Viola's POV
Another half of a week had gone by and the mystery girl started stirring without freaking out. I visited the girl often trying to understand her smell. I kept reading and learning with Jake and Trenton about hunters and whatnot, then I would visit the girl. So I happened to be the first face she saw this time.
Her brown eyes were ringed with a grey lining, and though they were fearful, she didn't scream at me.
"Hi, I'm Viola." I spoke softly so she wouldn't be too startled.
"Stella." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
'Dad, she is awake and not screaming, but do not have too many converging in here. She's still scared.' I sent a mind link to my father while giving Stella a smile.
"Hi Stella. You are in the Shadow Pack infirmary. I am going to have our pack doctor come in and take a quick look at you, ok?"
"Don't, don't leave me please." She grabbed my arm. "I don't want to be alone."
'Amy get in here please, she is awake.'
"I'm not leaving." I assured her. "The doctor is already on her way."
She nodded and let go of my arm.
"Do you know why you were running?" I asked.
Her gaze seemed to get drawn away in her thoughts. "They're coming."
"Who? Who is coming Stella?"
Her eyes met mine. "Voldin. His name is Voldin." Stella grabbed my hand. "He tried to kill me, let them feed on me, because I wasn't natural. I wasn't pure like they are."
"Stella, what are they? What are you?"
She began sobbing heavily, not letting go of my hand.
Amy came in then to give Stella a check now that she was awake.
"Stella, this is Amy, our pack doctor, she is going to check on you."
Stella nodded her head as her sobs became quieter. "You'll stay?" She asked me.
I nodded my head. "Of course." Amy and I exchanged a glance.
"Hi, Stella. It's nice to meet you. Most of your external wounds have completely healed. It took awhile though. Your wolf seems to be pretty weak. I've been giving you slight amounts of what is called vangroot, it's a plant that helps your wolf heal." Amy explained in a soothing voice.
Stella nodded as my father walked in.
"Stella, this is Alpha Drake, Alpha of Shadow Pack." I introduced her to my father. "Dad, this is Stella."
'Don't scare her. We need information.' I added with a mind link. He rolled his eyes at me.
"It's nice to meet you, Stella. It's good to see that your wounds have mostly cleared." His voice was steady, not soothing like Amy, but he didn't sound scary either.
"H-hi." She stuttered over the word. She looked at me, her eyes were big and round, scared.
"Would you feel up to some questions?" I asked her softly.
Looking between me and my father she nodded slightly. I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ok, earlier you told me you were running from Voldin. Who is that?"
She looked away. "The master." Her voice was barely over a whisper. "He's the strongest and oldest vampire to exist." She looked at my dad. "He hates wolves."
I sucked in a breath quietly. 'Vampires? We are being picked off by rogue vampires?'
I wasn't sure if I was talking to Vex or mind linking my dad, but they both just kind of seemed to be gaping at the news.
"Ok, what about you Stella?" I pinched my brows together. "You said you were unnatural, they fed on you because you were not pure like them…" my eyes widened in surprise as I connected the dots. "Your mother is a werewolf, isn't she?"
Tears slipped from her eyes as she sniffled. "Was. She was a werewolf. Voldin killed her the minute I was born."
"Voldin is your father?" She nodded. "And he did this to you? Let them do this to you?" She nods again.
"How did you get away?" My father asked carefully.
"It was my first turn." She wiped at her eyes, her voice appearing to be stronger. "They couldn't get me before I got out of the chain."
"I don't understand, why did you come here?" I asked curiously.
"It was the first place I got to. After getting away, I just ran, there's this voice in my head and she guided me, told me that I needed to find pack gates."
"Your wolf you mean?"
"That's what she said, that she was my wolf."
"Stella, how old are you?" Wolves typically appeared at the age of five and begin shifting immediately. I was an odd duck because of being bound. But this girl was clearly not a five year old.
"I'm nineteen. Just turned last, wait, how long have I been here?" She started panicking.
I put my hand on her shoulder, "Hey it's ok, it has been about two and half weeks since you were found at the gates."
She leaned back. "They're trying to run down packs, one by one. If I've been here that long there must have been more deaths."
I nodded. "Yes we have lost more people. I keep losing their scent before I could find them."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "You can smell them?" She whispered while sucking in a breath. "It shouldn't be possible."
"Why not?" I pressed.
"Our scent dies when we die. Our vampire gene doesn't kick in until we have died, and with it, our scent dies as well." She explained.
'Well that certainly explains the smell.' I told Vex.
'Tell me about it.' She shuddered.
"Ok, Stella, we need your help." I looked to my dad and back to her. "We have to kill them."
I wasn't sure what her reaction would be, I mean clearly there was no love loss here, but it was her dad.
"Yes you do. You need a witch, a witch and silver. Lots of silver." She shuddered.
