Chapter 1 - Shiny but Dark

Purple Diamond tied to a chain of pure silver. It's the darkest shade of purple that no one has ever seen. Only one piece of this beauty exists in this world. It was sealed in a full black box under the Dark Ocean. Mysterious as it's beautiful as sound and look. Even sunlight can't reach it, and history has no clues about it.

One day, because of moving tectonic plates, a small bubble of gas burst under that box, making it free from holding rocks. A creature begins to hold it with his flexible eight legs. He didn't recognize it as food, so he threw it on a rock and left. The impact was a little big, but enough to break the decade-old lock. The locket got free from the box and floated upward to the ocean surface. It floated on the surface for a long time and got onto a hot beach. Even though it was a bright crystal, no one noticed it because the locket was attempting to blend in.

After sleeping on the beach for two nights, a young girl named 'Seraphina Hallow' noticed a shiny object on the beach and went to investigate. She discovered a gorgeous locket, but it was gleaming from within. She says, "What a dazzling gem." but the guy sunbathing behind her says, "What? It is quite dark." She said nothing and went home to present this to her roommate. But her roommate failed to notice any shine, so she thought about it for a while before putting it on her table and falling asleep.

Last night, Seraphina had a dream where her mother was waving a purple ring and shouting, "Run! Honey, take Sera...and run!" It was so vivid and frightening that it made her wake up sweating and breathing heavily. To calm herself down, she looked at her locket, which had two light sources inside. But the memories of her mother and the dream were still haunting her. To ease her mind, she took a walk along the same beach where she found the locket, trying to hold back her tears. As she walked, she couldn't help but wonder about her past. She had a happy family once, but why were her memories so blurry and incomplete? Why did she end up in an orphanage all of a sudden? And who was her father? The questions lingered in her mind, making her feel lost and alone.

After some time, she reached that beach again, looking at the ocean and holding a purple diamond. Wondering about its shining sources, she decided to find other people who could see the light. She took a picture with her phone, but in the picture, the diamond was not shining; rather, it was sinking dark and resembled a stone. Now she had to find people without the internet.

She was currently at Red Strand Beach in Genniv Beg, Gahanive. Determined, Seraphina traveled to Cork in search of someone who could see the light. After departing by bus at night, she noticed it was done exactly twenty-four hours after the locket was found. She was on an empty bus, except for one old couple and her. The couple was sitting in front of her seat, but she felt a sensation of being watched from behind, which gave her shivers down her spine. In fear, Seraphina turned around and was shocked by seeing a dark, blurry figure in the last seat, staring at her. She started sweating, and in a panic, she told the old couple about it, but they saw nothing. Also, now Seraphina didn't see anything. She was shocked but also relieved. Her bus reached Cork, but she couldn't overcome the sensation of being watched. Her bus was en route to the Black Ash Park bus stop. Suddenly, a truck crashed into it from one side and crushed it. Seraphina's head collided with the window and started to bleed; then she lost consciousness.

When Seraphina woke up in Southern Health Board Hospital lying in bed, a doctor named Dr. Thaddeus Blight said to her, "The shiny locket is on the table beside you.". Seraphina heard the word 'shinny'. She jumped off the bed, grabbed the locket, and saw that the light sources were now three. Thaddeus also knew that he told her to lie on the bed, but she asked him how much time had passed since he touched the locket. "I don't know, maybe eight hours?" he replied. She felt relieved that his twenty-four hours were not completed yet.
