Chapter 10 - Trouble

"Hello King Yamo, queen Ria." The witch said, appearing in their luxury suite in the governing town of one of the regions separate from the castle itself. The queen owed her as much as the king did if not more since she got a potion to bring Yamo back from the brink of death which was caused during a fierce battle between him and his Father's brother which whom was stronger than his father and worse, though by then Yami too had naturally grown stronger on his own, be had been so close to death that the only way to save him was with that potion, he won regardless without the witch's help though.

"What are you doing here, witch?" Yamo asked, venom lacing his tone, if tone could kill, she'd've melted with how much venom he spoke with. Considering all he'd heard of her since last they met, she knew why, and it only made her grin. "I've come to collect on your debts. You should know what I want anyways, but I'm going to tell you regardless, just in case you're too stupid to have figured it out, bring me the one of ancient blood, alive. His power is useless to me if he's dead for all the power'll be gone, and I have nothing to gain from a corpse other than materials." The witch said.

She couldn't do so herself, she might be strong but she isn't stupid enough to try and fight the castle's army, capture the and expect to come out alive, they couldn't do anything to her because of the magical deal, at least not directly, anyways, and even then the amount of lives lost to deal with her would be staggering and make even the most empty of creatures feel empathetic. She knew of course he wouldn't throw away so many lives to get rid of one person.

"What if we refuse?" Yamo asked, looking at her with his eyes narrowed, he knew he was bound by their magical deal. His rhetorical question earned him a mocking cackle. "Your daughter is quite the beauty, and her royal blood makes her quite valuable either in power or to sell to dragon poachers, for whatever twisted purposes they may have for her~ Ooo I wish I could see what they'd do with her." The witch grinned with a toothy smile full of white unnaturally perfect teeth, it was so much so that it was more unsettling than anything else.

"You don't touch her!" Ria yelled andrily, her scaled body rippling, showing her unease, positioning herself, ready to pounce. "Alright, we'll help you, but after this, we're done." Yamo growled, eyes full of hatred, disdain, and fury, he wished beyond everything that he could kill her right here and now, but he couldn't. "Good." She replied slowly, her smile wide yet relaxed, "Head home and do what you must. You'll know where to find me. " she then vanished, it was as if she was never there.

The royal couple was looking at each other, they really didn't want to do as she asked, if they even knew where this dragon was. Considering the witch had gone to them, they immediately knew, and they really didn't want to do such a thing to one of their own subjects, of their own kind, but what choice did they have? "It's for our daughter, and our subjects, besides, you know what happens to any creature that breaks a wicken magical deal." Ria consoled.

"Y-yeah, I-I know it just..." Yamo trailed, "doesn't feel right.. " Ria finished for him, understanding just how he felt. "Yeah..." the king answered solemy, his expression grim. "Even just thinking about it.... feels so wrong, but it's the life of one over the lives of the many." He stated trying to convince himself they'd be doing the right thing, even though, he knew, it wouldn't be, but what choice did they have exactly? "C'mon, let's head home. Make sure Moon is safe." Ria added, getting up.

Back at the castle

Kai had just simply asked for whatever foods Moon did, not sure what kind of foods they had here exactly, they were dragons after all, their diets were vastly different from other creatures. Kai wondered if they made these 'dishes' in villages too, though for some reason, he doubted it. Surely being fourlegged creatures it would be difficult, and how would they have discovered these things that humans do anyways? He'd asked himself. "Some dragons like to steal books from humans, namely the ones that have deciphered and understand their texts, that's how we know of things such as this without being captured for whatever they wish to do to us or stuck as one of their pets." Moon said, answering his unasked question without reading his mind. "Ah." Kai replied.

"What's it like being princess and such?" "Frustrating, irritating, all of it, parents are extremely restricting, have to be guarded almost twenty-four seven... It's like a prison, it's so... suffocating, I just wish I could just have a bit of freedom." she ranted. "But when they're gone, I feel less like a captive and more important and free. I can fly around all I want and practically do whatever I wanna do without needing permission or risking getting a damn lecture."

"Damn that must suck, but it's better than being stuck in some dank cave day and night for year after year, having no clue who or what you are, thinking you're powerless, helpless." The dragonling stated wistfully, a hint of irritation underlying his voice. As the conversation went they went towards more important matters. "I haven't been taught to fly yet." He stated simply. "You haven't been taught to fly? Dragons are taught to fly once they start becoming aware of the world." She replied.

"Well, they seemed afraid of something every time they flew with me or anytime I asked, I think they were afraid of that dark witch finding me, and then when they finally did teach me it was just a crash course, I didn't get a full, proper lesson, even after flying myself for a night or however long it was, my flying still isn't quite right, it's wobbly," He answered, looking down as their food came. Just some berries, fruits mixed in with some seared fish.

"I know cooked fish probably weirds you out, but try it. It tastes a bit better to some dragons, typically fire dragons, but even other dragons sometimes enjoy it." She told him before replying to his statement. "That's understandable, I suppose first thing we need to do is get you off your feet and into the air, and get a proper, far less hurried lesson. I will probably do that myself during training." There seemed to be a little gleam in her eye as she said that. "Why do I feel like you're going to enjoy kicking my ass?" He sighed.
