Synopsis
Ryan was once just an ordinary man, with an ordinary job and life. But one day that ordinary life changed dramatically, the earth was enveloped in an energy known as mana. This sudden and highly dense influx of mana created all kinds of new life—monsters, new plant life, and worst of all, humans. In this world Ryan slowly rose to power, finally becoming the strongest man on Earth, and ruling over all living beings. But in the process of becoming the strongest, he also lost everything of value to him. The love of his life. His parents. Until one day, a goddess appeared, offering him the chance to start everything over. Sending him back to just before the awakening, and granting him a system. Why? This is a truth he would need to find out once he became strong enough.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

On the top floor of a palace thirty stories high, a man stood looking out over the vast expanse of his kingdom. For as far as the eye could see houses sprawled beneath. From the distant ocean, all the way to the flat topped mountain.

"Has it truly been a hundred years?" the man mumbled to himself, his voice seemed monotone and lifeless.

Ryan, the man who is the ruler of the planet that was once known as Earth, his power was incomprehensible. He had all that any human could want, immeasurable power, and he was literally the king of the world. Yet he could not bring himself to be happy.

"For a hundred years I have battled everything, from monsters to men, I've gained a lot…" he mumbled, "yet I've lost everything of true importance."

"Do you believe that you have achieved everything that can be achieved?" a soft feminine voice came from behind him.

Slowly Ryan turned toward the voice.

"And who might you…?" his voice failed him, as behind him stood a woman more beautiful than any he had ever seen, golden blonde hair flowed down her pale shoulders. She was wearing a loose white dress that glowed in the moonlight. Her face was masked in a golden glow, yet he could tell that she was an astonishing beauty.

Soft laughter filled the king's bedchamber, "Let's just say that I am here to help you find the path that you should have walked from the beginning."

"What does that mean?" Ryan asked, his deep voice still as emotionless as before.

"You have achieved much," the woman responded, "but you have not yet even scratched the surface of your true potential."

"How can that be?" Ryan asked, brows drawn in confusion. "I am the most powerful being on this planet, every being both fears and respects me."

"That might be true, but do you really believe that this planet, or for that fact this realm is the only one?"

For the first time in decades Ryan felt a slight stirring of emotion. Yet, it was not enough to tempt him into doing more.

"I don't really care," he answered, turning back to the windows overlooking his kingdom. "For what reason would I want any more power?"

"I lost everything, and everyone important to me… before the actual war for the planet even started." Ryan whispered.

A deafening silence fell over the room, if Ryan couldn't still sense the presence of the woman, he would have surely thought that he had imagined everything.

"You have suffered much," a sad voice resounded. "That is why I want to offer you a chance to undo all of your suffering."

Ryan turned back to her, his eyes drawn in disbelief. "That is impossible, there is no way for me to regain all the people I have lost."

"Not in this timeline… but there is a way for you to start over."

Ryan burst out laughing. "Do you think I'm a fool?"

A sudden golden glow emanated from the woman, her white dress billowing in the wind, her golden hair floating behind her radiating a light like smelted iron.

"I will send you back to just before the awakening happened, you will have all of your memories from this life," her voice sounded through the room, it echoed all around Ryan, yet it was still soft, almost transcendent.

"Who are you?" he asked, as his surroundings started to fade.

"You can call me Iris," Iris's voice softly sounded in Ryan's ears before everything went black.

***

In the now empty King's chamber Iris stood alone, as all matter started to fade from existence around her.

"This timeline will now be restarted," she whispered. "I could no longer sit quietly and watch you suffer alone."

She shifted her gaze to the slowly dissipating ocean in the distance. "I don't want my long awaited reunion to be with a broken man."

As the final pieces of the world started to disappear, a soft golden glow started to fade from the last embers of existence, leaving Iris's final words. "Please come back to me… my love."
