Chapter 35 - Farewell

[Music Recommendation "I will remember you" by Sarah mclachlan]

~The D-Day~

It was finally the day for Serena to enter a new phase of her life. Serena woke up bright and early, she felt positive as she got ready to leave with Mr. Won for the vampire kingdom.

Before she could even finish dressing up, she saw a black car drive up and stop at her house. She saw the car through her room window.

'He came early.' Serena said to herself.

She quickly dressed up and went downstairs to say her goodbyes to her family, well it was going to be a long day. She muttered in her head.

Serena went to the sitting room to find her grandparents already standing by the door, she could hear a few sniffs from her grandmother's direction and saw that her grandfather was patting her back gently, he too had his hands to his face, wiping at his eyes with a kerchief.

Serena didn't pack much, as Eiravyn had told her to only pack things that was carry able and not to bother packing all her clothes, saying the things she'd need will all be provided for her in his kingdom through a text she got from him the day before.

So, Serena only brought a small, comfortable bag, containing two changes of clothes and her toothbrush, with comfortable pants that was suitable for long trip.

Since she was not sure how long the journey to his kingdom will take, she decided to bring her hair brush and a mirror.

When she got down her grandmother turned to her with teary eyes,

"Oh my sugarplum, I can't believe this is really happening." She wailed, "I'm going to miss you my angel."

Serena rushed to her grandma's side and hugged her tight, she too was crying bitterly.

"Grandmama, I'm going to miss you more." Serena said as she turned to her grandfather with tears in her eyes,

She knew he was trying to control himself, but she knew he would fail miserably in doing so as the next moment. Serena heard a low painful groan leave her grandpa lips.

"Ah, little bit come here." Her grandfather said, signaling her to come to him.

Serena went to him, her step quiet as her grandpa took her in his arms and embraced her tightly, he whispered in her ear,

"If you ever feel uncomfortable in the slightest bit, don't hesitate to call us, we would come get you." Her grandfather whispered, which brought more tears to Serena eyes. This were the people that had ensured her safety and been there for her when her parents died, she was so grateful to them and the love they impacted on her.

Serena nodded with a smile on her face and her eyes filled with tears.

After a long hugging and coaxing, the family of three eventually parted. And Serena went outside with her grandparents trailing behind her.

Serena was surprised that Eiravyn could afford this level of patient, because he had been standing beside his car ever since he got here.

Serena walked to his side and stood close to him, her grandfather turned to face Eiravyn,

"As we have handed over our precious granddaughter to you, all we ask of you is that you treat her with respect, cherish her and always put her first. The way we have been doing all this years." The man said, and stretched his hands to Eiravyn in a form of handshake as if the handshake is a silent seal and vow to his words.

Eiravyn reached out and accepted the handshake, sealing the deal permanently.

"Be rest assured that your granddaughter is in safe hands." He said,

Serena turned to look at Eiravyn's face, surprise to see him respect someone at the same time she felt glad that he treated her grandparents with respect, she gazed up at him with a renew look of respect.

Her grandfather nodded quietly to his word, as he felt that this man's words should not be taken for granted, and he felt he could trust him.

When Eiravyn saw that Serena was done with her goodbyes and farewells, he held her hands and pulled open his car door for her.

Caspian watched all this from the driver's seat with shock evident in his eyes, this was the very first time he saw his king acting like a gentleman, Eiravyn is not a gentleman, Never was, and never will be… at least that's what Caspian thought until now.

Eiravyn and Serena sat in the back seat of the car and Eiravyn told Caspian to drive the car.

When Caspian start the car, Serena turned back to wave at her grandparents as they waved back at her, she saw her grandfather whispering something to her grandmother but Serena could not make out what was said as she saw her grandmother finally clean her eyes just to smiled boldly at her,

"We will see you on the day of the wedding, remember what we have always thought you." Her grandmother said to her,

Serena nodded her head amid her tears, as she wave to them until she was not able to see them, that was when she sat up properly.

She could not bring herself to look at Eiravyn as she thought her face was probably a mess by now from all the crying.

So, she turned to look outside of the car window with tiny sniffles coming from her lips.

Eiravyn reached for a wet tissue and gave it to her which she accepted and said a soft thank you, as she turned to her side to blow and clean her nose.
