Chapter 1 - THE ORIGINAL PARADOXA Dimensional Hopper's Guide to New Orleans

Prologue: The End and The Beginning

The multiverse ended with a whisper, not a bang.

I watched it happen from outside existence—the final collapse of reality number 12,847, the one where humanity had actually achieved enlightenment before something ate their sun. Beautiful while it lasted. Now it was nothing but cosmic static, fading into the void between dimensions.

"Your record is impressive."

I turned. The voice came from everywhere and nowhere, belonging to something that existed in the spaces between worlds.

"I know."

"Most dimensional hoppers barely survive a dozen realities. You've navigated nearly thirteen thousand. Conquered empires. Toppled gods. Collected power that would drive lesser beings mad." The voice paused. "And now you're bored."

"Astute observation."

"You want something new. Something... challenging."

I considered this. Thirteen thousand realities. I'd been a vampire in some, a god in others, a simple merchant in a few just to see if I could. I'd loved. Killed. Created. Destroyed. Built civilizations and watched them crumble.

What was left?

"The Originals," I said finally.

The voice—the entity that governed dimensional travel—seemed to hesitate. "The television show? That's... a significant step down from cosmic empires."

"Not the show. The reality it's based on. Original vampires, werewolves, witches. Magic systems with actual rules. Ancestral dimensions. The Other Side." I smiled. "I want to see how their power structures hold up against someone who's been playing this game longer than they've existed."

"You'll destroy their entire reality within a week."

"Probably." My smile widened. "But it'll be entertaining."

The entity considered this. Around us, reality number 12,848 flickered into existence—some generic universe where humanity was just discovering fire. Boring.

"Very well. But I'm imposing limits."

"Of course you are."

"Your power will be bound to their dimensional rules. You'll enter as a hybrid—vampire-werewolf baseline. Your accumulated abilities will manifest as a System, scaled to their reality's tolerance." A pause. "You'll still be overwhelmingly powerful by their standards. But not omnipotent. Not at first."

"And if I want to break those limits?"

"Then you'll have to earn it. Evolve. Grow." The voice almost sounded amused. "After thirteen thousand realities, I thought you might appreciate a challenge."

Fair point.

"Agreed. Send me in."

"Destination: New Orleans, Louisiana. Timeline: Approximately six months before Klaus Mikaelson's arrival. Body: Customized to your specifications." The entity paused. "Any final requests?"

"Make it interesting."

"You'll regret saying that."

The void swallowed me whole.
