Chapter 5 - Journey

Kai looked at his mother, both excited and nervous to visit the castle in the morning, as the pair met up with Rhazi. "There you two are, where were you?" He asked worry evident in his voice. "This rascal gave me the slip and ran into a bully, everything's fine now though, the dragon's mother gave 'im a good scolding" Karill stated simply, lifting her paw and bapping Kai hard on the back of the head. "however, enough about that

It is now about time to teach him to fly, at least the basics, he can learn more advanced stuff in proper training." Rhazi nodded in agreement and the trio went to a really tall tree nearby since that was the closest high point they could find to help teach him. His parents then proceeded to teach him how to take off from any angle, any point of balance, from upside down to having only a single leg on a branch, how to flap his wings, move higher, lower, and most importantly, landing. After a few attempts he finally got all of it down, smiling and jumping around in excitement, zooming around in the sky, he ran to his parents and hugged them. "Thank you!" He'd exclaimed, assuming it only normal to learn this late in life, or at least, for how protective his parents were, he felt he probably looked younger than he was while acting like this but he didn't care, he was too excited.

"Settle now, you'll want all your energyfor the long flight ahead, we won't be able to stop anywhere for nearly as soon as we did, luckily the chief's messenger is a speedy thing, what'd take us a day or two to reach would take him only a few hours to half a day." Rhazi explained. "Think you can handle flying for that long?" "I could, possibly after a good night's rest." Kai replied with uncertainty, he wasn't sure as he'd never really flown on his own, considering he only learned just now and hadn't gotten to stretch out his wings all too often. They found a visitor hut and went to sleep for that night, waking up rested and refreshed. They ate the food Jara offered so they wouldn't be flying hungry, he also gave them a proper straw basket with some provisions in case they couldn't find any food on whatever breaks they may have during their journey to the castle, in which were carried in their maws.

With that and a warm goodbye, the trio took flight. The warm sun felt very good on the parent's scales and Kai's fur. They traveled till dusk, slept at yet another village, where they were once more greeted by warm faces, it seemed either the dragon kingdom is peaceful with little to no internal conflicts, or everyone knew whatever he was supposed to do or be. The group used some of their provisions, were given more provisions before taking off again. After a long time of flying, they finally, finally reached the gorgeous castle, and Kai felt relief sink into his very being, almost fully relaxing and dropping out of the sky right then and there.

The outer walls of the castle were made up of diamond and marble, each pillar of the outer walls held a different very large crystal or gem embedded into it, Kai presumed they were to represent each and every element, the gates were of reinforced steel, the material to raise and raise the gates were steel chains. The castle itself was made up of a multitude of strong materials, gold, diamond, iron, steel, marble, draconic unmeltable ice, that not only made it look grand and beautiful but also made it very sturdy and tough to break through.

Rhazi, Karill and Kai landed at the gates to be let in as to ensure they didn't seem like any sort of threat, and since they didn't exactly live there so they figured it'd be rude anyways. "I suppose you three are the ones seeking audience with the royal family that Brava was talking about?" One of the guards asked followed by a yawn. "Yes." Rhazi stated simply. The guard analyzed the trio for a second, especially the young furred dragon, making him hide nervously behind his mother, then the guard spoke, "alright, come on in." The guard had the gates opened for the trio to enter. A group of guards escorted them to the main castle, all this left Kai heavily nervous as he took one very shaky step after another, following his parents past the gates though the castle town, and into the castle itself and even further, into the throne room. "Welcome newcomers, I am princess Moon." Came a voice from between the two thrones, Kai could almost instantly sense a single pair of eyes on him despite his attempts to hide, making him stop glancing around the room and peeking around his mother then looking towards where he sensed it from. His breath hitched the second they locked eyes.

Meanwhile

With the moronic dragon doing her bidding Valeena got to work, she left for her dungeon, writing down circles, killing all kinds of creatures, small to large, forbidden, grotesque to the most normal of normal creatures. She wrote in her journal. 'The dragonling is ready, his powers have finally awakened to the dormant stage... now to prepare the spell... a Dragon's horn, a phoenix's feather, a unicorn horn, mystic ice created by a dragon. A Fenrir's ashes, and finally a Jailynx' fang, pure darkness from the abyss.' Noting down what she needed she flipped to the pages detailing where she could potentially find what she needed and what each creature looked like, aside from dragons given how common they were these days, after all they had their own damn civilizations. Now all that was left was to go get them. She grinned, closing the book. "Shouldn't be too difficult." The vile witch spoke, space distorted vertically around her hand as a staff appeared. She loved using dark magic, it felt good, it felt right, it made her feel... powerful.
