Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Celestial Undying Sutra

Within a private chamber in Xie Meilin's courtyard in the Chen Clan, Chen Haoran sat cross legged, his eyes closed and his expression tranquil and peaceful. The walls of the room shimmered faintly with protective formations that isolated the room from the outside world.

In front of him were ten jade stones, each one as big as a baby's fist. They pulsated with a pale glow, pure qi essence surging through them. These were Qi Essence source crystals. They were used as currency in the cultivation world, and also used for cultivation.

In the corner of the room, a dark scroll was tossed carelessly to the side. That was the Earth-rank technique he had "chosen to cultivate with" in front of his mother earlier in the clan's treasury. Though he knew he wasn't going to start his cultivation journey with a puny Earth-rank technique, he needed a smokescreen to keep up appearances.

Techniques in every chaos plane were divided into eight ranks: Mortal, Profound, Earth, Heaven, Mystic, Ancient, Immortal, and Celestial.

The Chen Clan only had three Earth-rank techniques and a single Heaven-rank technique that could only be cultivated by the patriarch and his successor. Although Chen Haoran was the fourth young master of the Chen Clan, the next clan head was already selected before his birth.

A heaven rank technique was still trash to Chen Haoran, who was an exalted immortal in his past life with thousands of Immortal rank techniques and millions of lower-ranked techniques in his memory.

Yet, none of that mattered. The sole reason he had abandoned eternal supremacy, the reason he willingly threw himself into reincarnation, was to cultivate a technique that defied heaven itself.

The Celestial Undying Sutra

A legendary all round technique split into two parts: The Celestial Undying Body Codex and The Celestial Undying Soul Codex.

Qi essence was abundant everywhere under heaven and earth. Element Qi such as fire qi, water qi, earth qi, air qi are called profound Qi. Cultivators subconsciously absorb profound Qi to cultivate. But above all other Qi essences, the strongest Qi essence is Celestial Qi. Normally, only celestials, who transcended both mortality and immortality to become true Gods could sense and absorb celestial Qi.

But the Celestial Undying Sutra broke that law. It allowed a mere mortal to absorb normal Qi essence and change it into Celestial Qi in their body, something no other technique in existence could do.

Chen Haoran obtained this technique only by chance. If he hadn't been in the ruins the moment it was unearthed, he would never have had the opportunity to obtain the technique. Actual Celestial Beings would have fought over the technique if it appeared anywhere other than a Grand Dao ruin that didn't allow Celestial Beings to enter.

Now in this life, he would accomplish what he could not before.

Chen Haoran picked up two of the jade stones before him and focused on the Celestial Undying Sutra etched deeply into his soul.

In the cultivation world, cultivators walked three possible pathways to gain power: The body refining pathway, the Qi essence pathway, and the Soul pathway. Most people only had the talent to walk the Qi essence pathway, which is the most common pathway in existence. There are also some special people who had the talent to walk on the soul pathway. Most cultivators don't walk on this pathway because its early stages are very weak. Some cultivators also chose the pure body refining pathway, especially those with poor talent for the Qi essence pathway. A handful of geniuses could attempt both the body refining pathway and the Qi essence Pathway. But those who could walk all three pathways are very rare, and they always become legends if they do not die early.

The Celestial Undying Sutra enabled one to walk on all three pathways. The Celestial Undying Body Codex fused both body refining and Qi essence pathways, while the Celestial Undying Soul Codex opened the last and most mysterious pathway, the soul pathway.

Chen Haoran's lips moved faintly as he recited the Celestial Undying Body Codex.

"Consume the essence of the universe, refine the origin of the Dao, and achieve divinity."

As he recited the technique, the two jade stones in his hands rapidly dimmed. Waves of Qi essence rushed out of the stones and surged through his veins like a raging tide. His skin immediately turned crimson as the Qi essence in his body was rapidly transformed into Celestial Qi. Sweat dripped down his temples as the temperature in the room became incredibly hot.

Crack.

Thirty Minutes later, the crystals crumbled into ash. Without hesitation, he picked up another two and continued absorbing.

Time passed. Two hours later, his body shuddered violently and then.

Boom.

A cooling sensation erupted within his body, spreading through his veins, blood and bones like a cold spring. His flesh felt stronger and brimmed with vitality. He had broken through and stepped into the first realm of the seven mortal spirit realms, the origin spirit realm.

He had stepped into the second level of origin spirit realm in body cultivation and soul cultivation. Also he reached the third level of the origin spirit realm in Qi essence cultivation.
