Gwen swung down to the rooftop, gently setting Su Mu on his feet. She looked at him with profound concern.
"What happened to you? Why did you suddenly drop out of the sky like that?"
Utilizing the absolute micro-control of the Six Eyes, Su Mu perfectly adjusted his micro-expressions, heart rate, and muscle tension to execute an Oscar-worthy performance of absolute panic.
"I-I don't know!" Su Mu stammered, his eyes wide. "My mutant powers... they suddenly vanished!"
Hearing the White Demon's "helpless" cry, the Prowler, who had just landed on the rooftop, burst into manic laughter.
"Hahaha! Bet you didn't see that coming! We managed to get our hands on a top-secret, military-grade mutant inhibitor! For at least the next hour, your precious powers are completely locked down!
"For the next sixty minutes, you are absolutely no different from an ordinary human! A single bullet is enough to put you in the ground! And I, the Prowler, will be the one who slaughters the God of Mutants!"
The moment the words left his mouth, the Prowler's suit surged with kinetic energy. He blurred into a purple streak, lunging directly at Su Mu. But Gwen instantly intercepted him, parrying his razor-sharp claws with her reinforced webbing.
Seeing Spider-Woman standing in his way again, the Prowler's eyes narrowed dangerously behind his mask.
"You again. Fine! I'll butcher the Spider and the Demon together!"
The two engaged in a high-speed, acrobatic brawl. For a short time, they were evenly matched. But Gwen knew this stalemate was only temporary. Her spider-sense was blaring. Several more high-threat signatures were rapidly closing in on their position; they had to be Kingpin's heavy hitters.
Su Mu, leaning casually against an air conditioning unit, easily identified the incoming supervillains.
There was Tombstone, a towering mob enforcer with indestructible, high-temperature skin. There was Scorpion, clad in a heavily armored, high-tech green exoskeleton identical in design philosophy to the Prowler's suit. And finally, a woman with four massive, mechanical tentacles welded to her spine—a female Doctor Octopus!
Gwen spotted the incoming trio as well. She delivered a brutal roundhouse kick that sent the Prowler tumbling backward, then quickly webbed him to a nearby chimney. She grabbed Su Mu, wrapping an arm around his waist, and fired a web line, swinging them desperately into the cityscape to escape.
"How long until your powers come back?!" Gwen shouted over the rushing wind.
She was trying her hardest to lose the supervillains, but the streets below were swarming with syndicate thugs who continuously laid down suppressive fire, forcing her into evasive maneuvers that prevented her from gaining any real distance. In fact, the supervillains were actively closing the gap!
Hearing Gwen's frantic question, Su Mu offered a deeply unserious, lazy smile.
"Who knows? Could take a while. Or, you know, they could come back at the exact next second!"
Hearing his incredibly unbothered, frivolous tone, Gwen felt a sudden, massive urge to just drop the arrogant white-haired boy into the East River. But remembering that the White Demon had saved her life during their first encounter, the inherently kind-hearted Gwen couldn't bring herself to do it.
"Can you please take this seriously?!" Gwen snapped, frustrated. "If they catch us, you are literally going to die!"
Su Mu blinked innocently. "I am taking it seriously. I'm stating facts."
The military's inhibitor device was designed specifically to suppress the X-Gene. The only ability Su Mu possessed that the device vaguely registered was his Energy Absorption. All his other powers—the Limitless, Blue, Red, the Reverse Cursed Technique, and the Six Eyes—were entirely unaffected. He could use them whenever he wanted.
Furthermore, even his suppressed Energy Absorption was rapidly adapting and recovering. In about five minutes, it would be fully operational again—nowhere near the hour the Prowler had gloated about.
So, telling Gwen his powers could return "at the exact next second" was completely accurate. He could turn them on whenever he felt like it.
Naturally, the kind-hearted Gwen had no idea she was being played by the diabolical white-haired demon. She didn't have any spare energy to argue with him anyway, because the supervillains had fully caught up.
SNIKT!
With the help of his arriving teammates, the Prowler had easily sliced through the webbing holding him to the chimney. Being the fastest of the group, he intercepted Gwen mid-swing and threw a razor-sharp vibranium dagger.
The dagger severed Gwen's web line.
Losing their momentum, Gwen and Su Mu tumbled out of the sky, landing heavily on the roof of an abandoned warehouse. In seconds, they were entirely surrounded by Kingpin's elite supervillains.
Staring at the overwhelming odds, Gwen felt a mountain of pressure crushing her shoulders. Still, she tried to remain optimistic.
"Well... this is bad. I'm officially out of ideas..."
Held protectively behind her, Su Mu offered an encouraging smile.
"Believe in yourself! You can do this! And if you really can't... well, you still have me!"
Before Gwen could process his bizarre confidence, the Prowler sneered.
"White Demon. You can't even protect yourself right now, let alone anyone else. Today, you die like a dog!"
Scorpion, his heavy mechanical tail swishing menacingly behind him, glared at Su Mu with utter contempt.
"So this is the legendary White Demon? What a joke! Time to squash the Spider and the Demon together!"
Scorpion's mechanical legs hissed with hydraulic pressure as he lunged forward. His massive, venom-tipped tail whipped toward Gwen, intending to impale both her and Su Mu in a single strike!
Gwen barely managed to contort her body to dodge the lethal stinger, only to be instantly blindsided by one of Doctor Octopus's massive titanium tentacles.
The brutal impact sent Gwen flying across the rooftop. Su Mu was violently separated from her, skidding across the gravel.
Using the physical agility of an ordinary human, Su Mu gracefully rolled to his feet. Ignoring the supervillains entirely, he looked up at the night sky.
Through the absolute vision of the Six Eyes, he clearly saw a heavily armored helicopter hovering perfectly stationary exactly ten kilometers away.
At that extreme distance, even the Level 3 Six Eyes could only perceive a vague silhouette. If it weren't for his hyper-honed intuition telling him he was being watched, he never would have noticed it.
Su Mu frowned in annoyance. That helicopter had been hovering there for quite a while now. It was becoming increasingly obvious that it had absolutely no intention of getting any closer...
Meanwhile, Gwen was being ruthlessly overwhelmed by the combined assault of Tombstone, Scorpion, and Doc Ock. She was completely pinned down, entirely unable to protect Su Mu.
The Prowler casually strolled over to where Su Mu was standing. He brandished his vibranium claws, his voice dripping with sadistic glee.
"The invincible White Demon dies here. I can already see the headlines for tomorrow's front page!"
Seeing that Su Mu still wasn't even looking at him—instead staring blankly at the sky—the Prowler felt a surge of absolute, murderous fury.
"Still arrogant?! Good. I want to hear you scream!"
The Prowler charged.
But before he could reach Su Mu, Gwen desperately broke away from her attackers and threw herself in front of the White Demon, panting heavily.
"You aren't touching him!"
Looking at Gwen's battered, bruised form, the Prowler laughed cruelly.
"Fine. Then you'll both die right now!"
The kinetic dampeners on the Prowler's boots flared brilliant purple. He accelerated to blinding speeds, launching himself directly at the pair.
Gwen tried to grab Su Mu and dodge, but the internal trauma from Doc Ock's tentacle strike flared up, causing her body to freeze for a fraction of a second.
That microsecond was all the Prowler needed. He closed the distance instantly, driving his razor-sharp vibranium claws straight toward Gwen's stomach.
"DIE!"
The claws were inches away. Even with her superhuman reflexes, Gwen knew dodging was physically impossible.
She watched in despair as the lethal blades closed in, fully expecting them to pierce her abdomen and skewer the White Demon standing behind her...
But suddenly, Gwen's vision blurred.
In a fraction of a millisecond, the tall, slender figure of the White Demon casually stepped in front of her.
Then, a deeply impatient, magnetic voice echoed across the rooftop.
"It seems that helicopter isn't going to get any closer... How boring. What a complete waste of my time."
Under Gwen's absolute, reality-shattering shock, the white-haired man casually raised his hand.
The Prowler's supersonic charge came to an instant, dead halt right in front of Su Mu's palm.
With a lethargic, entirely dismissive flick of his wrist, the White Demon unleashed a terrifying wave of absolute repulsion.
Everything in front of him—the concrete, the air itself, and the Prowler—was violently obliterated by an incomprehensible cosmic force.
Gwen stood entirely frozen, staring blankly at the massive, fan-shaped crater of absolute devastation that had instantly replaced half the rooftop. The Prowler had been instantly crushed into a microscopic red mist.
She gulped hard, her mind completely blank, as she listened to the god-like man mutter to himself.
"Tsk, tsk. It looks like Kingpin and that helicopter are starting to run away. That won't do. I suppose I'll just have to speed up the trash collection."
