Chapter 1 - The end is the real beginning

On a cold day overshadowed by a gray sky and an eerie silence, the members of the Kairam family gathered in the execution yard to witness my final moments.

I am Severin Diuk Kairam... or as I was nicknamed, the Bloody Hound...

I am one of the Kairam clan members and the son of its current head, Heunkel Fang Kairam... but honestly, my situation is like many of his thirteen sons—

A middle-ranked son.

The family is divided into four categories, but only two concern us.

First, those who bear the middle Fang name—they are the family leaders and direct descendants from his first wives.

Second, those carrying the Duke name like me, which means they are either sons of one of the secondary wives or one of the concubines' children.

Since I belonged to the second category, I was mostly one of the hound .

I carried out all kinds of missions in my life—participating in battles against the six other great families, assassinations, and even nearly impossible suicide missions. The only evidence left of my achievements were the scars all over my body. Perhaps the most notable was the scar on my cheek from our battle against the White Tiger clan, which served as proof that I was the one who killed their leader. But...

It seems that none of that really matters in the end. I am shackled on the guillotine, awaiting the final chapter of my story...

"Hmm~ it seems the time has come."

The executioners stood before the guillotine, awaiting the sentence. Heunkel asked, "Any last words, you traitorous dog?"

Severin raised his head, his face vacant—no anger, no sadness, no regret—just emptiness. He smiled and said: "It's not like the hunter listens to the cries of his prey... even if the prey itself is his hound..."

Then Severin closed his eyes, and the last thing etched in his mind was Hyunkel's face—full of nothing but contempt and disgust, twisted with regret, anger, and a desire to destroy everything. He thought to himself, "If only I could turn back time to tear this miserable fate apart with my fangs."

The signal to execute was given, and with it, the guillotine's blade fell, writing the last chapter of his miserable life... or so he thought...

He opened his eyes to see a familiar ceiling and stretched out his hand, saying, "Isn't this place... wait, are these my hands?!"

> This can only mean one thing!! I have traveled back in time!!
