Chapter 1 - Prologue

Hero's Fate, a dark fantasy game sought by many people worldwide known for it's challenging gameplay.

The game is known for its realism and its ability to turn any normal situation into a sudden dire crisis.

[LOL streamer how long are you gonna keep playing that deadbeat game?]

"How long, you ask?"

[Yeah that game sucks! It's been 3 years now and you still keep playing that game.]

[It's time to move on streamer, that game is no longer popular.]

[Its charm has long died, you should listen to us streamer.]

"No way, I'm not gonna quit this game until I see the end!"

This was me Tae Seung, a 24 year old orphan with nothing in life except streaming.

All I knew about was streaming and nothing else.

What do I even contribute to society?

Anyways, I continued playing the game despite my viewers discouraging me.

This game had a special place to me, it's unrealistic difficulty was in a way relatable to me in real life.

The game "Hero's Fate" is like its name as suggested, you become a hero that defeats the demon king. In a way it's a cliche plot.

But what makes it different is you're forced to fight the aftermath. Yes, the aftermath.

It's not like any other games where you start off easier and the difficulty gradually gets harder.

Your starting point is based on luck, but luck is an unreliable measure to know.

You either die off as soon as you start or become lucky that you don't die.

That's how my first playthrough went, but after countless trials, I finally managed to reached the middle game.

Now here I am gazing into my pc, as adrenaline coursed throughout my body.

I couldn't wait anymore.

「Hero, it's finally time to start the battle…」

「Please give us the command when you're ready, Hero」

Countless soldiers lined up at the battlefield, their banners rising up symbolizing the hope of humanity.

While on the other side stood the numerous large demons and demonoids alike.

My character the "Hero" stood on the center of the battlefield, it's crest on it's sword glowed slightly yellow.

It was time for the land reclamation, to make the planet ours once again.

Behind my character, four figures stand side by side, their eyes focused on the battlefield.

They were also the ones who asked for my order. One of them was Alexia, the omniscient mage.

She was in charge of the spells thrown in the battlefield.

"Hahaha, despite my 3 years of effort, I only managed to reach the middle game?"

I laughed bitterly, as if easing my self.

But it's too late to make a change now, it's now or never.

I fired up myself anticipating the enemies next move.

I glanced up at my monitor.

「Start the war Y / N」

This option would start the beginning of the largest war inside the game.

[Wow streamer, I haven't seen this scene of the game]

Of course you never did, I was one of the people who stayed to this game when it died down.

I glanced at the monitor one more time.

I clicked "Yes".

Before everyone inside the game moved to fight up, the hero announced his speech.

「Everyone! It's all thanks to you that we have come this far!」

「From the pain we had suffered from them…! From thinking we had no hope of living...!

「All of that…! Ends as of today!!!」

「As I say this, everyone charge!!!」

The hero charged first, his huge sword thrusting forward.

The sword glowed brightly unleashing a huge mana that swept up the demons.

Behind were his allies, charging up in front of the battlefield.

Alexia stood by behind the frontlines accompanied by various robed mages lined up in a formation.

Her spells covered the entire line of the frontlines spraying support buffs for the soldiers.

While the mages fired up together a simulatenous attack of offensive spells.

On the left side of the battle, a man who was huge and tall as a boulder dashed relentlessly towards the demons.

This man was none other than the Fist King Emyr. His attacks swung anywhere like a beast.

On the right side of the frontline, a man was fast and swift like a wind, his attacks seemed to come out of nowhere.

This man was the epitome of all assasins, he was the Grim Reaper Ashen.

And the last of all, was the healer behind and far from the frontline.

Whose healing capabalities could name her the Saintess of Miracles from the people.

She was the Blind Saintess Olivia, a woman that tended to the wounded soldiers during the battle.

Having these 4 people really changed how I played the game, if it weren't for them, I could have never even come across to this point.

[Wow that's so cool.]

[Show me more footage streamer!]

[Cassiopeias Software Co.Ltd has donated 1,500,000.00 won!]

[What the?]

[The actual developers? Why are they here?]

"What? Is this true?"

The livestream chat suddenly erupted in chaos. While I scrambled myself to see if this was real.

[Check your private dms.]

A notification rang out and I tended to the message that was sent.

—Sender: Cassiopeias Software Co.Ltd

—Please save our world hero, there's no much time left.

—「Yes / No」

"Is this actually real? For that much money they sent, the message they sent looks some kind of prank"

[LOLOLOLOLOL]

[KEKEKEKEKE just accept the money my guy!]

"It wouldn't hurt to click yes right?"

[Of course, don't doubt us bro]

Honestly for this much money, I don't have anything I'd lose on.

—「Yes / No」

—「Yes」

I clicked yes.

"Huh…?"

A glowing light slowly enveloped my pc. Noticing this, I hurriedly plugged off the pc.

BOOM!

Suddenly, my pc exploded and all kinds of debris flew to me.

"What the fuck!?"

"Fuck… FUCK IT HURTS LIKE FUCKING HELL"

I screamed so loud my voice echoed inside the apartment.

My body was covered in blood and some of them kept dripping slowly.

Knock Knock Knock…

Even my apartment neighbors came knocking. How ironic, how would they see me if I was in this condition?

"Oi, Oppa can you quite down?"

"Oppa?"

BANG!

The door opened.

"Oppa?"

"Oppa…!? Ahh!"

"119! Yes... Oppa here is bleeding! We need help!"

"The location is…"

A woman came to me, her eyes look terrified.

What is this feeling…?

As if everything suddenly just went wrong.

Regrets… They came out flooding now that I was in this state…

I had once thought they were pointless.

I regret my life, my way of living, my way of trying to cope with reality…

I regret everything I've done in life.

My eyelids suddenly felt heavy, as if someone put a boulder on both of them.

Even the strength that I had quietly diminished.

Everything inside my body slowly lost its energy.

I never felt this much empty… Like a soulless body.

I guess this is a goodbye to me.

"Is…"

"This…"

"…Death?"
