THE ALPHA'S DARK BOND
The beginning:
MERIDA'S POV
Agonizing screams, pain, wails, and slaughtering echoed in my pack as my mother urged me to run.
"Go Merida! Run!"
I turned around and ran, as I heard my mother's last words.
I ran through the forest, branch snapping, blood and bruises, but I didn't stop.
I couldn't let them catch me; I wasn't going to die like this. I ran and ran until I crossed a pack's border, falling and blacking out cold.
As I slowly opened my eyes, I found myself in an unfamiliar room. My eyes darted around as I slowly regained consciousness. A voice startled me.
"Oh, I see you're finally awake."
It was a male's voice, strangely familiar.
"Who are you! Why did you bring me here!" I asked, trembling slightly as my heart pounded in my chest.
"Whoa, calm down, I'm not gonna hurt you. First of all, I'm Jayden, or you can call me Jay, and I'm the Alpha's beta. And I brought you here because you were in the Alpha's territory."
"But I found out you're just a harmless little she-wolf. This is the Blood Moon pack, and our Alpha is Alpha Xavier," Jay's voice was a bit reassuring.
"W...what, as in Alpha Xavier, the ruthless psychopath who killed a whole pack by himself when he was 18..?" I almost had a heart attack.
Did I really wander into the pack of Alpha Xavier, the feared, ruthless, most dangerous alpha in the four regions?
He laughed softly as I stated my fact.
"Yep, but I'd respect it if you don't call him a ruthless psychopath..."
"So why did you bring me here? You could have just left me there."
He thought for a moment before speaking. "You're right, I would have left you there, but the Alpha's sister, Maya, insisted I bring you in."
"So... where's t-the Alpha?" I felt chills run through me as I asked about him.
"The Alpha? He'll be returning tonight," he smiles at my stuttering.
"W...What?..." My face turned pale when I heard it. That man, the beast, he was going to return tonight. I had to escape.
"Why are you so afraid of him?" he asked me in a curious manner.
"I wouldn't want to talk about it," I said as I avoided his curious gaze.
"If you wouldn't mind, I have things to do. Do not go anywhere," he sternly said as he got up and walked out.
I sank into the bed, thinking about what I had gotten myself into. Well, he said not to go out, so I guess he wouldn't mind it if I explored the room.
As I got up from the bed, I stepped on something. It was a bracelet with names embroidered on it.
"J M," I wondered to myself, what names it stood for.
Soon it was 8:15 p.m. As I sat in the room, I was extremely bored and decided to go against Jay's words. What could happen?
I opened the door and peeked my head out, and God, the interior was beautiful—the tiles, the curtains, everything was luxurious. I sneakily walked in the hallway, checking everywhere for escape.
I saw the library, and I felt an urge to go there. I always had a thing for libraries. I entered, and it was like heaven, many bookshelves and books I could barely count.
I pulled out a book and started reading it. I was lost in reading, not realizing how much time had gone by.
I slowly sat up and tiptoed towards the room Jay left me in, only to bump into something hard.
No... not something, someone.
I swear it wasn't a human. I looked up, and my heart almost stopped beating. It was Xavier... the Alpha. Jay told me he would be arriving tonight, and I totally forgot.
Before I could speak, his hand shot out as he squeezed my neck, making me gasp for air. "Y-you're k-killing m-me."
"What are you doing in my halls?" he spoke, his voice commanding and dominant.
My vision blurred as I clawed at his grip.
I saw Jayden running towards him at the edge of my vision.
"Alpha—please spare her!" he pleaded, not wanting me dead.
"Why should I not kill her?" he asked coldly.
"Alpha, your sister demanded I bring her to the pack house when we found her laying outside of the pack house," he said with his head bowed low, not daring to meet his eyes.
For a long, terrifying moment, his golden eyes locked on mine, his expression unreadable.
He scoffed and let go of my neck as he threw me on the ground. As Jayden whispered in my ear, "Stay safe." And then he walked away with Xavier.
I rubbed my neck where he had squeezed as I felt it ache. I crawled to my room, so scared and frightened.
As I lay in the bed that wasn't mine, I tossed and turned for hours as I stared at the ceiling, thinking about what the next day would bring and if I'd survive it.
