Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Alpha CEO Grand Entrance

The chandeliers in the grand hall gleamed like a constellation of frozen stars, scattering silver fire across marble floors polished enough to see one's own face. Gold-edged tables sparkled beneath crystal glasses, and gowns swished like waterfalls of silk. It was a gathering of the elite—the untouchable of the city, where money, power, and reputation were the only invitations that mattered.

Yet, despite the luxury, an undercurrent of fear hummed in the air, subtle but undeniable. As if every guest already knew who would arrive, and what his presence meant.

Then the doors opened.

Silence.

He stepped inside.

Tall. Broad-shouldered. His stride was smooth but lethal, like a panther disguised in Armani. His black suit fit him like a weapon forged to perfection. His golden eyes scanned the room—not with curiosity, but with the cold, commanding assurance of a predator surveying territory.

The whispers began, sharp and hushed, like serpents in the dark.

> "That's him."

"The Alpha CEO…"

"He's even scarier in person."

Everyone knew him. His name was enough to make boardrooms tremble and rivals sweat. To the public, he was the city's most ruthless billionaire, an empire builder who crushed competitors without blinking. But in the shadows, where very few dared to look, he was something else. An Alpha. Leader of the most feared werewolf pack that prowled under the city's surface.

To ordinary eyes, he was untouchable. A man who ruled with iron control, sharp instincts, and a hunger no mortal could match.

But one pair of eyes did not lower.

From the corner of the hall, a girl leaned against the wall with her arms folded, the faintest curve of a smirk tugging her lips. She was out of place among the glittering crowd—her dress plain compared to the jeweled gowns, her posture relaxed instead of stiff with admiration.

Where others saw a king, she saw… an actor.

"Wow," she muttered, just loud enough for a few guests to hear. "He really practiced that entrance. Did he rehearse it in front of a mirror too?"

A few nearby gasps echoed, sharp with disbelief. Who dared say such a thing?

The Alpha CEO's head snapped toward her. His gaze locked onto hers, golden fire clashing against warm brown. The air between them thickened, invisible threads pulling tight. Guests shuffled back, as though afraid to be caught in the tension.

For the briefest moment, his lips twitched—amusement, suppressed before it became dangerous. He stepped forward, slow, deliberate. Each stride seemed to echo, heavy as thunder. He stopped just a few paces before her, close enough for the scent of his cologne—spiced wood and iron control—to reach her.

"Do you often speak this way to strangers?" His voice rolled low, deep, like velvet wrapped around steel.

She tilted her head, unafraid. "Only the arrogant ones."

Gasps again. Murmurs stirred. Was she insane?

"You looked exactly like a cliché CEO stepping onto his stage," she added, smiling sweetly. "If this were a drama, the female lead would've tripped by now so you could catch her and fall in love."

His golden eyes narrowed, but not with anger—curiosity flickered there, a rare spark. He leaned closer, his voice just for her.

"Be careful. Wolves don't always bite first… but they never forget who mocks them."

She chuckled, her gaze steady. "Then it's a good thing I'm not a sheep." She leaned in, her lips curling. "And even better that I can heal wolves when they've been bitten."

That hit him. A flicker—too brief for others to see—passed over his features. His aura flared for a second, heavy, suffocating, like the shadow of a beast pressing down on her. Most people would've staggered, heart pounding, knees weak.

But she didn't move.

She had felt killing intent before. She had trained in martial arts since she could walk, learned to stand against pressure that would crush ordinary people. And she had secrets of her own.

Instead of fear, she smirked. "Nice trick with the glare. Ten out of ten for intimidation."

The corner of his lips lifted—just a fraction. Dangerous. Amused.

Before the tension could deepen, a scream cut across the hall. A man collapsed near the buffet, clutching his chest, face pale as death. Panic rippled instantly through the room. Guests shouted, heels clattered, glasses shattered to the floor.

The Alpha CEO didn't move. He simply watched, assessing like a general studying chaos.

She, however, shot forward.

"Out of the way!" she barked, her voice sharper than expected. Training took over. She cut through the crowd, dropped to her knees beside the fallen man, and pressed her fingers to his pulse. Weak. Erratic.

People muttered—Who is she? What's she doing?

She ignored them. With practiced calm, she placed her hands over his chest, closing her eyes. A warmth flowed through her palms, subtle but undeniable. The man's ragged breathing steadied. Color crept back into his skin. In seconds, his eyelids fluttered open.

Gasps rippled across the hall.

"She healed him…"

"What—how—?"

"Who is she?"

She stood, brushing dust from her dress as though she hadn't just performed a miracle. Her gaze flicked to the Alpha CEO.

He was watching her. Not with surprise—no, he was too controlled for that—but with interest. Deep, predatory interest, like a wolf catching the scent of prey it hadn't expected.

He walked toward her, the crowd parting instantly. He stopped close, his voice low enough only she could hear.

"Miracles don't suit formal wear."

She arched an eyebrow. "Neither does arrogance, but you wear it well."

For a heartbeat, the hall was utterly silent.

Then, as if to remind everyone who truly owned the night, he straightened and spoke loudly, his voice carrying: "Ladies and gentlemen, there's nothing to fear. Our guest had a minor… misstep. But as you can see, he's fine."

Calm returned, though unease lingered.

She watched him, biting back a grin. He wasn't just a CEO. His aura wasn't human. She'd noticed the flicker in his eyes earlier—gold too bright, too unnatural. His presence pressed against her senses like claws hidden in velvet.

But she wasn't shocked. She'd seen enough dramas to know this story: the cold CEO with a secret, the dramatic rescues, the hidden danger. Except this time, she wasn't playing the clueless heroine.

She whispered under her breath, just for herself: "You don't scare me. I've seen your kind in dramas. And I'm not your damsel."

Across the hall, his sharp hearing caught every word. And for the first time in years, the great Alpha CEO smiled.
