Chapter 14 - Chapter 13

Viola's POV

I couldn't believe that the pack, the family I had known my entire life would feel threatened by Vex reemerging after this long.

'They don't know that you were bound and poisoned at the age of three Viola. You'll be fine.' Vex tried soothing me as the pack mates let out their fear of me.

'Sure, until they figure out that I actually got my wolf two years earlier than I should have!' I yelled back at Vex in a panic.

"Everyone needs to calm down." My father spoke over the murmurs of the pack. "Viola was a victim of a cruel thing, she is and has always been your pack mate. Danger is not something I think of when I think of my daughter. You all watched her grow up. And we have more pressing concerns, such as the rogues. Brent was just killed in human form at our training arena."

"We understand that, Alpha, but if Viola cannot control her wolf we could all be in danger. The rest of us begin learning at the age of five. She's been a wolf for a week at best."

"It wasn't her fault. And being able to partially shift so quickly is more of a sign of the control she has." My father argued. He met my eyes and gave a small smile. "Viola is finally becoming who she should have been before her wolf was taken from her."

"Yeah, a simpering little wuss." Drew muttered.

"What was that Drew?" Evie asked with a bite to her words as she felt the need to defend me. "I don't think our alpha quite heard you whine about his daughter."

Drew flinched at her words as my father approached him. How scared he appeared in the woods was nothing compared to the look of terror on his face as our alpha's eyes darkened at him.

"Remember your place, Drew. Your father's status will not continue to protect you if you don't." His voice was more than powerful as he locked Drew in a glare.

I may have thought my dad was scary when he was angry, I remember once that I had broken his favorite painting playing around. The sound of my father's boots coming to my room after he found out were loud and heavy. When he yelled at me I was terrified and my hairs stood up. I always tried to not make him angry after that.

But his anger directed to someone who was not his child? My skin was prickling with goosebumps as his demeanor changed to the powerful alpha that everyone knew him as. Someone I didn't see often.

"Yes Alpha Drake." Drew croaked out before putting his head down.

"Alpha Jake, I'm pleased you and your pack have decided to join us." My father said abruptly breaking eye contact with Drew and looking behind where Evie and I stood with Trenton.

We quickly moved from the doorway as the Trinity Pack joined our meet.

"Thanks for the invitation, Alpha Drake." Jake said, his eyes flickered briefly to Drew before meeting my father's eyes once again. "Seems you have some riff-raff."

"Nothing I can't handle." My father looked to Shadow Pack. "I've invited Trinity Pack to participate in our monthly hunt and meet. In order to deal with the rogue problem, we need to learn how each pack works on a hunt together." His gaze took in Trinity Pack as he finished.

"I've given my oath to respect Alpha Drake as the head Alpha during our stay." Jake started. "Trinity Pack will be directed under Shadow Pack so the rogues don't move to other parts and destroy more packs." He nodded at my father as a rippling effect dropped everyone to their knees at the new command. Other than me, Jake, and my father, everyone had bowed in respect to the head alpha. Trinity Pack was officially an extension of Shadow Pack.

"Rise." Was all my father needed to say in order for everyone to get up.

"Now, as I was saying before Drew rudely interrupted, Viola coming into her power isn't something you should fear." His voice echoed as it began to rise and he beckoned me forth with a wave of his hand. I went to my father and stood tall as his eyes praised me. "This is the heiress to Shadow Pack, your future alpha, a queen to Shadow Pack in her own right." His eyes moved over everyone daring them to speak against him. "Viola, lead our shift."

My eyes traveled over everyone as my heartbeat sped up. My eyes landed on Derek who nodded with a sad smile, then to Trenton who gave me a thumbs up. I took a deep breath. 'Vex, let's show em what they're dealing with.' My thought to Vex felt more confident as we ripped forward unable to stand in one spot to shift. I shook my large head and brought it up with a growl. It seemed even though they had seen me from a distance, they hadn't actually gotten an accurate show of exactly how large I was because the moment I turned I heard multiple gasps from the pack as they took in Vex and all of her large white glory.

My eyes found Drew who I could tell was shocked, but as he noticed my gaze his eyes filled with anger. I wasn't ever sure what drove his hatred for me so much, because surely breaking up with him all of those years ago wasn't it. It was a very fleeting moment in my life and he had kept the relationship a secret because I didn't have my wolf and he was embarrassed to be seen with a weak kid.

Before the rest of the pack turned my father looked at me with a pride I hadn't seen since I was incredibly young. When he did turn I noticed that while he was smaller than I was his wolf held a lot of power. Alpha Jake was about the same height as my dad, making Trenton and I the largest there.

We took off out of the gate directly attached to the pack meet arena, just as everyone had finally really started to run, we heard a scream followed by a gurgling sound.
