Chapter 1: How You Feel
This will probably be the last time i can look at a view like this.
Saki has been sitting on this ledge for a few hours, looking at the endless sea at the coast. The sun goes down and the darkness is starting to fill the sky. An old katana sits in his hand.
The sea is inspiring. I know how you feel.
A calm voice sounds behind him. An old man sits down next to Saki. He uses a walking stick, and keeps it in his hand while sitting down to keep balance. Saki doesn't need to see his face to feel comfort.
You have no idea what you're talking about, old man. Saki replies. He seems irritated and avoids looking at the man.
Saki slowly puts the gun back down, and tries to hide it. But the man has clearly seen it.
What is your name? The old man asks calmly
Saki subtly tries looking at his face, but the old man is looking away. He can't see it clearly. Saki… he replies.
If you're standing this close to death, it means you're desperate to find a reason to live…
Listen, There's a village far to the east. That's where I need to go, it's too far for me to make it alone.
A village? What does that have to do with me? Saki mutters.
The old man starts smiling softly. If you already gave up, what is just one more adventure?
Saki hesitates. The rain is starting to get heavier and the wind is picking up, it's starting to get pitch black outside.
Fine. I'll accept.
