Chapter 1 - Introduction (Pls read it!!)

This story is inspired by the style of strategy games like "Crusader Kings" - politics, wars, alliances, and dynasties drive the plot. Think of it as a fanfic set in that kind of world.

Centuries ago, the seemingly invincible elvish invaders crossed the strait and subjugated your people. But now they have splintered and fight amongst each other. It's time to take back what belongs to mankind.

The Tartessian Peninsula. Home. For countless centuries it was a flourishing bastion of human civilization. We were united then. Powerful. A kingdom of great cities, valiant heroes, and sublime cultural achievement.

But success breeds jealousy, or perhaps anxiety in this case. A little over two hundred years ago, the Elven city-states banded together in a coalition, fearing the growing and unchecked power of the Tartessian kingdom. They rallied their forces together for a war of "defensive imperialism" and thus the legendary Ten Thousand Spears of Mezwesh crossed the strait.

They would not taste defeat until nearly the entire peninsula was subjugated.

True to their original intention, surprisingly, the elves of the Mezwesh Dominion were not interested in ruling the humans they conquered. Not directly, at least. Most of the Ten Thousand Spears simply went home, mission accomplished. Quite a few, over one in ten, however, stayed and took human lovers. And from their union, thousands of half-elves were born. The Elven men then appointed their lovers who were typically conquered Tartessian noble women to administrative and leadership roles across the conquered territory.

Finally, as time always does to the short-lived races, the lovers of the Elven men passed away and their lands and riches passed to their half-elven children. Among these half-elves, many married among themselves, and many others married among their fully human collaborators producing quarterelves or simply Elfbloods.

Thus the ruling caste of the Queendom of Al Qadim was born. These Elfbloods adopted their Elven forefathers' faith and cultural attitudes, setting themselves apart and ruling like foreigners. In some places, their queer customs have filtered all the way down to the commoners!

But their domination over the peninsula came to a sudden and violent end a mere thirty years ago in an event known as the Fitna. A succession dispute erupted into a full-scale civil war that fractured the queendom into a dozen petty queendoms that war among each other for dominance.

Yet all is not well in the human kingdoms either. It is a time of great chaos and great opportunity.

You, the King of Alfida, the Kingdom of Silver, stand at a pivotal juncture in the history of the peninsula. Your kingdom is small and weak but your larger neighbors are in disarray and your weaker neighbors are ripe for the picking. Your fate is in your hands, and God willing, you can drive out the fucking Elfbloods from the peninsula and end their centuries-long occupation!

Reconquista was originally written on Fiction.live, a platform where stories are interactive readers could vote on what characters would do next, and random dice rolls sometimes decided success or failure.

For example:

---------------------------------------------------------------

> The hero tries to sneak past the guards.

Readers voted to "sneak in quietly."

A roll was made to see if he succeeded.

The roll failed so the guards noticed him, and the story took a completely different path.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Moments like that are why some events might feel sudden, lucky, or unlucky in this version.

Here on Webnovel, you'll be reading a smoother, novel-style adaptation without polls, rolls, or live chat but with all the original outcomes kept as they were.

Enjoy Reconquista, a story shaped by chance, choice, and the crowd.

I've done my best to keep the spirit of the original intact.

I'll be reposting it gradually whenever I have time after all, I have a job...

I have full permission from the original author to repost this story, in case anyone is saying nonsense about me "stealing" it like last time...
