Chapter 1 - Ch 1 First Impression

The sun beat down on the Oakwood High campus as students bustled about, chatting with friends or rushing to their next class. Ryder, the star quarterback, stood tall, surrounded by his loyal gang. They were the kings of this domain, and everyone knew it.

Ryder's piercing gaze locked onto a lone student, trembling beneath his scrutiny. "You think you're funny, don't you, weakling?" Ryder sneered, his voice dripping with malice. The student cowered, apologizing profusely as Ryder's gang laughed and jeered.

Alex Chen watched from a distance, his eyes narrowing in distaste. He knew better than to interfere; Ryder's reputation preceded him. Alex took a deep breath and walked away, heading toward his new classroom.

As fate would have it, he entered the same classroom as Ryder and his gang. Ryder's eyes met Alex's, and for a moment, they sized each other up. Alex felt a shiver run down his spine, but he refused to back down. He took his seat, trying to blend in.

Just then, a flustered Victoria burst into the men's bathroom, looking frantically for a place to freshen up before her first class. Realizing her mistake, she spun around to leave, but her eyes met Alex's, who was washing his hands.

"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Victoria exclaimed, her cheeks flushing.

Alex chuckled and offered her a reassuring smile. "It's okay, I think I've seen more embarrassing moments in my life."

Victoria laughed, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks for understanding. I'm Victoria, by the way. New student."

"Alex Chen," he replied, holding out his hand.

As they shook hands, Victoria noticed Alex's calm and collected demeanor. "Thanks for your help, Alex. I guess I still need to get familiar with the school."

Alex smiled. "No worries, I'm new too. Maybe we can explore together?"

Victoria's eyes sparkled. "That sounds like a great idea."

As they parted ways, Alex couldn't help but notice Victoria's classic beauty and intelligence. Little did he know, their chance encounter would be the start of something special.

As Victoria walked into the classroom, Ryder's eyes locked onto hers, and he couldn't help but notice her classic beauty. A sly grin spread across his face as he whispered to his friend, Jake, "Looks like we got some fresh meat around here."

Victoria, oblivious to Ryder's gaze, took her seat next to Alex, who gave her a warm smile. Mrs. Johnson, the teacher, introduced Victoria to the class, and Ryder's eyes never left hers.

"Welcome, Victoria," Mrs. Johnson said. "I'm sure you'll fit right in here."

Ryder snorted, loud enough for the whole class to hear. "Fit in? With those grades? I doubt it."

Victoria's eyes flashed with annoyance, but she kept her composure. "I think I'll manage," she replied coolly.

Alex shot Ryder a disapproving look, but Ryder just chuckled, enjoying the attention.

The class began, and Victoria focused on the lesson, her intelligence and quick wit impressing Alex. Ryder, on the other hand, continued to disrupt the class, making snide comments and causing trouble.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, Victoria gathered her things and stood up, her eyes meeting Ryder's. Ryder sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "Well, well, well, looks like we got a new plaything. You're definitely not from around here, are you? Your clothes are so... last season."

Victoria's eyes flashed with annoyance, but she kept her composure. "I think my clothes are fine, thanks for noticing."

Ryder snorted. "Oh, I'm not just noticing, I'm going to make sure everyone knows you're mine. You're going to be a great addition to my collection."

Alex stood up, his eyes locked on Ryder. "Leave her alone, Ryder. She's not interested."

Ryder's gang stood up, forming a semi-circle around Alex and Victoria. "Oh, look at the little hero trying to save the damsel in distress," Ryder sneered. "You think you're tough, Chen? You think you can protect her?"

The tension escalated, and it seemed like things were about to get out of hand. But just as Ryder's gang was about to make a move, the classroom door swung open, and Mr. Thompson, the school's strict disciplinarian, walked in.

"What's going on here?" Mr. Thompson barked, his eyes scanning the room.

Ryder's gang quickly dispersed, and Ryder himself smiled innocently. "Just having a friendly discussion, Mr. Thompson."

Mr. Thompson's eyes narrowed. "Save it for the principal's office, Ryder. Victoria, Alex, you're coming with me. Let's get you two settled in and make sure you're adjusting well to the school."

As they followed Mr. Thompson out of the classroom, Victoria whispered to Alex, "Thanks for trying to protect me. I can handle myself, though."

Alex smiled. "I know you can. But some people just need to be put in their place."

As they walked to the office, Mr. Thompson lectured Ryder about his behavior, warning him that further incidents would result in serious consequences. Ryder smirked, knowing he was untouchable due to his status as star quarterback.

Once Ryder was dismissed, Mr. Thompson turned his attention to Victoria and Alex. "Alright, let's get you two settled in. Victoria, I'll show you to your locker and get you familiar with the school's layout. Alex, you're doing well so far, keep it up."

As they walked, Victoria turned to Alex and whispered, "Thanks again for sticking up for me. I owe you one."

Alex smiled. "No need to thank me. Just be careful around Ryder. He's not someone to mess with."

Mr. Thompson overheard their conversation and nodded in agreement. "Ryder's got a reputation, that's for sure. But we'll keep an eye on him. You're both new students, so let's make sure you know the school's policies and expectations."

As they reached the office, Victoria and Alex exchanged phone numbers, making a silent agreement to stick together.

As they entered the office, Victoria and Alex were greeted by the school secretary, Mrs. Lee. "Welcome, Victoria! I'll get you all set up with your schedule and locker combination. Alex, nice to see you again."

Mr. Thompson handed over the paperwork and nodded. "I'll leave them in your capable hands, Mrs. Lee. Make sure they know the school's policies and expectations."

Mrs. Lee smiled warmly. "Don't worry, I'll take care of them. Victoria, let's get started on that paperwork, and I'll show you to your locker."

As Victoria followed Mrs. Lee, Alex lingered behind, watching them. He noticed Ryder lingering by the hallway, his eyes fixed on Victoria with an unsettling intensity.

Alex's instincts kicked in, and he quickened his pace to catch up with Victoria. "Hey, Victoria, I'll walk with you to your locker. Make sure you're okay."

Victoria smiled, appreciating the company. "Thanks, Alex. I think I'm going to like it here."

As they walked, Alex kept a watchful eye on Ryder, who was now talking to his friends, glancing at Victoria with a mixture of curiosity and hostility.

As the days went by, Ryder's behavior became increasingly erratic. He would intimidate students, using his supernatural strength to bully and dominate. His gang followed his lead, and soon, they were terrorizing the school.

Ryder's ultimate goal was to claim the title of Alpha, the leader of the werewolf pack that controlled the territory. He believed that by dominating the school, he would prove his worth to the pack's current Alpha.

Meanwhile, Alex and Victoria grew closer, bonding over their shared experiences as new students. They began to notice strange occurrences around school, but they couldn't quite put their finger on what was happening.

One full moon night, Ryder's transformation became more pronounced. He sneaked out of his house, running wild through the woods, embracing his werewolf nature.

As the full moon hung low in the sky, Ryder howled, his voice echoing through the forest. He was one step closer to claiming the Alpha title, but little did he know, a new challenger was emerging...

One day, as they sat together at lunch, Victoria turned to Alex and asked, "So, what's the deal with Ryder? He's always causing trouble."

Alex leaned in, his voice low. "I've heard rumors he's part of a...group. Something supernatural. But I don't know what to believe."

Victoria's eyes widened. "Supernatural? You mean like paranormal stuff?"

Alex nodded. "Yeah, exactly. People say he's got abilities beyond normal humans. But like I said, it's just rumors."

Victoria's curiosity was piqued. "I think there's more to him than meets the eye. And I don't like it."

As they continued talking, they noticed strange looks from other students. Some seemed fearful, while others appeared fascinated.

Alex whispered, "I think we're getting close to uncovering something. But we need to be careful."

Victoria smiled mischievously. "Don't worry, I'm always careful. Let's dig deeper."

Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of Ryder's laughter, echoing through the cafeteria. He was surrounded by his gang, exuding an aura of dominance.

Alex and Victoria exchanged a knowing glance. They were just getting started...

As the days went by, Victoria and Alex grew closer, bonding over their shared curiosity about Ryder. They would often sit together at lunch, discussing their theories and observations.

One day, Victoria turned to Alex and said, "I'm so glad we met. You're the only one who understands me around here."

Alex smiled. "I know exactly what you mean. You're the first person I've met who doesn't think I'm weird."

Victoria laughed. "You're not weird, Alex. You're just...interesting."

Their friendship blossomed, and they found themselves looking forward to each other's company. They would study together, explore the school, and share secrets.

As they sat in the library, working on a project, Victoria leaned over and whispered, "Do you believe in supernatural stuff?"

Alex's eyes sparkled. "I've always been fascinated by it. Why?"

Victoria's voice dropped to a whisper. "I think Ryder might be...something more than human."

Alex's eyes widened. "What makes you think that?"

Victoria glanced around the library, making sure no one was listening. "I've seen things. Strange things. When he's around, the air seems to change. And those eyes...they're not normal."

Alex's curiosity was piqued. But as he leaned in closer, a sudden wave of dizziness washed over him. He gripped the edge of the table, trying to steady himself.

Victoria's brow furrowed with concern. "Alex, what's wrong? You look pale."

Alex forced a smile, trying to brush it off. "Just a little lightheaded, that's all. Must be the lack of sleep."

But Victoria's eyes lingered on him, suspicion etched on her face. She didn't believe him. And Alex knew it.

For a moment, Alex's mask slipped, and Victoria caught a glimpse of something vulnerable beneath. But Alex quickly regained control, hiding his secret once again.
