifted slightly.

Just for a second.

My face was exposed.

And I saw him.

Jaxon.

The one person I never wanted to meet.

Our eyes met.

For a moment… everything stopped.

Quickly, I turned my face away again and hid behind my hair.

"Stop."

A deep voice cut through the hallway.

Everything froze.

Kayla let go immediately, dropping me to the ground.

I gasped for air, coughing as I tried to breathe again.

JAXON POV

I was already tired of Kayla and her constant drama.

So I decided to step out before class started.

The boys were talking behind me when suddenly—

Something hit my chest.

I looked down.

A girl.

She had bumped into me.

But I couldn't see her face.

Her hair covered everything.

She looked terrified… like she was scared of her own shadow.

She kept bowing and apologizing.

Before I could even speak—

Kayla grabbed her by the neck.

I frowned.

This was getting ridiculous.

The girl struggled… choking… helpless.

Then her hair shifted.

Just slightly.

And I saw her face.

Everything stopped.

She was… beautiful.

Too beautiful.

Those blue eyes… innocent… shaking.

For a second, I didn't even hear anything anymore.

I just stared.

Then I heard myself speak.

"Stop."

A word I had never said for anyone like her before.
