Chapter 1 - Game Start

It was December.

"August!" My mother yelled from the hallway. I could hear her footsteps, loud; I couldn't tell what her intentions were this time.

The lady entered my room, an expression that wasn't mad, not annoyed, but I couldn't pinpoint it. Quickly, I closed my phone and shoved it under my pillow.

"Mama?" I ask. "Why are you here?"

"Why am I here!? Ha! I'm here because I need to remind you to prepare for your upcoming 3rd year in College!" My mother huffed.

I didn't understand. Sometimes, my mother could be confusing. A great example would be what is happening currently.

I bit back the response I wanted to give and instead said, "But it's Christmas break. I just arrived a week ago, everyone's going back in two weeks, even my other professors announced and confirmed it as well."

"Well-" She paused. Though faint, I knew my mother's antics by heart. I glance at her hands, clutching the side of her polka-dot dress. "-Your… Father and I decided so. Now, hurry up and pack before I call your father. You're older now, you should know better than this."

"Yes…"

I watched as she slowly left my room, taking a glance and going on her way. I sighed deeply, letting myself fall onto the bed.

I took out my phone and unlocked it. The game I had been playing had closed, so I had to reopen it.

I pray that this time I will be lucky.

With that thought in mind, I tapped on the square icon of the game. The loading screen appeared. It was an interesting thing, something that could traumatise minors if they hadn't read carefully through the warnings.

It was a game rated 18+ for it's gorey scenes and mentions of disturbing things that could happen in everyday life, something you would find in

The background was realistic, but in a Chinese art style. In a dimly lit alleyway, with the brick walls. Turning up the volume, which I usually didn't do, an eerie and somehow relaxing background music came.

In the middle of it all, the characters in the loading screen were drawn in this cartoony, child-like art style. They were in their chibi forms.

A mysterious figure on the far left had a grey cloak draped over them, their posture seemingly running away, with ears poking the top of the cloak's hood. Their face was shadowed as well.

In the middle, chasing after the figure, was a man with blond hair with a lithe body, with a pair of wolf ears on his head. Dressed in a police uniform, his tail behind him.

Lastly, in the far right corner, a man with black hair was trailing behind, small emoticons of sweat dripping in the air. Dressed in the same police uniform, with black ears and a tail.

< Loading . . . 89% >

I watched as my wifi went up, somewhat boosting the loading as it spiked up to 99%. With a small smile, it finally appeared- the message I've been waiting for.

< Tap the screen to begin >

I gently tapped the screen, and quickly, I was on the home screen of the game.
