Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Zabrin."

Crash

Bang

Three girls towered over a girl who is sprawled on the ground with different injuries adorning her body.

"You know you're the class loser and always would be so why would you try to raise your status?" The girl standing in the middle among the three girls crouched down and gave a resounding slap to the girl on the floor.

"Why would you try to talk to him?" Another slap landed on the girl's cheek.

"You know he's way out of your league so why? Why? Why!" The hysteric shouts of the girl startled her friends and with one swift motion of he hand, the two girls stepped forward and began to batter the girl on the floor.

The sounds of beating only stopped when the three girls felt satisfied with what they had done. Looking at the bloodied face and limp body of the girl they had beaten the three girls shared smiles of satisfaction before they left the girl laying weak on the floor with tears streaming down her face.

Ten years later~~~

In an almost thrown apart music shop, a girl wearing a black cap and shades caressed the only instrument left in the old music shop.

Sitting on the chair in front of the piano, the girl looked equally as abandoned as the piano but the two unknowingly made a good complement.

With one strike of the keys of the piano, the shop was filled with the sound produced by the girls hands and slowly, she began to strike notes after notes unaware of the fact the people on the outside of the shop could hear the music she was playing.

The sounds of the notes the girl was playing quickly captivated people not only because of the amazing sound produced but also because of how oblivious and carefree the girl was to the outside world.

The new crowd watched as the girl closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before their ears were filled with a very sweet melody.

'When you try your best but you don't succeed…

When you get what you want but not what you need…'

Singing to accompany the tune she was playing, the girl remained focused on the song she was singing pouring in all her emotions from the life she had lived for the past ninteen years.

Memories of the bullying she faced right from childhood until she reached college when she was able to escape the clutches of her nightmare, the little to no memory of her parents, her life in the orphanage and the treatment of her adoptive parents played in the girl's head and unconsciously, tears slipped out of her eyes.

The crowd was left awestruck by how raw and heartfelt the girl's actions were and little by little, people forgot what they had planned and just stood watching the girl perform.

'Tears streaming down your face when you lose something you cannot replace.

Tears streaming down your face and I…..

Tears streaming down your face I promise you I will learn from my mistakes.

Tears streaming down your face and I...'

The swift high notes the girl hit left the crowd stunned and impressed, people were already videoing the performance and goshing over the skills displayed by the girl singing.

There were many who even wanted to make donations unfortunately, they soon realised that the supposed performance was something done by a girl oblivious to the impact she was going to and is making.

'Lights will guide….you home

And ignite...your bones

And I will try…..to fix you.'

The closing of the song came and after the girl finished her last line of the lyrics, she added an extra minute of piano solo infusing some new unheard notes to the song making a very wonderful cover before she finally hit the last key of the piano.

She was sitting with her back to the crowd so after getting her emotions together, the girl stood up from the chair and turned to leave the music shop only to the halted by the loud claps and cheers from the crowd outside the music shop.

The girl who had just finished communicating her feelings into music stepped out of the music shop stunned by the amount of people that were cheering for her and with one swift "Thank you everyone", the girl sprinted away from the crowd leaving the crowd too shocked to react and by the time they did, the girl had long been gone.

Videos of the nostalgic performance of the girl began to trend online with so many likes from people. The only problem was the fact that not once did the face of the girl ever show. Even those that were privileged to watch live only got a glimpse of her face but still her eyes were covered with shades and she wore a cap.

It had been over a week since the discrete debut of the faceless majestic singer and still there was no information about the singer. Little by little, the curiosity of the world began to wane.

Just like every other day, Zabrin woke up in her small dark room on her barely holding on bed. The pretty girl looked out of place in that environment.

Getting herself up and doing her chores, Zabrin got ready for school. Her dilapidated house was all she had after her parents went missing along with her little brother. It had been over twelve years since she'd been living alone.

Few minutes after having a slice of bread and tea, Zabrin made her way out of her house with an inconspicuous white mask on her face and her hair buried in a cap.

Avoiding every eye contact, Zabrin hurried into her lecture hall without looking back. She then looked for a rather hidden corner at the back of the class and made her way there.

The nineteen year old girl had always had problems in making friends. She had a slight phobia for contact so she never reached out to people. Traumas from her younger years still haunted her.

"Good morning class, today were are learning….."

Several hours later, Zabrin walked out of her school building exhausted yet she still made her way to the public library. As she sat on one of the chairs in the library, Zabrin's mind drifted to her life as she stared at her silent phone that still looked good as new. It was the only possession that she had that still looked pretty decent afterall, she had no one calling and no one to call.

On getting back home, Zabrin freshened up and then changed into an all black outfit then she wore a signature beautiful black mask on her face before leaving her house.

She made her way to an amusement park and casually sat on a bench just admiring the children playing with their parents.

Removing the guitar strapped on her back and zoning out every human around her, Zabrin hit some notes on her purple guitar. She had saved so much to get the guitar in a colour she valued greatly.

'I'm falling with the daylight, covered in red

Wonder who would find me, when I'm covered in shame'

Zabrin started in a clean and clear voice without caring about every passer-by.

'My wings made of envy solve every problem with glory

But now I see everything falling….apart so fast'

At this time, so people had started to gather due to the sweet melody and warm lyrics of the song.

'Chasing every moonlight, when I'm covered in pain

We know it's just a shadow, a blanket of flame

But wings made of envy, covered the sun and just melted

Now I see everything falling….apart so fast.....'
