Chapter 1 - Prologue; Reality of Ascendants

Since time immemorial, ancient monstrosities and incomprehensible cosmic horrors have fought for strength and influence throughout the cosmos. Entities capable of rendering entire realities lifeless without so much as moving a finger wander the starry sky, while mortals fight for crumbs of power left in their wake. Countless lives lost in the endless struggle for supremacy. For true Godhood. Above them all reigns the System. The entity in control of the very fabric of existence, and nonexistence. Ruthlessness was but a given to those in power, and none could escape its inevitable grasp. Even so, they fought to survive, and ascend to the highest of peaks.

On a small blue planet, one yet to be introduced to even the most basic forms of Chaos World Essence, over 10 billion people were going about their life. Chaos World Essence flowed through every living thing, pumped through the world by its core. Without it, the world would cease to be. All life would be extinguished and the very world itself would crack and shatter without Chaos World Essence acting as nourishment. In spite of the Chaos World Essence's omnipresence within the world, none of its inhabitants knew of its existence, nor its potential. The world's consciousness oversaw the seeds of life it had sown, recognizing the ever expanding capabilities of its dominant species. It felt like they were ready to take the next step. To begin the Path of Ascension.

Waves of Chaos World Essence began to ripple across the world. The amount of Chaos World Essence was so great even those unattuned to it could feel it, like a flood of electricity rippling across the entire planet's surface in an instant. Cracks began to form across the surface of the planet as it unraveled itself. The once spherical world was slowly morphing into a flat plane. As it flattened and stretched, its surface also expanded. 1 thousand times larger, 1 million times, 1 billion. The small solar system around it faded as the illusion upheld by the planet's will was destroyed. Though it outwardly stopped expanding after reaching the size of its illusory home galaxy. it continued to expand infinitely within its own contained spatial fold. From within this spatial fold, the now infinite plane reached out to its true Universe, restoring the once broken connection to its former glory. Rifts began forming all across the plane's surface. Deep blue in color, with blending streaks of white and teal flowing across the swirling surface.

The Rifts differed in size, some as small as a person, while others dwarfed the buildings around them. Despite the massive change the planet had undergone, barely a few hundred had died. The planets will had used a small portion of its Chaos World Essence to protect them from the chaos. Now, however, it was different. The Essence shields surrounding them vanished as they fell down onto the ground. Even though the world had expanded to an infinite size, the entire human population had remained within an area roughly the size of its former spherical shape. As a result of this expansion, every human made structure had collapsed, broken apart or been annihilated by the sheer power of the planet's will. Panic spread like a wildfire throughout the human population.

Within minutes, anarchy had spread across the entire planet sized area of humans. It was at that moment, when chaos had taken over the world, that the rifts opened. Monsters poured out across the entire infinite plane. Horrific monstrosities that seemed to hunt the native fauna of the world poured out in the millions. The already ruined cities became the final resting place of billions. There seemed to be no escape, no refuge, no chance at survival. Hours passed. Then days. To the people that had survived that long, it seemed hopeless. Modern military equipment was deemed useless, even against the weakest of the monsters. They shrugged off bullets like they were made of cotton. Tank shells rained, but all it seemed to do was anger them. Even intercontinental nuclear weapons failed to kill, or even severely injure these monsters. Weeks passed. Only 250 million people remained alive. Almost 10 billion people were massacred in just weeks. This was far beyond anything the world had ever borne witness to.

It was at that moment, when the entire world had fallen, that The System descended. Glowing screens flashed in front of every human that remained. Then the transformation began. Chaos World Essence entered the bodies of the survivors and began to change them. Those that survived the change gained superhuman strength, and full access to the powers of The System. For the less fortunate and those that had already died, a far worse fate awaited them; Essence Overload. The first signs of Essence Overload began to appear in those that had already died by the time The System manifested. It started as glowing blue veins radiating out from the heart. Those that were still alive became more violent. They would attack people without provocation, slowly losing their mind to the madness. Their skin started changing to a silvery tone as fishy scales formed over their heart. The scales spread slowly over the course of several days, before finally engulfing the entire body. Those that had already died, rose again as monsters. They became known as The Lost. The 1st Phase of the world's Integration has begun.

With the aid of The System, the inhabitants began to fight back. They grew stronger and reclaimed the lost ruins of old cities. Bastions of hope formed as the world's survivors fought back the tides of Lost. The people who had once lost hope, picked up their weapons. It was a war for the future existence of humanity within this world. Despite their resistance. Despite their ferocity. This new world order proved to be too much for the inhabitants to survive. The monsters still pouring out of the Rifts, along with The Lost and the transforming fauna eventually wiped out the last traces of humans. The world itself had become Lost. The Worlds Will mourned the massacre, as the world fell from Tier 0 Integration World to a Lost Beast World. Such was the fate of many planets within this Planetary Cluster. Of the 387 planets within Cluster 8629B only 1 had overcome the 1st Phase of Integration. Such was the reality of Integration.
