In the endless folds of space, a big jade platform floated quietly. A figure sat cross legged on it, his aura alone distorting the void around him.
The figure was a handsome middle aged man, his face was cold and indifferent. He was more than eight feet tall with long crimson hair cascading like a waterfall.
His eyes slowly opened, revealing deep blood red eyes with galaxies swirling in them. A sigh escaped his lips, bitter and resigned.
"Looks like there's really no way to cure this injury."
This man was Chen Haoran, a name that shook the heavens of countless chaos worlds. He stood at the peak of the immortal realm for millions of eons, yet he could not break that one last barrier to the celestial realm.
Ten thousand eons ago, he travelled to a forbidden ruin for adventure. In the ruin, he acquired a technique borne from Grand Dao itself. A technique said to open the path to the celestial realm. Countless immortals engaged in a battle to seize that technique, that battle shook countless chaos planes.
Under the combined attack of a few dozen immortals as strong as Chen Haoran, he barely managed to escape with the technique alive.
But that came at a cost. His very existence was fractured. An existential injury is a wound no immortal could ever heal. Only the Celestial Gods could heal such an injury.
When he finally returned to his chaos plane, Chen Haoran discovered the technique he had nearly died to acquire could only be cultivated by a mortal at the beginning of their path. For him, already at the peak of the immortal realm, it was useless.
Unless he reincarnates and starts from the beginning again.
For five thousand Eons, he did everything he could to heal his existence without success. At last, he cast away all reservations.
With a flick of his sleeve, a golden scroll appeared before him, an aura beyond mortal or immortal radiating from it. This was a Celestial Reincarnation Edict. Though immortals are capable of entering samsara and reincarnating at will, they will only be able to remember fragmented memories from their past lives. And immortals can't control their place and time of rebirth once they enter samsara. But with this edict, reincarnation with all memories was possible for even a mere mortal, and one could choose when and where their rebirth would take place. He had to trade almost all his treasures for this edict from the heavenly court.
Chen Haoran's affairs were in order. The Chen clan was a powerful clan with 7 peak immortals. He had 6 wives, all of them being immortals and two being peak immortals. Though he knew his wives would be livid at his decision, he was certain his temporary absence would not shake the foundation of his clan. And he would reincarnate back into the chen clan anyways.
"Yuelin and the rest must have received my message by now. I wonder how they would react to seeing me as a baby." He thought with a rare smile on his face. He gazed at the golden scroll, his expression became calm yet determined. "Since I've obtained this technique, I might as well gamble everything on it."
He formed hand seals and pointed at the golden scroll.
Weng!!!
The scroll shuddered before unfolding into the void, transforming into a massive golden gate with divine symbols inscribed on it. Behind the gate, was infinite, suffocating darkness.
Sitting cross legged, Chen Haoran's soul separated from his body. He did not turn back to look at his body. With the same indifferent expression on his face, he walked in the void until he was before the massive gate.
Standing before the massive gate, he felt small and insignificant. Without hesitation, he walked leisurely into the gate.
[Ethereal Hegemon World, Eastern Continent, Chen Clan.]
A handsome middle aged man with long white hair and red eyes, in a white ancient robe laced with golden thread, stood in front of a room. You could see he was a man of great status from the heavy aura around him and the number of people silently standing behind him. His expression was indifferent and icy.
His name was Chen Daotian, the current patriarch of the Chen clan. The people behind him were the Great Elders, Elders and Deacons of the clan. Each of these people had high status in the Chen Clan, yet they all stood in front of a house, silently waiting.
The reason is that the third Matriarch is in labor. They all had a look of worry and expectation on their faces.
"Waaaaaah." Soon, an infant's cry broke the silence. Chen Daotian immediately rushed in to see his wife and child. There, he saw his wife holding a cute baby boy with clear, pure, and intelligent eyes. He walked over and held his wife and newborn son in his arms.
Although his wife had just given birth, she wasn't feeble like a mortal woman who had just given birth, but was full of energy. After all, she was a strong cultivator. She happily hugged her son and kissed him on his forehead.
She then passed the baby to her husband.
"Son." Despite holding his son in his arms, Chen Daotian seemed very cold without a hint of a smile on his face. Yet if one looks closely, one could see excitement and boundless love in his eyes.
'It seems I've been reborn.' Chen Haoran looked at his giant like father through his large baby eyes. He understood that this man holding him and his mother look like giants only because he was in the body of an infant
"Thank you for your hard work, you can leave now." Chen Daotian said to an old woman and two beautiful young maids beside her.
"Yes." They bowed respectfully and quickly left.
Chen Haoran suddenly felt a warm mysterious energy entering his body. It was very comfortable.
"Daotian, how is my son doing?" His wife asked hurriedly.
"As expected, his body's quality is pretty good." Chen Daotian said softly with a tinge of smile on his cold lips.
"Your name will be Chen Haoran, meaning Vast and Mighty like the endless sky." He said calmly while looking at his son in his arms. This name contains the great expectations he had for his son's future.
