Chapter 1 - Awakening to the system

Aimi laid in that hospital bed, staring at the translucent screen before her.

Gamer system activated and synchronised

Check your status as soon as possible!

How she had gotten into this hospital bed to awake to this strange sight?

It had been a normal day at the academy, they were sparring. Now, she could hold her own against most of her classmates, she was in fact stronger than most of the other civilian kids but she had the misfortune of being paired up with Sasuke Uchiha, the man that all the girls were fighting over. Personally? She never liked him that much. Sure, he was handsome and mysterious but also cold and aggressive, something which he proved by not holding back one bit. Against the civilians, she could hold her own but these clan kids were on a whole nother level. He had hit her on the head pretty hard and the next thing she knew, she was in this hospital bed, staring at the screen in front of her. She knew the basics of gaming, her little brother, Haru -who hadn't joined her on the path to shinobi, not for a lack of trying but just for having no talent in any of the shinobi arts- played them and she had even watched him play sometimes. If this was real, not just some cruel genjutsu, then she knew what to expect, right?

"Status?"

Aimi Midori

Titles: Academy student; Gamer

HP: 300/300

CP: 300/300

Attributes: 0

Strength: E+

Constitution: E+

Dexterity: E+

Chakra: E+

Skills: 0

Gamer's body: EX(Allows you to live life like a videogame character, sleeping in a bed restores all hp, cp and clears all negative status effects)

Gamer's mind: EX(Allows the user to think calmly even under pressure, immunity to all mental status effects)

Academy Taijutsu: E+(The basic academy fighting style, capped at C+)

Throwing: E+(Kunai, shuriken or just rocks)

Clone jutsu: D-(A simple E rank illusory clone, capped at C+)

Transformation jutsu: D(A simple E rank illusion, capped at C+)

Substitution jutsu: D-(A simple E rank technique, capped at C+)

Yeah, that was what she expected. Attributes, skills, it looked all too familiar, the setup was somewhat like one of Haru's favorite games, Shinobi simulator: grand adventure. In that game, E+ was the last rank before venturing into the realm of genin. She scanned the screen. The academy three had all reached genin level, which made sense, since she was fairly proficient with them. How did you raise through the ranks in that game again? Training and quests!

"Quests?"

Current quests:

-

No quests yet, so training it is. She didn't feel any pain from the wounds Sasuke had given her, probably thanks to gamer's body, so she surely was fine training.

She stepped up from the bed and dropped to the floor, doing push ups. Now normally, she could only do it for ten minutes max before her body gave out from exhaustion but until she was disrupted, an hour had passed, and she didn't feel tired at all "1100- 1101- 1102"

The medic nin -a 20-something year old man with dull grey hair and eyes- walked in on her doing exercise and quickly checked her out.

He looked more than a little surprised, noting that she had no injuries left, "Under all logic, it should've taken days to heal this properly, you had quite the head trauma but now… it seems like you have healed those injuries in mere hours! I don't know how this could be happening…"

"Am I… free to leave?"

"Seeing as you are perfectly healthy, I don't see why not. Come back if you feel unwell", the chunin gave her a thumbs up, "Try to be more careful next time"

"Will do sir"

She walked out of that hospital and sprinted to her house. Just as with push ups, she never grew tired, didn't even have an increased heartrate. Was this the body of a videogame character? Characters in Haru's game didn't need food, water or even sleep, was that all now true for her?

"Mom! I'm back!"

"Mom is out grocery shopping and dad is on the construction site", Haru's voice echoed from the living room, where Aimi found him playing his videogames, not shinobi simulator: grand adventure but some other game which she didn't recognise, "I thought you were in the hospital, big sis"

"I was, I'm all better now, don't you know that your sis is really strong?", she ruffled through his messy green hair, smiling at him, "Remind me in that rpg game, how did you get quests again?"

Haru's eyes sparkled with excitement, normally, she would never even talk about his games, "oh, that's easy! They just pop up as you play, either when entering a new location or when talking to someone"

A *Ding* rang in Aimi's ears

Quest: To better understand your new powers, play at least one hour of Shinobi simulator: grand adventure and beat the first boss

Rewards: 1 skill point

"I still don't fully get it, why don't you let me play that one for a bit and learn the basics?"

"Really?! Thank the kami! Finally, you come around to see the awesomeness of videogames! Here, take the controller, I will search for the game disk"

She took the controller from him, it had good weight, about the same as a kunai, even though this one wasn't made of metal.

"Right, here it is! come, I'll show you the basics-!"

Aimi struggled through the tutorial, dying to enemies which Haru said were 'way too easy to lose to' and after 3 hours, she finally beat the first boss, something which would take Haru like 20 minutes max but finally she did it. Their Mother, Ai, didn't interrupt them, being satisfied that they were bonding.

Quest completed. Rewards issued

Next to all the skills, except gamer's body and gamer's mind, little upgrade arrows appeared. She poked the one next to academy taijutsu and immediately, she felt a rush of new memories appear in her mind, katas which had once been too difficult to grasp now fit neatly in her head. Her taijutsu had now reached genin level. Great! Next thing, upgrade her attributes! Training should still work, right? She giddily ran out the door, saying, "I'll be back in a short while"

Her mother didn't respond but she was already out the building and began running circles around konoha. It was on her second lap, that she heard footsteps next to her. A man in a hideous green jumpsuit was running next to her. He was definitely a shinobi, judging by the forehead protected around his waist, "How good it is to see young students embrace the power of youth! How many laps do you plan on running, young lady?"

She felt weirded out by this guy with bushy eyebrows, no one was that upbeat without having an ulterior motive, "this will be my-"

She wanted to say 'last one' but was caught off guard by the *ding* in her head.

Constitution increased by one rank

The difference was immediate, she could feel her body empowering, not exactly 'stronger' per se but more hardy definitely. She stopped dead in her tracks.

"Why are you stopping? Let your youth flow!"

"Sorry, but I- er- need to get back home before it gets dark, or else my mom will get mad"
