"Since I have been trying to make you see reason but it's not working, you leave me with no choice. Kathy, I have to tell you something but please promise me that you will keep it between you and me, the thing I'm about to tell you only I and my grandparents know of it and I hope it stays that way." Serena said hesitantly with her eyes fixed on the carpeted floor instead of meeting Kathy's eyes.
Kathy creased her brows, "hmm… I promise, what is it?"
What she was about to say Serena was not sure she was supposed to say it as she had not had a proper discussion with Eiravyn whether it was safe to expose something like that — but in the end, Serena decided to spill it as she was sure that Kathy would carry the secret to her grave, Kathy may be loud and impestous but she is a good person.
Serena finally opened her mouth,
"Mr. Won is a vampire king and he claimed that I am his mate." Serena said the line in one breath as she held her breath hoping on all hopes that Kathy would not freak out.
There was a long pause as it seemed like the whole room has frozen in place.
"Oh My God!" Kathy yelled as she went speechless, staring at Serena like she had grown two heads but when she saw that her beloved friend was dead serious from her face and the sound of her voice. Kathy went still,
"Kathy wait, I know it's outrageous. But please listen to me…" Serena words was cut short when Kathy yelled again.
"WHOA! Oh mi god, Renie, that's awesome…" Kathy exclaimed, Serena stared at her with obvious disbelief written all over her face.
"Is it?" Serena asked confused,
"Yes Renie, why did you not tell me this from the beginning, you know how much I fantasize about having my own mate and all, although I prefer Werewolves but this one too is cool. Oh Renie, you hit the jackpot." Kathy could not control herself as she felt a sudden rush of adrenaline.
"So… do you approve now?" Serena still wanted to be sure, because this was the same person who opposed strongly to the marriage just a few minutes ago.
"Of course girl, and beside what I'm I in the presence of a great vampire king, but wait…" Kathy paused before she turned to look at Serena seriously,
"If you were his mate all along why did he reject you all this while?" Kathy was so curious, her ears stood on ends to know the answer.
"That, I do not know, we hardly spoke since then."
"Either way Renie, make sure you punish him for putting you through those sleepless night, hehehe."
Kathy that looked so serious just seconds ago had turned back to her playful self, "so… that man with him at the art event is he also a vampire?" Kathy asked as she bit her lips sexily and winked at Serena.
Serena could only shake her head before replying to her naughty and overstimulated friend, "I believe so."
"Then that's great, omg I can't believe my best friend will become the queen of a vampire kingdom. Omg, that's crazy. I hope you will not forget about me then." Kathy said pouting.
"How can I ever forget my darling friend and beside you are always welcome to visit." Serena told her as she rolled her eyes, she knows Kathy was just doing this because she wanted assurance that she can come to the place.
"Really?!" Kathy asked her eyes wide like saucers, "I feel so many things right now Renie, but I feel happiness the most, if he is like those mated vampire kings in the books I read, your life will be beautiful Renie, I'm so happy for you."
Serena nodded, finally her friend was in on all of this she could not be happier.
"So? When is the wedding with your darling Mr. Won?"
"I'll be going to the vampire kingdom first thing tomorrow morning as the wedding will be held there."
Kathy almost choked on her saliva. "Renie!" She wailed,
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry okay, that I am only just telling you this now but I've been trying to reach you since yesterday but you were not picking your calls."
Kathy was speechless,
"But you and my grandparents will come when I am fully settled there, as you guys are most definitely invited." Serena informed.
After a long pause, Serena finally asked Kathy the questions that had been bugging her mind all this time.
"Kathy will you be my maid of honor?"
"Duh… do you have any other person in mind." Kathy said with a eye roll,
"Of course girl, you don't even have to ask that, only I can be your maid of honor."
"Then, that's settled." Serena said, letting out the breath she did not know she had been holding, it felt like a huge burden had been lifted off her shoulders, she finally felt light.
Kathy could only bit her lower lips, no one ever made her this emotional, as it finally drawn on her that she would not be seeing her dear friend for a long period of time until the day of her wedding.
"Fine, I'm sure your family already approved, there is not much I can do, but I'm gonna miss you…"
Kathy was almost on the verge of tears, "why is everyone crying? Please don't cry i had a long time getting my grandparents to stop crying, I'm not about to go through the same with you, stop acting like you will never see me again." Serena had enough with the tears but she still hugged her best friend.
After a long hugging and coaxing session, the two girls finally parted. When Kathy finally calmed down, it was then she remembered something.
"What about Abigail?" Kathy know how much the little girl means to her, she wanted to know if she already told the girl.
"I'll be going to the orphanage once I'm done here."
They hugged again with Kathy constant sniffing Serena could already guess that she would cry bitterly once she left the place, but there was nothing she could do, she wanted to be selfish this time around and only do things that would please her with that the two girls parted and Serena went off to the children shelter.
