Chapter 14 - Detention Center

DAVINA

I was nervous, my fingers peeling at my flesh as I walked out, with my old backpack strung over my back. The maid from earlier had her eyes on me, every move I made, she would take note of.

I quickly realized she had been placed by my side by the Alpha to monitor me.

Thank goodness, Uriel had escaped through the window before she could walk in, but the scent of our arousals was still in the air.

I got to the entrance of the mansion, seeing the boys getting into the car, I followed after them as heat bloomed in my chest. But then, I felt a hand on my shoulder, pulling me back.

The maid's brows creased, her eyes staring down at me, "What do you think you are doing?"

I swallowed, with my eyes blinking, "Going to school?"

"In a car?" She sneered, as she pushed me away from the car door, her face a sheet of scorn as she hissed, "You haven't earned your place here."

I froze as chills went down my spine but I could feel my heart doing a relay run. As my eyes turned to look at the brothers, their faces were devoid of emotion. Even Uriel didn't have his usual smile on his face.

I opened my mouth, "Shawn—"

Bang!

The car door shut as the car kick-started, zooming out of the mansion without the brothers even looking back at me. This time, the chills that ran down my body gripped my heart too. I was plunged into reality so fast, it felt like a slap to the face.

"Looking at those eyes..." The maid began beside me, laughing and the mockery laced within crawled on my skin. "Do you think you can seduce the brothers to do your will?"

"I..." I stuttered with a shaky breath. "I didn't do anything like that. You are mistaken."

She ignored me, eyeing me before wiggling her butt back into the mansion. I had no other choice but to walk to school, however, I quickly realized it wasn't a walk in the park. I was sweating buckets, and after an hour of running and walking, treading on rough paths, I stumbled into my class.

I took a deep breath, holding my knees for support.

Another reality came crashing down on me again, when I looked up to see familiar faces crowding around me.

"You pig!" A finger jabbed into my forehead, pushing me to the floor. "You stink! Didn't you take a fucking bath today?"

Laughter ensued, eyes thinning at my mockery, "Don't blame her. I heard her mother is now married to another man. Maybe she has become a maid in her stepfather's house."

"Maids don't bathe, after all."

I stood up, my fingers clawing at the wall. Their words cut deep, reminding me of my mother's cruel abandonment. I was afraid, afraid they would really know the true pathetic life I lived.

"Davina..." They came at me again. "Tell us, are you going to fuck your stepfather and maybe act in some porn for us? That's what you would be good for anyway."

I froze, as my hands curled into his fists. These words were turning into monsters in my head, a cruel reminder of my reality. I hated that they would say those words to me without a bother.

I hated that this was reality.

"Stop it," I whispered.

"Wait!" They gasped. "What did you say?"

"Stop it already..." I gritted my teeth, as I strained my neck to look at them. For the first time, I met eye to eye with my bullies.

Aria, Zayne, and Hera, with their underdogs behind them. Their faces morphed into one of disbelief, mouths gaped open.

"The bitch dared to talk back!" Aria screeched, her face burning with anger.

But then, I was pumped as I was fueled with a burning fury, "You have no right! You have no right to talk about me that way—"

Bang!

A hardcover book came flying at my face, the edge cutting into my face, drawing blood. The metallic scent filled the air. Zayne had attacked me with all his might and when I turned my gaze to him, he slapped my chin.

"Don't fucking look at me with those ugly eyes!"

Pak!

My head swung to the side, my lips bursting with blood. A five-finger mark appeared on my face, with a sharp sting. My breath shook as tears clouded my eyes. I felt a knot in my chest, hard and twisting.

"What's going on here?" A stern voice echoed in the class and they all scrambled to their seats, sporting innocent looks on their faces.

"Nothing, Mr. Conrad, we were just advising Davina to do better with her looks." Aria said sweetly as she tilted her head, "Isn't that so, Davina?"

All eyes turned on me as Mr. Conrad scrunched his nose in disgust, "That's right, you are always disheveled. Go clean yourself up and don't come back until you look at least presentable."

I swallowed, wiping the tears off my eyes. Mr. Conrad of course knew what had happened here but he would rather turn a oblivious eyes, preferring to kiss ass. I turned, my footsteps bouncing off the walls in the class.

However, right before leaving, I met Shawn's eyes.

My heart sank when I realized he had watched the whole thing without even saying a word. He had sung praises about my body and would even die on my hill last night if I had let him, but now, he acted like I was a damned stranger.

The harsh reality was too heavy to bear as I dragged my feet out of the class. Maybe I wasn't worth that much. I wasn't worth the risk.

The school was deserted at this time, all students in their designated classes while I navigated the empty corridors, finally finding a rest area. I crouched down to the bench, peeling my wet hair off my face.

Slowly, I pulled my phone out of my backpack, dialing my mother's number once again.

Even though she had left me in this deep abyss, I desperately wanted a change at this moment. I wanted her to take back those words and show she was really my mother.

I yearned for love.

The call rang thrice before it connected, "Hello...?"

"What is it?" A deep voice echoed on the phone. It was familiar yet distant. I swallowed, realizing it was the Alpha.

"I want to speak to my mom—"

Beep!

The call ended before I could say another word. The cruel coldness, and neglect made me shiver. However, I slowly realized I had made a big mistake.

A few minutes later, I heard footsteps and I stood up to see two stern teachers walking toward me.

"Davina Williams, move to the school's detention center."
