Chapter 1 - 《DXD: Multiverse Journey》Chapter 1: Opening with a Rainbow-Tier Starter Pack

"Parents gone, money in the bank, house all to myself... Guess I really am living the cliché now."

As a supposed lucky transmigrator from Blue Star, Shuo's life felt anything but enviable. Compared to other dimension-hopping predecessors, his situation was downright pitiful.

"Eighteen years. Eighteen! And still no system cheat? Seriously, what kind of cosmic joke is this?"

Frustration knotted inside him, anxiety flickering in his eyes. He knew exactly where he'd landed—this was the world of High School DxD. And from the memories of his previous life, he understood just how dangerous that made things. Devils, Angels, Fallen Angels, gods from every pantheon, dragons... This was a battlefield for the divine, and he was stuck in the crossfire with nothing but his wits.

To make matters worse, he was smack in the middle of it all: Kuoh Town. Kuoh Academy. Ground zero.

And as if fate enjoyed tormenting him, he shared a classroom with Rias Gremory herself—one of the story's main heroines.

He might've been able to stomach all that, maybe even convince himself he could keep a low profile and survive. But his research turned up something far more unsettling: Issei Hyoudou—the original Red Dragon Emperor—had vanished. Not just missing; it was as if he'd never existed. Even Saji Genshirou hadn't become a Devil under Student Council President Sona Sitri.

Saji was just another student at school, but Issei? No trace. No rumors, no records, nothing.

Shuo had chalked it up to butterfly effects from his own arrival. He even went to Issei's supposed mother for answers. After multiple conversations, she insisted—she'd never had a son named Issei Hyoudou.

The pervert protagonist's disappearance made Shuo uneasy and completely wrecked his plans. But facts were facts—no amount of worrying would bring Issei back.

What he did know was this: Kuoh Town was Devil HQ. Two Maou sisters lived here. Fallen Angels ran wild. Soon, high-ranking Fallen Angel executives would try to wipe out the town. Then the White Dragon Emperor, Khaos Brigade, and a whole parade of apocalyptic threats. Hell, even evil gods were plotting invasions.

He'd landed in the ultimate otaku fantasy world, and at first, Shuo dreamed of standing at the top.

Now? That dream felt laughable.

Bottom line: he was just an ordinary student, powerless to do anything meaningful. DxD was crawling with incredible girls, but all he could do was watch from the sidelines. All he wanted was to give them a safe, warm home—was that really so much to ask? The helplessness gnawed at him.

He'd spent years trying to unlock some hidden potential, training his body, pushing his limits. Nothing. No matter how hard he worked, he stayed painfully, dangerously normal. In this world, powerlessness meant tiptoeing through life, knowing his fate hung on the whims of beings who could erase him with a snap of their fingers. Any random Stray Devil or Fallen Angel could end him on a whim.

For a Blue Star transmigrator, it was beyond depressing.

"School's starting again soon, which means the plot's about to kick off. At this rate, I might have to beg Rias or Sona to make me their Devil servant. But I'm just some honor student nobody—why would they even notice me?"

Looked like he'd have to take things one day at a time.

Ding! Divine Check-in System loading... 20%... 50%... 80%... 100%

A mechanical voice echoed in Shuo's mind, freezing him in place.

He stared, stunned, for a solid ten seconds. Then excitement exploded inside him. If it weren't the middle of the night, he'd have shouted to the heavens: "Web novels never lie! My time has finally come!"

He forced himself to calm down, then asked the obvious question: "What took you so damn long?"

"This system only awakens when the main storyline begins."

The system's answer was blunt, almost apologetic.

Shuo rolled his eyes. "Dog system, do you have any idea what these eighteen years have been like? You know how many nights I've lain awake, terrified some Stray Devil would gut me for my organs?"

Eventually, he cooled off. "Divine Check-in System? Give me the rundown."

"This system functions as named. Check-ins at designated locations or completed missions yield rewards. Both check-ins and missions are ranked: White, Green, Red, Black, Purple, Gold, Violet-Gold, and Rainbow."

"Simple enough. I can work with that."

His mood flipped, despair replaced by hope.

"But system, I can't just wander around looking for check-in spots. My memory isn't perfect, and I don't know every significant location. Is there some kind of map or marker?"

If the system only worked at specific places, that was a problem—he couldn't exactly globe-trot on a whim.

Instead of answering, the system responded with action. A translucent screen materialized in front of him, visible only to his eyes.

The display showed countless check-in points scattered across a vast map. Heaven, Hell, even the Dimensional Gap had markers. Of course, he didn't have the power to reach most of those places yet.

Shuo zoomed in on Kuoh Town and immediately spotted dozens of question-mark check-in locations. Not surprising—this was where most of the main heroines hung out. It would've been weirder if there weren't opportunities here.

After exploring the interface, he dismissed the screen.

Then a thought struck him, and he grinned. "System, you're eighteen years late. Don't tell me you don't have a starter pack? Every other system has one. You can't be that lame, right?"

"..."

Ding! Congratulations, Host has received Newbie Gift Package: Rainbow-Tier Check-in Package

The announcement hit like a lightning bolt, leaving Shuo frozen in shock.

"Holy shit! System, you're a legend! The highest possible tier—a Rainbow-level starter pack!"

Pure joy lit up his face.

Honestly, he hadn't expected the system to be this generous. He'd planned to haggle for some basic ability, just enough to change his situation. But now? All he could say was: System, you're insane!

From what he'd seen on the system map earlier, even Great Red—the strongest in DxD—only got a Violet-Gold tier check-in package. He figured Ophis, the Infinite Dragon God, might rate pale Violet-Gold.

But him? He'd just landed the absolute maximum: Rainbow-tier.

This was about to be one hell of a windfall.
