Alexis Becker was, if anything, extremely bored with his regular life. So much so, in fact, that he even went as far as seeking thrills through hiking, camping, mountaineering, amongst others extreme sports he did. When that wasn't enough, he resorted to martial arts, becoming a black belt in Taekwondo, Jujitsu, and even mastering wrestling. When even that became too boring, Alexis went back to the one thing that somehow managed to always keep him entertained: Pokémon.
Ever since he was a child, Alexis had had one obsession, and that had been Pokémon. There was something about the idea of having creatures you could befriend, travel with, and live unending adventures with that just marvelled him. It was the life he had always wanted. Freedom, adventures, friends. Having been an avid consumer of anything Pokémon, Alexis had read the manga, watched the anime, and played ever game. Somehow, he still hadn't gotten tired of Pokémon.
Thinking about how bored his life was compared to those of Red, Ash, and the other characters in Pokémon, Alexis turned back and started heading back home from his 15km weekly run.
"Looking good, Alexis," a voice interrupted his thoughts. Looking at the source of the voice, Alexis spotted a young woman, maybe around her early twenties, cycling in the opposite direction. She had complimented him on his looks and his physique a couple times, but Alexis could tell she was just teasing him since she was a couple years older and he was still seventeen.
Still, there was merit to the young woman's compliments, since Alexis Becker, at age seventeen, was what people would call a 'teenage heartthrob'. His short black hair, tousled and slightly spiky, his healthy milky skin, and his bright blue eyes perfectly adorned his sharp facial features. That, combined with a very athletic physique obtained from his hardcore hobbies, turned Alexis into model-worthy material—and the most famous guy in town.
"Thanks, Sheila, see ya later!" Alexis answered with a soft shout as he got further away from her, running back to his house in Sombre Town, a small, off-the-grid town near Bariloche, in the Argentine Patagonia. Alexis's family moved to Sombre Town around three years prior due to his father's work in the petroleum industry, and Alexis actually liked the simple life of the small town.
"Mum, I'm home!" Alexis shouted as he entered through the front door, removing his shoes to walk in the house—mum's rules, so no way was he not following them.
"Oh, Alexis! Go take a shower, sweety, dinner will be ready in a while," his mother answered from the kitchen, the smell of spices overtaking his senses.
"Sure mum!" Alexis answered as he headed straight to his room to grab a fresh set of clothes.
After having a warm dinner with his family, Alexis stayed up to watch a movie with his dad, something he was not able to do during the year, since he had school and his dad usually worked late. They more than made up for that time during the holidays, spending as much time together as a family as possible.
Alexis went to his room and spent some time watching a 'then we fight' video by ShadyPenguin, one of his favourite content creators, before falling asleep with his phone still playing the video. Unknown to Alexis, the world started changing, and by the time he woke up, his life would never again be the same.

"Alexis, could you please go water the plants?" His mother asked him as Alexis finished his breakfast.
"Sure mum," he answered shortly before standing up and heading outside, grabbing a hose to water the plants in his mother's backyard.
As he watered the roses and other small plants, Alexis saw some small rodent-like creatures approach him carefully, as if they were curious animals trying to get something from him. Looking at them, Alexis just smiled and took his thumb off the hose's nozzle, so it would come out as a stream rather than pressurised rain.
"Come here, drink some water," he invited the creature, kneeling and smiling, his entire being exuding an aura of care. Identifying him as a harmless human, the two small rodent-like creatures approached him and began softly drinking water from the hose.
"Skwo-Swovet!" One of the creatures said happily, smiling, as it climbed up Alexis's shoulder and nuzzled his cheek.
Indeed, those creatures were Skwovets, the Cheeky Pokémon. More importantly... they were Pokémon. Once the two young Skwovet were done drinking water, they climbed up a tree and disappeared in the canopy.
"They are so cute," Alexis muttered as he turned off the hose, having finished watering the plants.
It had been a month already since he woke up to find a changed world. Earth had somehow merged overnight with the Pokémon World, effectively turning his regular life upside down. At first he had been absolutely confused, flabbergasted and somewhat terrified, but after two days, he managed to process everything and calm down. Then he realised a small truth about the sudden change. His dream was not reality.
Extremely excited about Pokémon being real, he almost immediately begged his parents to allow him to become a Pokémon Trainer and go on a journey, forgetting his common sense. His parents, almost even more nonsensically, told him he would have to wait until he was eighteen years old to officially become a trainer, bringing up something about a new Pokémon League Association regulation on Trainer's ages.
A bit upset about that, Alexis, returned to being a pouting child for a moment, until he calmed down. He had lived seventeen years without Pokémon, two more months wouldn't be a challenge.
Since that moment, Alexis had started researching everything he could about Pokémon, learning that they were just as magical as he dreamed. He learned about the different League's, the Elite Four, the Conferences and many more things. He himself decided he would take part in the Southern Aurora Conference, which took place at the Windcrest Stadium in the peak of the Andean mountain range.
He had also learned that many people who had never existed before were now real, like Red, Blue Oak, Green, Samuel Oak, amongst other famous figures of the Pokémon World. Even the world had now become bigger, with the addition of a new landmasses in different areas, each one being a region he used to travel through in the games, from Kanto all the way to Paldea. His own home country was now known as part of the Alerma Region, rather than Argentina.
With so much history to learn, places to travel to, and Pokémon and people to meet, Alexis couldn't wait until he was able to properly set out on a journey.
'Just one more month,' he thought as he went back into the house, putting on his running shoes and heading out.
"I'll be back later mum, I'm going to take a run!" He shouted as he stood by the entrance.
"Be careful of the wild Ursarings, don't leave the main road!" His mother warned him.
Now outside of his house, Alexis ran through the circular roads that he had run hundreds of times before, but everything around him arose a sense of marvel he had never experiences before. On the sides of the road small rodent Pokémon like Skwovet and Patrat approached curiously, watching the humans running by, the occasional vehicle scaring them back into the shrubs, bushes, and trees. In the air, Fletchling and Pidove flew over the canopy in groups, with the occasional Mandibuzz flying by, searching for prey.
Alexis couldn't help but smile, as he had done every single day for the past month. Somehow, life with Pokémon just seemed much more lively than it ever had. And he was going to live everything there was to live.
"Just wait for me, world," Alexis muttered, taking a deep breath as his run reached the mark of 15km in almost under an hour. "I'm coming."
