She didn't understand, they had everything going well for them. He loved her, he had even displayed his affections to her. But once their child was born on the pale moon light of the full moon, in their wolf forms. It was when things changed. Instead of our child being a male heir to their pack, with dark hair like him.
No, instead our child was a girl. With white as the moon, hair. Every time she tried to get him to hold their child, he glanced away, ignoring her. It was slowly breaking her heart. Lidia didn't know how long she could live with her mate and have him openly have him disregard their daughter.
As she rocked her daughter in her arms. Her mate came into the room, with a scowl on his face. Reeking of alcohol. She knew that something was not going to be right for her and her child. Whom her mate left nameless.
"Lidia, leave the child, you and I need to talk."
"But," she tried to explain that the child needed to be rocked to sleep.
"Now Lidia," he growled darkly.
She knew not to anger him further. She laid her daughter in her crib. Hearing her fuss, only broke her heart. Closing the door behind her, just as the girl had started to wail.
Lidia scrunched up in fear for her daughter. Seeing her mate, had anger in his eyes. But his focus was on her. "I don't know how you did it, but that mutt in there isn't mine," he growled in anger. "How else can you bore me a child who is a female and white furr?"
Lidia knew better than to reply to his drunken speech. The last time anyone had tried doing that, they got knocked down, cold. She wasn't saying that her mate would ever hurt her. But as he was, she wasn't going to take any chances. Her daughter needed her.
"You may have noticed that I've been gone for a few nights," he glanced her way then. Making her feel uncomfortable. She did wonder about it, but was afraid to ask. "I have been sleeping at your sister's house. "Lacy's…"
"Lacy," she asked in disbelief. Her sister had just become of age to live on her own. Their parents had just built her a cabin, so when it became time for her to make her own family. She was able to do it. "Damen, please, don't," she begged.
She shook her head as tears leaked down her cheeks. Of all the things to go bad, he had to betray her like that. "You are my mate," she growled softly. "Not hers…"
"Mate," he shook his head. "My mate would give me a male heir that had my markings." His voice was dark and hints of betrayal. "I've talked with your parents. They are not holding me to our mating…"
"Wh…what," she gasped, as she stepped away from him. She was starting to feel dizzy, sick from all the information that he was giving her. 'My own family…' Tears kept coming down her face.
"But… our daughter," she tried to remind him.
"She isn't mine," he growled at her angrily. "You betrayed me first, Lidia. I want you gone by the end of the week." He turned around and left out the front door. Slamming it closed behind him.
At that moment, her daughter cried louder, but she didn't have the energy to move to help her. Lidia fell to her knees and cried. First it was Damen that broke her by being with her sister and then her parents allowing it to happen. But there was one thing that Lidia knew, she wouldn't trade anything for her daughter. Because she was the byproduct of her love of Damen, even if he didn't believe her.
She cried for the shattered love, she deeply loved her alpha, Damen. If she didn't have her daughter, she would have died that night. Werewolves who are deeply connected as she was to her alpha, would have died, if she didn't have a child to force her to live for. A betrayal like that could cut deeply. But luckily for her, she had her daughter.
"Stella," she finally named her on her own, since Damen didn't want any part of naming her. Then a thought came to her mind, her own great-grandmother was a white werewolf. Her name was Luna because she was as white as the moon. Lidia then wondered, if her great-grandmother was a white werewolf, did it mean that she carried that white fur onto Stella because of that. "Then that would mean, Lacy could also have a white fur werewolf child too."
She started to laugh, it would be a sweet revenge, if Damen would have white fur children running around. She ended up laying on the floor with a smile on her face and tears on her cheeks. "Oh Damen… you will not be happy at all," she smiled fondly. Lidia felt whatever despair she had left her. She still loved him, even if he had stopped loving her.
"My alpha," she whispered softly, like a lover's prayer. "You will find no peace here…" She didn't care if she sounded crazy. She was betrayed by the one man, wolf, who said that he would be with her to the end. Now look at him now, off to be with the next woman in her family that he could be with. Her sister.
From the experience of the day, sleep overtook her. As she slept on the floor, as where she laid. The next morning, she found a blanket had covered her, with a note on the coffee table. It was her mother, saying she had packed everything for her and the baby, along with money. Saying that it would be for the best for everyone that she should leave now, and not to cause any more emotional upheaval.
She also stated that she remembered where the white werewolf had come from. But she wasn't going to tell Damen about it. It was best that he found out about it for himself. It would be best if he found out with more than one child.
Lidia knew that her mother wanted what was best for her daughters. And that was to keep the alpha in the family, no matter which daughter it took. But that was another betrayal too many for Lidia to face. So with that in mind. She gathered everything that was hers and Stella's and left.
She didn't know where she was going to go. But anywhere was better than being Colville, Washington. A small town where everyone knew who you were. She got onto a bus and headed south. Everything was south from Colville. Going north would mean Canada.
