Chapter 1 - COWARD PRINCE

In the midst of a large stage, a gorgeous lady stood looking at a young man opposite her. Her irises reflected golden light with great confidence and power oozing out from them but there was also contempt. At the young man standing opposite her - she glared in contempt.

"You seem to be getting upset by something, sister?" The plain looking young man standing opposite her spoke with a smug face as he rubbed his chin with his hand.

"Your face, seeing it makes me sick Ushar." The lady replied with a sneer.

"Hmm… I know, you have said that about a thousand times already but you still can't stop looking at my sickening face." Ushar spoke sarcastically still rubbing his chin smugly.

The lady face trembled in anger for some moments before she looked off to the side, "Father should really come now, I don't think I can holdback myself for much longer."

The whole place was built like a coliseum with large rock pillars supporting wooden stands into which chairs were carved seating everyone. The crowd on the stage were looking towards the at the center of the stage with growing excitement on their faces, everyone here however strange in that some possessed strange red eyes, others had purple eyes and a very few possessed the same golden eyes like the lady in the stage.

This was because these people were in fact not humans, they were Vampires.

At a certain part of the stand where the golden eyed ones sat however, there was a single gigantic chair which glinted in metallic light and behind it was an enormous crimson gate on the ground from which a flight up stairs led up to the stand.

Suddenly, the large crimson gate suddenly opened and behind it, a golden eyed man with few freckles on his face walked through. He had a crimson crown on his head handsomely complimenting his long jet black hair which however turned grey towards their end, swaying behind him while his golden eyes glanced around the place with an aura of authority.

An old looking vampire with hunched back immediately shouted as the crowned man approached, "Here comes the Owner of the Blood Castle - Lord Axim, King of the Vampires, Lord of Blood Kingdom and the Ruler of Blood!" On hearing this, everyone immediately bowed their head, including the two on the field.

Without a change in expression, the King moved towards the large chair on which he sat and sitting on a smaller chair by the side was a stunning woman who resembled a properly grown version of the girl on the stage, she also possessed a pair of charming golden eyes.

"I welcome you, my Lord." An old vampire spoke bowing to the King before looking back at the crowd with his hands spread out.

"Lord Axim, the King of all Vampires and owner of the Blood Castle has made the decision to choose his heir. He has graciously called on us all to witness the Battle... of the Crown! Now, we will know the one who will inherit the Castle of Blood after our King." The wizen Vampire shouted as he gazed round at the crowd before his gaze finally settled on the two in the midst of the field, "Will it be Ushar? The first child of the King…"

The whole crowd went quiet for a moment before loud laughter rang out at the words of the Wizen Vampire. Even the wizen vampire could not hide the disgust on his face as he glanced at the lean man with night black iris standing below on the stage with scrunched face.

On the stage, the young man looked around with a resigned face. In fact he was quite surprised that the crowd had not been spewing profanities at him since he stepped into the stage.

The wizen vampire however interrupted his thoughts, "…or Morgana, the second and last child of the King." He concluded and this time, the whole crowed burst into wild cheers.

Ushar watched his sister smirked and he felt like rolling his eyes, of course she was everyone's the favorite to win. After all she was the pure breed Royal Vampire while he; he was only a bastard sired by the King, he wasn't the Queen's child. In fact, Morgana was not his direct sister, they were only half siblings.

"Let the battle begin." The wizen Vampire spoke and the cheers turned even louder.

Ushar did not move inch from his place looking at his half-sister whose brow rose.

"Don't be afraid, I give you the privilege to land the first attack, at least it wouldn't be so one sided then." She said looking at Ushar and he chuckled.

"Of course, I really don't want a one sided battle so I quit." Ushar spoke and his sister smiled in contempt before she suddenly stiffened.

Ushar smirked noticing arena went deathly silent, he had really got them all good this time, after all who in their right mind would want to pass a chance to bear the crown of the whole Vampire kingdom. Even if he had no chance of defeating his sister, everyone still expected Ushar to try. Trying would at least give him the chance of being considered for other lofty positions in the Blood Kingdom but running from a fight, that simply sealed his fate.

"Wait, what… what did you say?" Morgana asked, completely gob smacked.

"I said I quit, you are the winner." Ushar said, before turning to the wizen Vampire, "I don't have to repeat myself Viscount Hugh, declare the winner already." Ushar shouted and the wizen Vampire who had also gone speechless fumbled for a moment before anger flashed on his face and he replied, "Yes, Prince Ushar."

Then he turned towards the crowd declaring, "in view of the unexpected submission of the cowardly Prince, Princess Morgana is hereby declared the winner of the Crown Battle." He declared and the crowd cheered again, but this cheer had lost most of its vigor, the Vampires were not satisfied.

Slowly, the King stood, his eyes locked unto both figure on the field before he spoke, "I, Axim, the Lord of the Blood Castle and King of the whole Vampire race with the power granted to me by the Crown of Blood declare my daughter, Morgana as the Crown Princess of the Blood Kingdom." The King spoke and the crowds burst into loud cheers.

On the stage, Ushar had a large smirk on his face as he stared at Morgana who stared back at him darkly, clearly, she was not satisfied with the victory but Ushar didn't care or didn't he…

In fact, even though he was smiling on the outside Ushar couldn't help feeling pangs of pain in his heart. The crown belonged to him but he knew the Vampire never saw him as theirs. He was a bastard who did not even know his mother, the Queen had actually said it to his face once that he was born of a forbidden union and he wondered what that meant. He also did not have the eyes of the Vampire royals, while the royals were easily identified by their golden iris; he instead possessed a pair of black one, as black as ebony.

He was different and this was his sin.

Calmly, he walked out of the arena.
