Chapter 23 - Uzumaki Massacre

The sound of waves crashing against the hull and the loud patting of rain pelting against the deck, rang through the boat. As the 3 of them sat under the deck resting while the storm shook the boat.

If someone was to look at the deck of the boat they would see a group of identical people sterling and charting the boat. Just then one of those identical figures disappeared in a puff of smoke and the only man under the deck awoke.

Roku looked around at the sleeping forms of everyone before beginning to wake them.

He softly shook the two, "Were almost their come on, get up"

The two slowly got up and stretched, then Pakura spoke up. "You really couldn't have gotten a better boat? This one is tiny."

He flicked her forehead, "Sure just if you gave up half of the cost I would have. I mean your Pakura of the Scorch Release, Fear around the nations! You couldn't possibly not have money for a single boat rental?"

She blushed before looking to the side, "I mean most of my money was at the sand so i didn't have much".

He smiled and continued to tease her, "But I mean that was a while ago. You surely have been able to gather more money"

She glared at him, "Maybe you should pay me, you cheap stake!"

He smiled much harder and nodded, "Sure but if you want a salary you would lose your benefits"

She hesitated, "Benefits?"

Roku nodded as if it was obvious, "Of course like your room and board wouldn't still be free, and you would now have to earn clan merit to access training manual like a normal ninja. No more of having complete access to my library and training tools"

Pakura blanched, she lived at Roku's mansion and her room and board was more than she could afford. Even if it was just one room, renting a place with a similar garden, kitchen and all the amenities would cost more than she made when she worked for the Sand."

Not to mention the unfettered access to the complete Uchiha clan library. With the Uchiha's copying ability and their long heritage the Uchiha had collected a library of almost every Jutsu in existence and the optimal practice methods for them.

She shook her head franticly, "No i think I'm good"

Kaho laughed at the two of them before turning to Roku, "When will we land?"

Her questions were cut off by the sound of the boat hitting the shore. Roku looked at her and laughed, he then opened the hatch and helped her and Karin up. He then looked at Pakura and rushed up before closing the hatch on her face.

Pakura growled before banging it open and running after him. As she reached two she stopped and looked on in surprise. Kaho was crying.

The western shore of the Uzumaki clan was close enough to Uzushiogakure that one could see the ruins. The area around the walls was covered in the stinking corpses and blood of the fallen.

The sight would have put a sickly feeling into the stomach of even the most battle worn ninja. Even Roku and Pakura had never seen this much carnage.

As Roku looked around he sigh, "The Uzumaki really were something"

Pakura nodded in shock, for every corpse with the mark of an Uzumaki there were at least 3 enemy ninjas. She then turned to see Kaho had begun to sniffle and stop crying.

Pakura then talked to Roku, "How could such a strong clan die out?"

Roku sighed before explaining, "The Cloud and Mist went all out, their force had 2 Kage level fighters and even all four Jincuriki, and not to mention the ton of semi kage and elite jonin they were just too out number"

Pakura gasped in shock again, "That equates to 6 kage level fighters plus all the semi kage ones… That would a force capable of defeating even one of the 5 great nations"

Roku nodded solemnly, "But even then the Uzumaki were strong enough to nearly cripple the two villages' armies. Leading to them being unable to join the second war"

Pakura realized and began to think, if the Uzumaki were the reason that the cloud and mist didn't compete in the 2nd war then that would mean that their strength even rivaled one of the great nations.

She asked her questions, "If they could do that, how strong were the Uzumaki?"

Roku thought before explaining, "While they only had about 2 kage level fighters and a couple semi kage. But a single kage level Uzumaki could defeat 2 Jincuriki in a fight. But they weren't able to fight anyone else after sealing the Jincuriki. So they were killed by the sure number of enemies"

Kaho had stayed silent listening in on their conversation, her grandfather was a kage level fighter in his prime but age had limited his strength to semi kage. That was the main problem within the Uzumaki, their age.

The 3 Great clans had lost a lot of new blood during the first war, but unlike the uchiha that loss didn't allow others to unlock their kekkei genkai. So it just weakened the next generation, leading to the clan head's son being the only new kage level and all the elders just became weaker.

If the attack had taken place during the first war when the Uzumaki were in their prime then they definitely would have forced the enemies to retreat.

But as she was looking over the carnage and compiling herself she turned to Roku. As Roku noticed her look of fragileness he hugged her and comforted her, "Take all the time you need"

She nodded before handing Karin to Roku, beginning to walk through the battle field and gathering all the uzumaki corpses.

Pakura wanted to stop her, she was worried that the corpse could have some disease. But then Roku grabbed her and shook his head and handed her Karin, "I'll help her and make sure she stays clean"

She nodded before heading back to the group of shadow clones anchoring the boat.
