"I still can't figure it out."
"Why I transmigrated to an era without smartphones or computers."
"You have to understand, as someone from the 21st century, having no phone is basically a death sentence."
"But luckily, there's one upside to this world."
"It's a world where Devils and humans coexist. Devils pop up in the human world from time to time, and the human world has Devil Hunters to fight them. As long as you have the strength, you can satisfy any desire of a human or a Devil."
Thinking about this.
The teenager lying on the wooden boards grinned.
He seemed to have a goal in mind.
His name was Arata.
A transmigrator who crossed over from the 21st century to the 19th century.
After transmigrating, he signed a permanent contract with the Dream Devil, Freddy.
From then on, he became a Fiend who could use the Dream Devil's power at will.
Being new here with no friends or family, and no skills to fall back on.
He could only become a Private Devil Hunter.
Relying on hunting Devils to earn commissions just to fill his stomach.
But he accidentally heard about a little boy nearby named Denji.
Who was also a Devil Hunter.
So he made a special trip to the small wooden shack where Denji lived to wait for him.
After a short while, outside the shack.
A blonde-haired teenager who, at 16, was already missing a nut, his right eye, and only had one kidney, strode over.
In his arms, he was holding a dog with a saw blade sticking out of its head.
The dog was orange.
Its body shape was almost oval.
Its tail was a chainsaw pull cord.
If you ignored its facial features and limbs, it was completely a chibi chainsaw.
Hanging from the dog's body was a bag of wheat bread.
Even though it looked fierce, the way it looked at Denji was incredibly gentle.
"The money we made from logging today will let us eat bread for a whole week."
"Pochita, thanks to you."
"I definitely couldn't have done it on my own."
The two of them pushed open the shack door, talking and laughing.
But the next second, Denji's expression froze.
He stood stunned in place.
"You're back."
Arata took the initiative to speak while stretching lazily.
After speaking, he even let out a yawn.
"You..."
"Don't just stand there, hurry up and come sit down."
Arata's eyes intentionally glanced at the sliced bread hanging off Pochita.
And Pochita, being a Devil, was extremely sensitive.
He immediately noticed Arata's gaze.
And let out a low growl at him.
"Grrr..."
"Who are you? How did you get in here?"
"Don't worry about that, I've been waiting for you for a long time. Hurry up and sit down so we can happily eat a slice of bread together."
"Eat bread?!"
"Hey, who the hell are you? If you're from the yakuza here to collect a debt, I'm already working with your boss. I'll help you guys kill Devils to pay off the debt, so don't come to my house and mess with our lives."
Denji said, annoyed.
Let alone trying to get any ideas about his bread.
"Don't get mad."
"I'm not the yakuza. I'm just a Private Devil Hunter passing through."
Arata patted his ass and stood up.
Walking enthusiastically toward Denji.
Just a single smile made Denji drop his guard.
"You're a Devil Hunter too?" Denji looked him up and down.
"Too? Don't tell me you are too?"
"That's right, we're Devil Hunters too."
"Then I guess we're in the same line of work."
Arata enthusiastically patted Denji on the shoulder.
One second Arata was greeting him with a smile.
The next second, his expression drastically changed.
He snatched the bread hanging off Pochita's body in one swift motion.
Denji and Pochita were shocked.
But before they could even react, Arata kicked both man and dog right out the door.
Denji was dazed when he hit the ground.
But he quickly got up and entered a combat stance.
"Pochita." he called out.
Vrrrr....
