DAVINA
I was escorted hand-in-hand by the teachers, their gazes straight and hands bulging with muscles. I must say I had not seen such straightforward and strict teachers at school.
These people seemed to be a little different and the only thing that put me at ease was the identity badges on their breast pockets.
We got to the door of the detention center, secluded from the rest of the buildings like an asylum but then my feet dragged on the hard floor, as I refused to go in.
"Can I know my offense? I didn't do anything wrong, did I?"
They finally turned to look at me, their eyes sharp like knives making my stomach dip.
Their heads tilted to the sides at the same time as if they were possessed while mouthing words that left me dreadful and shaken to my core.
"No mistakes, next time. Do you understand?"
Before I knew it, I was pushed into the room, my body almost falling to the floor but then I sharply turned around, banging on the closed door.
"Wait! Please, let me out! How long am I going to be here?"
I screamed, my eyes flashing with the memories of the times in the dark room Ethan threw me in. I couldn't help the sinking feeling that washed down my body and I had to clamp my legs shut to stop my bladder from bursting.
My eyes darted around the room with no form of color, all white, and it was doing something to my brain already. My fingers dragged on the wall, toward the window hoping for some kind of relief. The room was on the highest floor of the tallest building in the school, and I hoped I would be able to talk to someone.
However, I reached the closed window, overlooking the almost empty surroundings and I almost lost hope until the moment I saw the brothers with Aria smiling happily at them.
My hands clutched the windowsill, fingers digging into the hard metal. Shawn had ignored me in class and here he was smiling at Aria? Even though Uriel and Ethan stayed back, they must have known she was my biggest bully.
I strained my ears, trying to listen in on their conversation but then I could hear nothing. All I saw was Aria skipping away with a big smile on her face. It only meant she had gotten what she wanted. She always had her eyes on Shawn and he had given her the attention while I was locked up in a white room.
And Uriel? He had promised to come see me at school and I bet he had forgotten my existence. My body sank to the floor, as my chest tightened with a painful knot. The reality I was plunged into was still so painful to accept.
No family, no love and the ones I thought loved me set their eyes on someone else. Maybe they had even taken advantage of me, lying to me about being their mate.
As my body quivered, I couldn't help the tears that dripped down my face, hot ones that seemed to scald my skin. I reached for my phone, thankful it had not been taken away from me. No matter what, I couldn't keep staying in such a depressing room.
But the next second, the door swung open, and heavy footsteps echoed with a ferocious man stomping toward me.
"You never learn!" He slapped the phone out of my hands. It flew a few meters away, cracking on the hard floor.
I shivered, my wet back glued to the wall as the man's eyes were as terrifying as hell. His fists clenched, veins bulging in his arms and one hit from him and I would be on my way to meeting the Moon Goddess.
"I won't do anything..." I shivered. "I promise, please, don't hit me."
I kept pleading with tears pouring down my face and a few minutes later, he left. I looked over the window again to see that the brothers were gone and they never even noticed I was close. I was a mate they weren't even aware of.
And for the next two hours, I was saddled with thoughts that almost shrunk my soul to dust and all I could think of was my wretchedness that looked the same as the empty white walls with no color.
My thoughts tortured me to sleep and by the time I was awake, the sky had turned dark, the room was shrouded in darkness and the school was eerily silent. I shot up to my feet, my lips quivering with a shaky breath and my eyes stared at the door, hoping I would be let go soon.
I didn't dare move an inch as I didn't want to become a punching bag.
An hour later, the door flung open and a woman walked in this time, her eyes looking over me as if I was invisible.
"You can leave!"
I scrambled around immediately, picking up my phone and rushing out of the room. A scream almost tore out my throat but then I held it in. I was breaking apart inside but then I would be damned if I threw a tantrum.
My feet carried me back to my classroom where my bag was strewn across the floor. My chest tightened as I had at least expected Shawn and the brothers to care that they hadn't seen me. But what was I expecting? They only needed me when I was home.
As I walked into the mansion, my fingers swiped on my phone as I wiped the tears that streamed from my eyes, as it was past 9pm. The mansion was deserted already with the maids already in their beds for the night and the brothers weren't in sight.
In that moment, a video popped up on my phone and I froze.
"Hey, guys, these are my new friends..." Aria's voice spilled through as she winked at the camera, her smile as radiant as ever. My eyes blurred as I saw that the new friends were none other than the brothers who had vowed to protect me.
She had her hands all over them and her lips kissing their cheeks already. I realized I wasn't seeing things earlier in the detention room.
"Where have you been?" Uriel's voice echoed behind me and my heart almost flew up my throat.
But then I clutched my phone, hiding it in the folds of my clothes.
"Nowhere..." I shook, my eyes darting.
"Nowhere? The school has been closed for hours now and Shawn said he never saw you get back to class. Where did you go, Davina?"
He clutched my arm, the constant warmth in his eyes had now turned into a fire that could consume me as a whole. But I was equally furious. How dare he?!
My eyes flashed, "You have no fucking business with my whereabouts! Get the fuck off my face!"
My voice bounced off the walls, my chest heaving with my teeth gnashing.
The way his face morphed with confusion, and the hurt that crossed his eyes made me go still for a moment with a flash of guilt but then these boys didn't deserve any form of pity after trying to play games with me.
I turned to leave, stomping on the hard floor but he followed. The minute his fingers curled around my arm, I swung my hand in his face.
Pak!
A sharp slap landed on his face and it whipped to the side, "I fucking said you should get off my face! Go! I hate you!"
I didn't see his face as I threw him off of me but then I could hear his heavy breathing and the light groans he let out. I ran, he followed, coming after me like a raging beast. The house was a maze but then I could at least locate my room.
I dashed in, slamming the door shut before snapping the key in its hole and then I heard him stomp on the door.
