Chapter 1 - Always Bet on Atreus ahh

Grover moaned, his hoofs slipping against the wet ground as Percy and Sally draped their arms around him, carrying him as they rushed towards the property line.

"We can't continue running…." Grover said with a groan, his body tipsy. "We need to kill 'him'." He emphasized as they tried their best to go against the horrid weather.

Grover paused, the wound on his head making him sluggish. "Grover, it's alright. Calm down!" Percy muttered, but the tone of his voice betrayed his words.

Percy glanced back, the man with the blanket over his head continued advancing towards them. His grunts cutting through the freak storm.

"We need Atreus! He's the only one in the entire….." Grover dozed off, as Percy nudged him, "In the entire what, Grover?" Percy demanded softly.

"In the entire camp! He's the only one who can kill 'him'." Grover suddenly exclaimed.

Sally suddenly turned towards him, her eyes beamed with renewed hope, "That's right! Atreus could take him down!"

"Who's Atreus!" Percy suddenly yelled, he was getting annoyed being kept out of the loop.

Grover struggled against his body, trying not to fall unconscious, "He hangs around here at this time... I've heard it." Grover struggled, his head reeling.

Percy looked back, the large man with a blanket over his head seemed to have been closing distance fast.

But the closer he looked, the more he realised something. The man couldn't have been holding a blanket over his head, his abnormally burly hands were swinging at his sides.

Meaning the bulky mass….was his head!

Percy suddenly realised.

He was tall, freakishly tall! His muscles bulged outwards, he looked like those steroid pumping body builders in the Muscle Man magazine.

Coarse brown hair covered his entire body, Percy blinked, "That—I know what that is. Thats—"

"Pasiphae's son." Sally abruptly said, "Don't say his name, Percy. Names hold power." She warned, dreadfully looking back.

Thankfully, the bull man suddenly stopped, seemingly having lost his trail. Thunder and lightning crackled overhead, illuminating his fearsome figure that stopped a few inches from them even more.

The minotaur sniffed around, his ears pricking up, "Doesn't he see us?" Percy naively asked, his voice barely over a whisper.

"His sight and hearing are terrible. He goes by smell, but he'll soon figure out where we are soon enough." Sally whispered, dragging Grover inch by inch.

"Percy, listen. When he detects us, he'll charge. Wait until the last second and then jump sideways. He can't change direction when he's charging. Do you understand?" She advised him.

Percy's mind was filled with doubts, but he decided to trust his mother. He could ask questions later.

"Alright." He mumbled, filing away his questions for another time.

It seemed the Gods didn't favour them, as the minotaur suddenly roared, attracted by the smell carried over by the harsh winds.

Sally suddenly separated, "Remember what I've told you, Percy! Go! Call for help!"

Percy's stomach twisted into knots, but he had a feeling—getting Atreus, whoever that was, was the only way his mom could survive.

And so Percy sprinted to his left. But his eyes widened, the minotaur had somehow arrived next to him

The minotaur lowered his head and charged, his sharp horns pointed straight at him. The fear in his stomach wanted him to bolt, but his faith in his mom made him stand his ground.

And at the last second, he jumped! The minotaur stormed past him like a freight train. But, he didn't return, he shifted his weight and turned towards his mother who had been setting Grover down in the grass.

Percy could see it, the valley and lights of the farmhouse his mom and Grover mentioned. But it was far, too far!

He'd never make it.

"Run, Percy! Run!" His mom beckoned him to flee but he stood there, wrecked with fear.

Sally tried to make her escape, but the minotaur caught up to her. She tried to side-step but the minotaur seemed to have anticipated her action, or maybe it was because she was a mortal.

The minotaur's hand shot out and grabbed his mother by her neck. He lifted her into the air, as she struggled against his grasp, kicking and pummelling him.

Their eyes met each other for a fraction of a second, "Call…call Atreus." She choked out.

Then with a roar, the monster closed his fist around his mom's neck and Sally dissolved in a shimmering golden light.

"No!" Percy cried.

The minotaur locked eyes with the grief stricken Percy and charged towards him. Anger should've replaced his fear, but no, his body trembled with terror.

When one loses everything they have, they normally tend to feel nothing but anger. But when one witnesses their entire life being taken apart one by one, they can only feel one emotion, the most ancient emotion of humans, fear!

Grover was bleeding from his head, would he live or would he be only able to count till 10? He didn't know.

His mom struggled against the minotaur, trying her best to save him, only to die gruesomely. And with that, Percy lost everything he needed to continue living.

As the minotaur kept barrelling towards him, Percy felt his life flash before his eyes, maybe he could meet his mother finally.

Remembering that, Percy closed his eyes in acceptance. But then, he remembered his mother's struggle, her battle to protect him, her battle to try and let him survive.

Remembering that, Percy could not help but grit his teeth. He could not die here!

His eyes snapped open, the minotaur was just meters away from him. Percy's mouth curved open as he used all his powers to call out to him, "Atreus!" He shouted at the top of his voice.

Just as the minotaur's fist was inches away from Percy's face, a whistle cut through the storm.

In an instant, a large battle axe appeared in front of him, nullifying the minotaur's attack.

"A minotaur?" A soft, indifferent voice rang out from in front of him. Percy stared at the figure in front of him as he turned his head towards him, he gazed at Percy indifferently, assessing him while he held back the minotaur with his single bladed axe.

The more Percy stared, the more he had to admit, the boy was breathtaking.

He had striking ocean blue eyes with streaks of lighter blue. His light blonde hair was voluminous and wavy, creating soft curls that fell slightly in front of his eyes and had prominent facial features, creating a masculine and also a war hardened look.

He tilted his head slightly upwards, "You called?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

A/N - So, how's the first chapter? Did you like it? This entire chapter is just a re-hash of what happened in the books because I need to introduce the character. I also don't have the energy to finish the fight scene in this chapters since it's 1:30 in the night. Anyways, drop some stones.
