Luna's POV
The shadow monster's claws raked across Luna's arm, drawing blood.
She stumbled backward, clutching the wound as dark magic burned like ice through her veins. This was the third shadow creature that had broken through their defenses today, and Luna couldn't understand why their combined magic kept failing.
"Sunny!" she called, but when she looked for him, he was fighting his own battle twenty feet away, surrounded by writhing shadows.
I need help! she thought desperately through their bond.
But instead of Sunny's usual warm response, she felt only cold silence. He was blocking her out again, just like he'd been doing since yesterday morning.
The shadow monster lunged at Luna again, its red eyes blazing with hunger. She threw up a shield of silver moonlight, but the magic flickered and died almost instantly. Something was very wrong with her powers.
