Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Viola's POV

'We need to get Max and Evie.' I mind linked to my dad.

'Already on it.'

"Stella, would you like to get some air?" I thought that walking outside might help her nerves. It was a very sunny day and the only snow to be seen was located on the tops of the mountains.

We walked around the grounds while my father watched from a distance. I saw Max and Evie go to meet him as we walked.

"I haven't seen the sun like this in so long." She mused. She looked to where my father stood. "There's a witch over there." She whispered.

"Yes, her name is Evie." I was surprised as hell that she could pick out a witch just like that. Was it a vampire trick?

"She smells like a good witch." Stella looked up to the sky again as her platinum blond hair fell back from her pale face.

"You can smell good and bad witches?" My curiosity was piqued.

She nodded. "That was what they used my mom for before they killed her. At least it is what I have been told." She shrugged.

'Her mom must have been a witch hunter.' Vex muttered to me. I nodded inwardly.

"Have you ever seen such a beautiful day?" Her question didn't seem to actually need an answer as she smelled the small breeze that picked up our hair. "I could be out here forever."

"Stella, are the vampires able to walk out in the daylight?" I hadn't ever done much research on vampires.

She shook her head no. "When I was little they would keep me in a room that had a small box over the top that they could open to let the sunlight in. I remember how they would just get so upset that I wouldn't burn." She looked to the ground. "When they saw it wouldn't hurt me, and that it made me feel better, they took it away."

I grabbed her hand and made her face me. "If you stay here, that won't have to happen again. We take in new pack members all the time, if they accept the oath to be in Shadow Pack."

She gave me a small smile. "Well, for now, I will help you deal with my nest. But I don't want to make any decisions on that right now. It's all so much, and I'm not sure how welcomed I would be. My people are killing yours." She was blunt and to the point, which I liked. But her tone wasn't rude.

I dropped her hand and gave a small smile. "Well, if you are helping us kill them then I guess that would help show the pack what side you're on anyway."

Evie's POV

"We need magic to kill vampires?" I asked. My interest was over the top. Alpha Drake nodded at me.

"She said magic and a lot of silver." The alpha grabbed his chin and paced momentarily in front of me and my father. "We will have to go to the mines. We need an expedition of omegas to get this dealt with so we can have an advantage on those creatures."

My father nodded his agreement. "I will set it up, Alpha."

"Evie, I will need you to learn from Stella exactly what it is that you will be doing. I have a small supply of silver that I can readily give so she can help instruct you on what it is that needs to be done."

"Yes, Alpha." I nodded and went to catch up with Viola and Stella as they had been walking the courtyard.

"Hey you." Viola smiled as I approached. "Stella, this is Evie, Evie, Stella." She made a quick introduction for us and I extended my hand to shake Stella's.

"Nice to meet you Stella." I smiled warmly remembering that the girl had been terrified since she woke up. Though it seemed that perhaps she was getting over that with the help of Viola.

"And you, you smell nice." Stella spoke easily.

'I smell nice? Interesting girl so far I guess.' I spoke to my wolf, Erica.

'She can smell the difference between good and bad witches.' Viola's voice sounded in my head with her mind link.

"Thanks. So, where are we figuring out the spell work and such for the silver?" I asked expectantly.

"We will go to the training center. The arena has enough space for this." Viola answered.

After Alpha Drake got to the training arena with the silver he had spoken of, he stood off to the side while Stella began telling me about dealing with vampires.

"Ok, in order for silver to be deadly it needs to be spelled, the incantation for this requires invoking death and combining it with earth magic." She grabbed one of the silver ingots. "After you have spelled the silver, it should turn into a point, or multiple points depending on how big the silver is. The points can be added to the end of weapons, or ingested."

"Ingested? Like eating a pointy metal piece?" I shuddered. "What is the purpose of that?"

Stella smiled. "This is what made vampires scared to attack wolves, if the spelled silver is ingested then their claws when they transform to their wolf become deadly."

"It sounds deadly to the wolf swallowing it." Viola murmured.

"You would think so wouldn't you? But it doesn't stay pointed when it's ingested by a werewolf. Something about their saliva melts it after it is spelled."

"Ok. What do I do?" I was determined to understand the spell.

"To invoke death, you ask wind to blow away the door between worlds, and summon a reaper soul. When you have the reaper soul, you ask Earth to contain it and bless the silver." Stella instructed then backed up, waving for Viola to follow. "If we are a decent distance away we won't be subjected to the spell."

I got nervous at her words. "Uhm, subjected to what exactly?"

"You're summoning a reaper soul, if anyone else besides the caster is nearby, we are screwed. You'll be fine, Evie."
